Jamie (bookworm20) | 67 comments Just started Academy 7 by Anne Osterlund . One of the first YA sci/fi books that I have come across. It sounds like it will be an interesting read. :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Since I don't have kids I would like to go ahead and let Catie and Lloyd have first choice of the "Little Mates" books. This way you can get something your kids will love. After you two pick then I'll go.

So... Catie and Lloyd, I believe the floor is yours!

That was a 3 star-er for me Jamie. Decent, but not something I rave about. I hope you like it.

message 6804: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (bookworm20) | 67 comments Aww really? I liked it. I gave it a four. I really enjoyed the originality of it. I'm a big sci/fi fan though I have not read many sci/fi books lol.

message 6805: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (bookworm20) | 67 comments I am thinking about reading The False Princess by Eilis O'Neal or Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn . To very different books lol. Which do you guys think?

Hi Jamie, I haven't read both books but I have The False Princess on my tbr list too. Let me know how you find it if you pick that one to read :)

message 6808: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I finished Angel (Maximum Ride, #7) by James Patterson and now I must wait for a year to see the ending of this series (I guess the 8th book will be the end).

message 6809: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) Yesterday I finished Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere, #1) by Melina Marchetta and I liked it. Great epic story and nice characters. Only the language was a little difficult, but the story was great.
And today I'm going to start with I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore Hope it will be great and then afterwards I'm going to watch the film :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm not going to tell you where I'll get a picture of mine but it'll probably be somewhere outdoorsy. That's what Kentucky does best! (Or chicken-related I suppose).

I think this could be a lot of fun!

message 6811: by Arphaxad (last edited Mar 03, 2011 06:43AM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Haha! Great idea, guys. I'm at Cambridge, so I could get a photo by King's College or something...maybe the Bridge of Sighs...it'll give me an excuse to be a tourist rather than a student for once :D

message 6812: by Megan (new)

Megan currently reading Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas and listening to the following audio books: Rebel Angels (Gemma Doyle, #2) by Libba Bray at work and Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2) by Becca Fitzpatrick in my car.

message 6813: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 33 comments I am currently reading Kabul Beauty School An American Woman Goes Behind the Veil by Deborah Rodriguez and I am enjoying it. I would like to finish it this weekend if not earlier.

message 6814: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Right now I'm reading Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning and loving it. I don't want it to end! Frequently, a final book in a series is disappointing, but this thing delivers! I've got about a quarter to go.

On the YA side, I'm about halfway through Sisters Red (Sisters Red, #1) by Jackson Pearce , which is good so far, although a little predictable.

Hi Jamie..."

I sure will. I think that is the one that I AM going to read lol.

message 6816: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I went back to reading Raising Dragons (Dragons in Our Midst #1) by Bryan Davis , I'm also hoping to read I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore since I have that handy. I'm not feeling great so I'm using that as an excuse to do nothing but read.

message 6817: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (prairiedances) | 17 comments Just finished The Long Weekend by Savita Kalhan . Terrifying book. It's about two 11 year-old boys who are kidnapped after school.

Ash (alf203) | 45 comments Jamie wrote: "I am thinking about reading The False Princess by Eilis O'Neal or Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn. To very different books lol. Which do you guys think?"

I enjoyed Dash and Lily's book a lot (much more than Nick and Norah's)! It slows down towards the end but I loved the different voices of Dash and Lily and most of all, their love for books!

message 6819: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin (catsbooksandcritters) | 27 comments I'm reading Sabotaged (The Missing, #3) by Margaret Peterson Haddix and rereading Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins .

message 6820: by Susan (new)

Susan I'm now reading Undead and Unreturnableby MaryJanice Davidson. I love this series and this author!!!

Heidi Susan wrote: "I'm now reading Undead and Unreturnableby MaryJanice Davidson. I love this series and this author!!!"

I am only on book 3, but I enjoyed the first two. The audiobooks are great.

message 6822: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've read them through book 8, but haven't read the newer ones.

They were okay. The early ones made me laugh, but after a while I started losing interest. I did like Sinclair though.

message 6823: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wendy I have heard the last few in the series are not very good, so I have been warned :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I started The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3) by Julie Kagawa . I kind of missed this coming out. The last one of the series had a lot of blog coverage but I missed this ones release entirely (saw it in the store & bought it)

message 6825: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I'm currently reading Valiant (The Modern Faerie Tales, #2) by Holly Black , got about two paragraphs in and realized I've read it before. Random...I'm going to keep reading since I have it, and do a refresher before moving on to the next in the series.

message 6826: by Brenda (new)

Brenda I'm just about to start I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. If it's as good as The Book Thief, I'm in for a great ride!

message 6827: by Heidi (last edited Mar 04, 2011 04:21PM) (new)

Heidi I am the Messanger is totally different than the Book Thief, but it just as excellent IMO. I always mentioned how great an author he is because he can write totally different books. I hope you enjoy the Doorman - he was my favorite character.

message 6828: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Thanks Heidi, I can't wait to start it..will let you know when I'm finished, what I thought. :)

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments I started Beastly by Alex Flinn to read before seeing the movie.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Brenda wrote: "Thanks Heidi, I can't wait to start it..will let you know when I'm finished, what I thought. :)"

I am actually about to finish the audiobook right now. If you get the chance, you should try the audio because it's really, really good. I started the book before and ended up quitting. I didn't realize how far I'd read until I started the audio. Didn't matter because I needed the refresher.

It is completely different from the Book Thief, but still very good.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I was shocked to see that the Beastly movie got a good review in the paper. It seemed like fodder for a poor review.

I haven't read the book but now I'm more curious about the movie than before.

Whoops! I thought I was in my audio book group when I made this comment so I assumed she was listening to it on audio. I whole heartedly agree. The audiobook was why I loved it. p.s. the ending is weird, but I didn't care by the end!

message 6833: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Oh now why'd you have to go and say that about the end? That's going to make me look for a weird end now :( Boohoohoo!

I am reading it fairly quickly. I am going to read for a while before bed and maybe even finish it tomorrow. :) I don't think the movie looks like it is going to be bad. I am always scared of them changing a lot of stuff.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Its just such a teen movie. It stars the girl from High School Musical which I love in a Disney-way but these are critics!

It had a 4/5 star review and everything else was at 3 stars this weekend. I was surprised. Let us know how the movie is.

I refuse to go see it after seeing the commercials for it and seeing that the boy is not a beast but a dude with ugly veins..and the girl is way to pretty. Only good thing I seen was that Neil Patrick Harris plays the blind guy..I will wait for dvd if I decide to try it. :(

She's right... it is weird though.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Emily (Super Reader Girl Reviews) wrote: "I heard Beastly had a weird ending so it wouldn't spoil the ending of the movie...true?"

I thought that was the Red Riding Hood book? Please don't let that become a trend. I want my books to be books, not lead-ins to movies. (But if the book is successful enough to merit a movie then yay, but book first!)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Now that I've read a couple novels I'm back to You Grow Girl The Groundbreaking Guide to Gardening by Gayla Trail . I know I said I'd update. Right now it seems to be giving information thats practical to all gardeners (not just city). I kinda want to worm compost now. I know--weird right?

It has some good ideas I like such as making a cloche out of a plastic bottle or using a plastic bottle to create a continuous watering system for plants during warm months. The book is easy to understand with very nice illustrations.

Laraine (lala26) | 121 comments Just finished Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver ! It was 3 stars from the middle but I gave it 4 stars after finishing until the end! Now unto Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill .

Kurukka I'm about to start Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë . Big, big classic. We'll see if my unromantic heart can appreciate it xP

I'm pretty unromantic and I liked Wuthering Heights. I once heard a song based on it...gosh I need to find that again. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Catie wrote: "YEEESS!!!! It's Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. As soon as Cecilia posted, I was all, "Heathcliff, it's meeee Cathyyy..." in my head. I almost posted that but didn't."

Yay! I can look it up now. We got the CD from the local library during college and we always had a good time listening to that song.

SO GLAD I'm not the only one who knows that!!!!
