Jaimie - I listened to the first two Sookie Stackhouse books on audio and they were good (unlike the series that shall not be named); however, I am just not into vamp books, so I haven't listened to anymore. I also started Grave Sight - the Harper Connelly series, but I did not like Harper or her "brother". Sookie is a much better character.

Harper is a bit strange I will give you that but I liked her - she's quirkie. The Aurora Tegarden (Starts with Real Murders) and the Lily Bard (starts with Shakespears Landlord) are both very good and not at all paranormal. Aurora took me till book two to get hooked but Harris' books are always really quick reads.
Jaimie - I may have to give the other two series a look :)
I am not trying to add to your already huge pile of books but I thought that since you are into mystries that you might have read them.

Heidi I thought the Harper/brother relationship was a little eewww myself. I still think Queen Betsy rules in the vampire genre, at least they have some humor.
Sheila are Queen Betsy books written by the author who writes the Undead and Unwed books??? I have that book in my tbr pile and plan to listen to it on audio.
yep, Maryjanice Davidson. Queen Betsy is the star of the unwed books. They probably should be read in order especially the first one first. They are great on audio

Sheila I have read all the Queen Betsy books! The last two were a little eehh to me but I love Betsy. She is so funny!
Heidi you are so right. Undead and Unwed is the first of 9. (Not a good omen for your TBR pile is it?)

I figure I'll get the next one from the library.
Just finished Pretties, and I liked it better than Uglies. This one was much more plot as opposed to setting up the world like in the first book. I would recommend the series so far, but it seems like one of those "love it or hate it" types of books.

Have you read any other books by S. Westerfeld? I have heard his other series are better than Uglies.

Not as good as Betsy but Fred is pretty funny.

Bluemoon - I like the HON books but the writing isn't that great. I think the series is mostly liked by teens. I'm so absorbed in the series now that I want to see how it ends, even if the last book was the pits. If you like UF that are a little on the naught side, you might try the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.
If you didn't like the first one, don't read the rest. Too many good books, too little time!

I'm hoping this isn't sarcasm and a dig at my Kindle! In the event that it's not, it's a free download from Amazon that you use to view Kindle books on. You can download it here. They also have software for Macs, blackberries, and iphones. Pretty good way to take advantage the of free and cheap books that they have.
But if it is sarcasm, then GRRRRRR!!
Not sarcasm Peep, would I do that? Actually I think they are very cool and have given it VERY serious consideration. The thing I like best about Kindle is the ability to make the font bigger for old farts like me that can't read paperback print. So no need to growl :)Thanks for the info. Sheila - small font in cozy mysteries drives me crazy too. I posted something about that on the cozy group awhile back.
That's one of the things I like about the Kindle too, Sheila. Allows me to put off buying prescription reading glasses. Too bad I'm starting to have problems reading things on my phone now!
If I got a Kindle it would be because of the font. I know I am screwed if I can't get a book either in LP or audio. Sometimes normal print is OK but LP is so much less eye strain for me. A lot of the books that are talked about here on GR are not available to me in the big print format but if I thought they were available on Kindle I might get one especially now that they are cheaper. I have a birthday coming up in a week and hubby asked me today what I would like? Big mistake on his part. I am concerned that Amazon and some of the publishing companies are having disputes like the Janet Evanovich books aren't available for Kindle (at least they weren't) that would be a bummer

This is where I mainly get my list of books from (all threads from the same website). Keep in mind that they change rapidly. Sometimes books are only free for a few hours, even! Also the Kindle can read pdf's too. March 2010 Bargains

For the first few days that I had the Kindle, I kept going up to the top right side of it to turn the page! It took me a while to get used to it. I'm still alternating though!

I still love my paper books though! They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I currently have about 5 paper books here that I need to read and 8 digital books on the Kindle that I also need to read. Took the kids to the library for story time and guess what? Picked up two more books when I told myself not to! This was after I added two more free books to my Kindle last night...

Just finished Catching Fire and am starting Deadly Little Lies so I can finish that series and move on to a new one. :)
I'm not even at the first step Bluemoon, I refuse to admit that I have a problem. I blame the authors, publishers, and the library - not myself. Too many good books out there!
