message 6759: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bexsi) I've finished Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë Everything about this book makes it makes it truly brilliant. 5 stars
Midnight Sun Midnight Sun (Twilight, #5) by Stephenie Meyer I loved the story from Edwards point of view. 5 Stars
Hush, Hush Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick The storyline certainly keeps you interested, but i personally found it hard to read. 3 stars
My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding (Includes Dark-Hunter, #9.1; Sookie Stackhouse, #6.1) by P.N. Elrod There is not enough here that stands out, Maybe it's a case of trying to cram too many authors in to one book. 3 stars
A Great and Terrible Beauty A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray The writing was gorgeously elaborate great, but sometimes so elaborate I didn't actually know what was going on. 3 stars
and I have started Glimmerglass Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker, #1) by Jenna Black Bloody Tower: The Diary of Tilly Middleton, London 1553-1559 Bloody Tower The Diary of Tilly Middleton, London 1553-1559 (My Story) by Valerie Wilding and Slave to Sensation Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh

It's almost halfway through the book before things really start making sense.

message 6763: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Now that it is March I wanted to invite others to join the theme read thread if they have any books that are appropriate(or even remotely close!) March's themes are as follows:
1. Women's History Month - stories with strong female protaganists.
2. Friendship Day - stories with strong friendships and/or about friendship.
3. St. Pat's Day - Irish authors and/or books set in Ireland.

In the featured author thread there are two authors for March Melina Marchetta and Scott Westerfeld. Feel free to join us over there if you plan to read either author this month. Thanks!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Still trying to plug through The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness because everyone keeps saying it gets better.

Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins has been fun so far. It had a much better start than the first one.

I'm reading this right now too but it had me from the beginning. And Manchee just makes my heart melt.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hah. Dog lover?

message 6767: by Heidi (new)

Heidi It took me about 75-100 pages to start getting into it Stacia. Basically once Viola is a full time player I was hooked.

Stacia - Yes. When our dogs are really naughty, I have swatted them on the rear. Won't be doing that anymore. I now picture them saying, "Ow? Mommy?" :(

I walk around giving my dog thoughts now, like Manchee. I love him too, he was my favorite from the beginning.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Ugh... fine I'll pick Knife up again the next time I'm at the library. I have to know what is so great about this book. Especially since I didn't come close to finishing it the 1st time around. But I'm skipping the 1st 75 pages or so because I've already read them.

Oh and Heidi. I got a free audiobook download and I picked Jellicoe Road since I knew I'd want to read it again and again. I completely understand your girl crush on the narrator. She's fantastic. My only complaint would be that she only has 1 male voice so sometimes it was hard for me to tell when Griggs, Ben, and Santangelo were all speaking at once. But that's a minor issue really and much better than I could ever have done. Also, I think the book may have been even better the 2nd time around. No guessing as to what was going to happen, but I also didn't have that moment of clarity when the pieces finally come together.

Yay Jamie. I'm trying to remember but I think somewhere around chapter 17 is when you absolutely cannot put the book down. Until then you'll remain in that constant state of confusion. I promise it will make sense eventually.

Samantha | 10 comments Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here in a while (too busy reading all the great recs gleaned here!). Recently loves: If I Stay, Marcelo in the Real World and When You Reach Me. To all making their way through Jellicoe, keep going: it's worth it (and thanks again to all here who encouraged me to read through my confusion). By the way, I'm having a "What's Your Favorite YA Book?" question and contest on my blog The Infinite Booklist. Would love it if some here would share their favorites!
By the way, I'm currently reading--and really liking--The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing.
] The Pox Party (The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, #1) by M.T. Anderson If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman Marcelo In The Real World by Francisco X. Stork When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
