What are you reading now?
Jill wrote: "I am addicted to Nightshade. I've been sneak-reading it at work all day!"Ohh you are making me want to start it now..LOL..I must finish one of my other books first..I keep telling myself this but it seldom works..LOL
Lloyd, I have a nice TBR list on my ipod also! I just can't help myself and those free books are not helping any..hehe
Cassi wrote: "Was Cole in the first one? Gosh I can't remember. No offense but that book almost made me stab my eyes out.Sometimes I swear I'm almost a boy."
Is shivers that..well lovey dovey? Cause I havent read it yet and if it is it might be staying down on the pile for a while. I don't mind romance but I don't like it seeping with it to where I want to role my eyes.
I agree, it's definitely a romance. And no, Cole was not in the first one but for a quick fast second.
Becca wrote: "I would say Shiver is a straight romance with paranormal elements Stormi."Oh okay..well it can go down on the pile then..lol :( Not really in the mood for that right now.
I learned my lesson about pretty cover art at least with Shiver (and reading too much buzz on blogs). Its too mushy ooey-gooey for me. Teenagers who think that being in love is more important than anything else kinda drive me nuts because, well, they're teenagers

I started book #4 in BDB today. I'm 50 pages in. I'm not expecting it to be as good as Z's book, but V intrigues me so I'm hoping to learn more about him too. I have so many freaking questions but I wish we could just get to the fluff already. It's the only series I've ever felt that way about, but that's BDB...
That is so BDB. Any other series and you'd start begging for more storyline or action. In BDB you start getting angry when there's too much stuff going on that takes away from the fluff.Go figure.
Oh Wendy, I am so glad it came, but that is such a bummer that you have company and can't start it! I finished
it was a little Middle Grade book but it wasn't bad.

Hahaha! I hate lovey dovey too!. That is actually why I like books like Anna and The French Kiss and North of Beautiful because they are smart and well written romances.
Heidi I wrote: "Hahaha! I hate lovey dovey too!. That is actually why I like books like Anna and The French Kiss and North of Beautiful because they are smart and well written romances. "I've been curious about Anna and the French Kiss because a lot of authors I like have raved about the book. Sometimes I like stepping outside of my normal reading circle to different genres. It's not on my TBR list but it may get added soon due to all the talk.
Cassi I would recommend it. It is well written and a fast and funny read. As I said, I hate sappy, (except BDB books of course), and especially hate overly cheesy romances *cough* Perfect Chemistry *cough*.
Heidi you have convinced me to put it on my TBR list. Don't know when I'll get to it but between you and John Green I am sold.
hahaha Cassi.. John Green is what sold me as well! And I absolutely adored that book, but then again, I am a big fan of will-they-won't-they romance.Though I did not like Shiver at all and I have no desire to read Linger.
I can handle occasional romances. Really John Green's novels are nerdy boy meets hot girl and I like them. I just have a very low tolerance for mush and teens who ramble about undying love. Because I feel like they're too young to know (especially when its set in current times--I have a 16 year old sister). For me romance usually takes backseat to story. Think Tamora Pierce. I always fall in love with boys in her books and I care about the relationships, but there's this great story going that takes the foreground. (I do like classics like Pride & Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, etc,)
Even in the classics you mentioned Cassi, the romance is woven so well into what is written that you couldn't have the action and story without it. That's how I like my romance. I vital part of the story, but not your undying, one true love bit. It can get way to silly and sappy going that route.
I also think the sexiness of Rhett Butler helps. Because my frankly my dear....You guys are making me wonder if maybe they're are romances I could tolerate. Hmmmm, might have to experiment at some point.
The love at first sight thing was my whole problem with Twilight - I am just not into those types of books (again BDB is excused!). I prefer a real relationship - built on you know things like conversations and characters things in common! That is why I loved Anna - you really saw the relationship build throughout the book. I didn't realize John Green liked it?? I really wish I had more time, because I would love to re-read Will Grayson. You ladies are making me miss Tiny!
Cassi wrote: "Heidi you have convinced me to put it on my TBR list. Don't know when I'll get to it but between you and John Green I am sold."I truly hope you enjoy it - whenever you get to it!
I enjoyed Outlander, I don't know that I loved it. It felt SO long because I'm so used to YA. I'll add that to my TBR list. Look at me venturing outside my comfort zone!
Heather wrote: "Just read 'Roger and Amy's Epic Detour'. Put it on the top of your list ASAP. It's fabulous."Loved it too! I liked Anna a little more though :)
Wendy wrote: "Shadowfever CAME!!! now I have company so I can't start it yet!"Totally missed this Wendy! Yay!
I have never read John Green's books..one book that drove me crazy with the whole oh my I have to be around you al the time or I'm going to die..sap.. was
I liked the over all story but it was hard to read sometimes because I want to slap the girl in the story she was getting annoying. I understand that a lot of teenagers do act this way, but I don't think the author has to fill the whole book with the drama of it..blah.
I will try Anna though but it might be a while.
I don't think all teenagers act that way. I never did as a teen. My sister has a boyfriend & she thinks they're in love but she's not THAT sappy. Honestly she's kind of mean to him at times and he just smiles and lets her be mean. (hopefully she'll find someone with that much patience for her moods for the long run)
I have to say, I'm not sure I've ever met a teenager who acts that way. It always seems kind of odd to me how so many relationships are written that way in YA books; they don't really feel believable.
I don't mind soul mates who know they belong together instantly. I liked Shiver, and Linger both. I think that I liked Maggie's writing style though, lyrical, it helped. Plus I thought that Sam and Grace had a healthy caring relationship, which can be rare in YA Paranormal reads. I think that i have a harder time with soul mates/love at first sight stories if the characters are weak or willing give their personal selves over to it. I didn't mind that Bella and Edward loved immediately, I minded that Bella was willing to draw and quarter herself because she thought she wasn't good enough.
So I guess for me, it's more about the strength of the characters personalities then about how fast they fall in love. If I even said that right.
Catie wrote: "Agreed. Even when I met my husband at age 18, it took me over three months before I would admit to feeling "in love" and although I did have moments of sappiness/craziness I don't think I was ever..."I met my husband in high school and we were friends before we admitted we had feelings for each other, so yeah, lol.
I'm sick of triangles too! As soon as I read a book where there's a love triangle I instantly roll my eyes. I think it's part of the reason I'm not falling all over myself when it comes to the Iron Fey series.
Blah, I have too many books to read, I'm suppose to be reading a classic
for my online book club read a long and I haven't even started that!!!!!, We're suppose to start discussing like next week. I need to spend a whole day reading books with no interruptions, LOL!
Let me know how Anna Karenina is. I read the Death of Ivan Ilych by Tolstoy in college. Sometimes I have trouble reading very difficult books because work is so busy I don't have the time to focus & think about them enough.I just started
. It looks longer than I expected but hopefully I'll get most of it read this weekend (that's the plan at least)
Cassi- I will definitely let you know about Anna Karenina. My online book club decided that reading classics would be easier together instead of by ourselves, lol.....thankfully. I haven't started it yet though, hopefully getting to it later today.
Well I work at Mcdonalds..lol I get a lot of teenage drama there..I have heard just about everything.
Stormi wrote: "Well I work at Mcdonalds..lol I get a lot of teenage drama there..I have heard just about everything."Wanna bring me a big mac with large fries and a sweet tea?!????? I'd be your best friend forever!
I wanted to comment on all the "love at first sight" and love triangles stuff. I like courtship more than love at first sight and I enjoy love triangles if they are written very well. I also have a tendency to fall for the male best friend character over and over again. I am currently reading
SLIGHT SPOILER:
Yes... I do love Gale!
Haha, I usually fall for the best friend character too. I remember a time when it was romantic for the lead to realize he/she was in love with the best friend, but apparently it's not a 'popular' idea anymore. Catching Fire was the one time when I was pushing for the romantic lead, Peeta.
Sara, not sure where your at but I think the big mac might be a little stale by the time it gets to you. :)It is fun for people watching but I really hate working there..I have a degree in History but where I live there is nothing for it and I just can't move right now, so I am stuck there. Though I just found out about a library science degree you can get online so I am going to check into that!
I am also sort of tired of love triangles but thats only because I always like the one that doesn't get picked *coughs* Jacob *coughs* :)
I did not like Twilight but if someone held a gun to my head and told me to kiss one boy it would not be Edward. Then again I like kissing so the gun may be unnecessary (because I am making myself sound bad I should say I have actually only kissed one person, but since we've broken up I imaginary kiss book characters galore)
I should say me and one of my friends on twitter have been talking about the strange similarities between Twilight & Roswell (TV show).PS Max wins above all of the characters perviously mentioned! Or Alex who I kind of love too.
Cassi wrote: "I should say me and one of my friends on twitter have been talking about the strange similarities between Twilight & Roswell (TV show).PS Max wins above all of the characters perviously mentioned..."
OOOOHHH I miss Roswell. I should go back and rewatch those. We may even have them on DVD. I will have to check.
I love the Caramel frappe from mcDonalds! They're not the best in calories, but they are so damn good.
I'm a coffee fanatic.
McDonald's needs to offer veggie burgers! Burger King has had them for years. Come on Stormi - get on that for me (jk :)
Roswell was the first show I ever loved. (That may sound silly if you've never met you show soul-mate).I've got them all on DVD & this is either my 3rd or 4th rewatch. I'm watching as a knit (and I'm watching them on my computer so twitter & things don't distract me from finishing my knitting)
If you don't have them on DVD somebody said they're all on netflix instant watch
