Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
What are you reading now?
Carmel wrote: "Cassie for oldies like me, that song was and 8os favourite!!"Its something a friend randomly introduced me to. However its great fun to listen to in a girls college dorm when you're feeling silly. (Makes me sentimental for college)
This Woman's Work is one of my all time favorite songs ever. I bought the soundtrack from She's Having a Baby just for that song.

I'm about to start Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright.
I wanted to read it before I saw the movie.
Red Riding Hood
I wanted to read it before I saw the movie.
Red Riding Hood
Just finished I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. Absolutely loved it..light, easy read, but one with a message. Fall in love with Audrey, Marv and Ritchie, as they try to keep up with Ed, as he follows his messages. And you'll love The Doorman...he's a character of his own!
reading
, hopefully i'll read it all this time. Finished
3 days ago. read it in 6 hours. enjoyed it. planning to read
next or while reading
.
Wooohooo! Done with the Illmoor Chronicles Book One..enjoyed it so much...and is soon to plunge in the Book Two, The Yowler Foul-Up.
see my review for The Ratastrophe Catastrophe
Catie wrote: "I just picked that up from the library! Yay!"Hope you like Hex Hall Catie! It's a fun read if anything. Demonglass still hasn't arrived in bookstores here, I'm trying not to agonize over it haha...

Cheryl wrote: "Catie wrote: "Yeah, so I basically consumed

PS One of the small things that bugged me about book 1 was totally resolved in book 2. I don't know what bugged you but just thought I'd say that.
Brenda wrote: "Just finished I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. Absolutely loved it..light, easy read, but one with a message. Fall in love with Audrey, Marv and Ritchie, as they try ..."Yay so glad you loved it too! You should try the audio sometime. :)
Hey Heidi, one thing I mentioned in my review of Hex Hall was that Sophie's voice totally reminded me of Jessica Darling, so if you liked Jessica you'll like Sophie with the paranormal twist.
Thanks! It was incredible...and warm, which was totally the point. I came back with a nice golden glow that hasn't faded yet :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun)
(new)
I just started
last night and I'm already in lust with St. Claire. Silly French/American boys and their hot British accents!
Ha, look what I found while searching the Wuthering Heights movies : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1181614/ There will be a new version this year, apparently with Kaya Scodelario. I'm not done with the book yet, so I don't know what to make of it... I'd like to watch the 1939 version, though.
I started
last night but was too tired to really focus.Reading that and Climber magazine (why did I subscribe to this again?) right now.
Chris wrote: "Just read "I am number 4"...good. Now on to "City of Bones""
Love City of Bones!
Love City of Bones!
Annie wrote: "
i love this series. heard a movie is gonna be made. so excited about that."
OMG! I love that series. A movie would be awesome. have you read it before?
Just finished
and I can honestly say that this book is so far my least favorite book..the ending is a bit disturbing to say the least..I have some review books to finish up and I can honestly say I think I need a little time away from the fever series...though jumping into dreamfever is tempting..I just don't think I am feeling it right now. :(
Heidi I wrote: "Brenda wrote: "Just finished I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. Absolutely loved it..light, easy read, but one with a message. Fall in love with Audrey, Marv and Ritchi..."Thanks Heidi..I'm actually in the process of looking at audio. I have never had an audio book, haven't got anything to listen to them on, so have started with enquiries..hopefully soon I'll be listening to my books, as well as reading them!! :)
at the moment I'm reading
and I'm almost in the middle but I'm still not into it. the story wouldn't be bad, but I'm missing some more details between the characters and profundity. don't know, I'm looking forward to the next book
I'm just starting Wicked: Witch & Curse, but I'm having a bit of a hard time getting into it. So far, I've only read about 30 pages, so I'm hoping something grabs me soon and pulls me into the story.
Martina wrote: "at the moment I'm reading

Martina wrote: "I thought the book was written before and the film made afterwards?"The whole thing is sketchy. I refuse to read I am Number Four for ethical reasons.
Here's a brief synopsis http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheat-sh...
There are better articles out there but I'm at work & wanted to post something quickly.
I finished
and I was must say for a free e-book, it was really fascinating. I plan on reading the next one in the series but later on after I've read some of my other books.
Martina wrote: "I thought the book was written before and the film made afterwards?"Nope. It was sold as a screenplay under very sketchy circumstances and then they hurried to get a "book" out to capitalize on the movie publicity.
The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, to be very honest, which is why I won't read it or see the movie.

Catie wrote: "Ditto, Michelle. I think that it's all just too shady for me."Every now and then something happens in the world that is fundamentally wrong in a situation in which I have the power to take a stand. Not buying a book or seeing a movie may be a small stand to take, but I'm of the belief that if lots of people took those stands where they could, we would be able to affect positive change in the world.
But maybe I'm just an idealist!

thanks for the info, but I haven't heard about it before. I just thought the books was before. And now it doesn't matter, cause I've just bored it from a friend and halfway through it, so I'll keep on reading till the end.from where did you get all this information?
Martina wrote: "thanks for the info, but I haven't heard about it before. I just thought the books was before. The more people we make aware the harder it is for James Frey to sell his "books."
Seriously he is a con man through and through.
Martina wrote: "thanks for the info, but I haven't heard about it before. I just thought the books was before. I think the New York Times even did a feature about it. Someone posted a link up above, I believe.
And I totally don't fault you for reading it! Not everyone knew how it came about, and even if you had, deciding to read/not read or see/not see the book or movie is a personal decision. I respect that!

I'm not judging anyone for reading it. I just think its important that people realize where their money & energies are going towards so I'm trying to get the word out--not to make anyone feel bad but to educate people about James Frey's latest sketchy activity.

I'm torn over whether to post this "official version" or the red dress version. Look at both.
