Heidi Yay for Hunter Parrish Cecilia!

Hunter Parrish?!? Are you sure? I love him in Weeds. I watched all 5 seasons in the last few months from Netflix. I hope the next season is up soon. I don't have any premium cable channels so I have to wait :( He is a whole lot of hotness. I feel like a dirty old woman. His character wasn't even legal until season 4 or something.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments I found this article about the movie and I squealed a little bit:

http://www.mahalo.com/hunger-games-mo...

Apparently the author is co-writing the screenplay so how much can they really screw this up right?

I just noticed the dreaded 2 letter word... if. I hope they pick him or someone just as great.

Laraine (lala26) | 121 comments Hunter Parrish! :D

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I'm a little over 100 pages into The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta and my love for Melina def continues.

Yay! I just love her. I wonder what she is like in real life. She has to be one cool chick.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Vampire Diaries tv show has improved exponentially on the books. I've only read the first few books in the series that were written back in the 90s, but I wasn't a huge fan. Elena in the TV show is a much more like-able character IMO.

That just makes her even cooler Catie!

message 7160: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Does anyone still have those Melina interviews? I didn't get a chance to read them and I'd love to.

I think Elena in the TV Vamp diaries is a good example of how it may be better to just ignore the looks department. While at first I was upset, i now think that the actress does a good job and the blonde Caroline is one of my favorite characters.

message 7161: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I loved that scene!! Hahaha, it's awesome! Can we think of those scenes in Jellicoe, Finnikin and Alibrandi? (Not Piper's Son! I'm not done yet, haha)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Hmmm, I never knew that. I'll have to think about those "slate" moments now.

In Jellicoe I think it would have to be after Taylor negotiates the release of the hostages and then preceeds to slap Jonah in the face. I love that scene because it's one of the few times Griggs is just being a completely clueless guy.

message 7163: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Mayer (ashleymayer) | 125 comments I finished Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins last night! Now I am starting Vesper (Deviants, #1) by Jeff Sampson !

message 7164: by Gini (new)

Gini (camp80) | 88 comments Ashley what did you think of Demonglass? I sort of enjoyed Hex Hall but the book is sort of pricey and the library doesn't have it. Is it worth the buy?

message 7165: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Catie wrote: "Although, it occurs to me that in Looking for Alibrandi, the "slate" scene may have been between Josie's mom and dad."

Which scene was that? I did love that moment too, when she told him off for pressuring her.

Brittany, that's the scene i thought it was too. When she told him off and slapped him.

I really liked Hex Hall so I was excited about Demonglass, and I enjoyed it. If you liked Hex Hall you should definitely read Demonglass. Can you get it through interlibrary loan? I agree books are too expensive.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments I gave up on Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1) by Sara Shepard at least for now. I was listening on audio and just couldn't get into it. Maybe I will try it another time. I am also reading an ARC of In the Arms of Stone Angels by Jordan Dane for review and really like it so far. I just want to see what happens and how it all plays out. I kind of like the main character so that is good. I also am reading Shadow Souls (The Vampire Diaries The Return, #2) by L.J. Smith from the library and just finished The Field Guide (The Spiderwick Chronicles, #1) by Holly Black and am starting The Seeing Stone (The Spiderwick Chronicles, #2) by Holly Black both in audio. They are good so far. Definitely middle grade but I knew that already.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Demonglass is definitely worth the read. I think it was better than Hex Hall.

Finished Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and really enjoyed it.

Going back to Red Glove (Curse Workers, #2) by Holly Black since I didn't get a chance to read it before and am very excited about it, since it's the sequel to one of my favorite reads last year White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black . You really can't go wrong with a curse working mafia family who can harm people with a single touch.

I'm glad to hear you liked it!
I did like Hex Hall but I'm having a real problem with first person narratives right now, nonetheless I will probably get Demonglass (buy it, since I own Hex Hall) thanks for the reply.

I just finished
Lies (Gone, #3) by Michael Grant it was pretty awesome but a little slow.

Ohh, I'm jealous, I have to wait another two weeks for Red Glove! I LOVED White Cat but then Holly Black could probably rewrite the phone book and I would love it. Hey can you guys please recommend some good third person books?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I started The Last Will of Moira Leahy by Therese Walsh . First few pages were quite good. I'm very distracted by March Madness this year.

Anyone know any great and note trite basketball books? Maybe I should make a personal theme lol.

Yay for being loved! And thank you! I don't normally read sports books but because I like sports maybe it's worth a chance!

I just discovered that Piper's Son is not available in e-book. Why do they do this to me? Just sell me your book already publishers. I'm here with money 1 click away!!!

message 7173: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Cassi I HIGHLY recommend the audio for Piper's Son - I bought it for $9.00 at Books on Board. The narrator is excellent.

Now this is an option. Except that my ipod is still not working. But that's something I'm planning on fixing. I'm not planning on caving on my "buy less physical books" decision.

message 7175: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am actually glad I bought it Cassi because I will def. re-listen to it again.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Heidi I wrote: "I am actually glad I bought it Cassi because I will def. re-listen to it again."

Maybe once the ipod is working or replaced (it just died & won't charge). But I wanted the e-book NOW. Was on Amazon & everything.

message 7177: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Understandable Cassi! That is actually why I bought the audio mp3 because I wanted it right then!

message 7178: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) I am reading Nurse Matilda by Christianna Brand. This Novel has 328 Pages in it and I am on Page 272. This Novel is based on the stories behind the Movie Nanny McPhee. I dearly love this Book. It is so good, very easy to read, and the chapters are short.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm trying to pick a basketball e-book for this weekend. I really wanted to read On the Devil's Court by Carl Deuker because it sounded soooo wrong that it had to be right (sell your soul for basketball skills! Yes please! LOL). But now I'm choosing between the ones actually available in e-book.

Is it wrong to read a book because it sounds kinda bad in a funny way? If I ever find it at a library or in e-book I fully intend to read it out of curiosity.

message 7180: by Shel (new)

Shel (shelhw) | 7 comments I want to be reading the Luxe series but I have book two and need to pick up book one. I guess that means I'm between books at the moment. :) I will probably read Give a Boy a gun by Todd Strasser which has been on my currently reading list for-forever.

message 7181: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I loved #3 Molly, and #6 & #7 had some really epic moments in them. They just get better and better really.

message 7182: by Laraine (new)

Laraine (lala26) | 121 comments I agree with Becca, I've reread the Harry Potter series so many times over the years since it first came out that I've lost count! My least favorite was #5 though, still you won't be disappointed (I hope)! They're the best :)

message 7183: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Ah, but #5 has one of the most heart-rending moments in the whole series! But Harry did drag just a tad in that book. You won't be disappointed in the least.

message 7184: by Laraine (new)

Laraine (lala26) | 121 comments Yes and he was a bit full of angst for me on that one, but as a whole it's all pretty great! After all, one has to read all the books for it to be really epic :p

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments #5 was my favorite out of the whole series followed closely by #3. And #7 was great although the middle dragged on and on, but it was worth it just to make it to that epic ending.

Books #5 and #7 were the only times I cried while reading the series. (I got spoiled about the big thing that happens at the end of #6 or I'm sure that one would have gotten me too)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments You see #3, #6, #7 are some of my favorites. #5 I think is necessary and important but I struggled with emo angsty Harry. Plus you know, curtain of doom and all (I hope that's vague enough).

I think I have those #s right lol. Been awhile since I've done a re-read. Want to do one via audiobook at some point. But there are just SO many books yet to read.

message 7187: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments OMGoodness Cassi! The audiobooks are phenomenal. Totally worth the time it takes to go through the whole series. The narrator is probably my favorite ever. He's just plain awesome.

message 7188: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Hey Brittany, I cried in the same places! And in #6 I was just plain shocked, too shocked to cry.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments See and I didn't like #6 at all. It was essential, but it was all set-up for #7 so very important, but as a stand along I wasn't very impressed.

message 7190: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments But the battle in #6 is one of my favorite parts in the whole series! I was pissed when they basically cut it out of the movie.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Becca wrote: "Hey Brittany, I cried in the same places! And in #6 I was just plain shocked, too shocked to cry."

Yay... I love that we're still book twins! Although I didn't cry when most people did. I cried when (view spoiler)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Becca wrote: "But the battle in #6 is one of my favorite parts in the whole series! I was pissed when they basically cut it out of the movie."

true... that was an epic battle, and the first time we really get to see something like that.

message 7193: by Heidi (new)

Heidi My favs are #3 & #5 - I own all the audiobooks because they rock! Jim Dale is my hero. I wish I could check out the Stephen Fry version (more than just a snipet).

message 7194: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Oh gees Brittany, I'm tearing up just reading your spoiler. I had practically the same thoughts in #5, except I think I was calling Harry a blooming idiot in my head while I cried, lol! And out of curiousity, how do you do the spoiler thing?

message 7195: by Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) (last edited Mar 19, 2011 10:51AM) (new)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments the same way you would bold, underline, or italize but instead you type "spoiler" so it looks like < spoiler > and to end it you do spoiler > (but without the spaces. I did it that way so you could see it.)

message 7196: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Thanks! I think the part that I really choked up and cried the most, like ugly crying was in #7 when (view spoiler)

Crap! Now I have to go read them again because I honestly can't remember, but I know I was bawling. They're all on my re-read list anyway. Maybe I'll do the audio again.

Heidi My re-read list too Becca (or at least my re-listen list!)

Oh man, you SO have to read this. I don't care how cheesy it is. I need to know how this "soul selling" deal comes about, and why someone would be dumb enough to even consider it!
