Kayla (kaylawrites89) | 352 comments I haven't had any problems with Amazon, but I'm sorry that Amazon is being so weird with you Wendy, I think what it is is it's the place they're getting the book from that's procrastinating the shipping.

Oh, and I'm now reading, Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side (Jessica, #1) by Beth Fantaskey and I have the entire Fever series now after much hunting. :)

I could never go back to buying paper books. I buy them now only when I have no other choice. Don't get me wrong; I love holding a paperback in my hand. I can stretch out in the tub and read, which I won't do with my Kindle. I love the heft of a book, and its smell, and the texture of its pages. But I love more 30-second delivery times, and easy storage, and the comfort of knowing that my house could burn down, and I would still have my books.

message 5903: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've never really had a problem with Amazon either. I work for a shipping warehouse so yeah, they probably transmitted the data for the shipment and it won't get picked up until tomorrow.

This is heatless complaining, I love Amazon usually.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I love how Kindle owners (myself included) talk about them with the excitement of a new boyfriend/lover.

I only really have issues with Amazon delivery when I use the "supersaver" free shipping (that isn't actually free). Normally I can't justify the expense of paying for shipping if it's something I can wait on. (My most recent purchases were hiking socks which have already arrived & a zumba dvd set thats taking forever--same order I should note)

Haha, I'm the opposite actually. I love my kindle for all the reasons you say (storage, fast download, ease), but the books that I love the most I want to own physically on my bookshelf because I have a hard time trusting that computer's and Kindles won't fail eventually.

Hehe. I was going to buy an iPad -- I still might -- but then the Kindle dropped in price, and I was desperate for new books in my own language (I'm an English-speaking American in South Korea), so I bought one.

Oh, I know that computers and Kindles will fail. That's why I keep my ebooks backed up in multiple locations. I have them on flash drives, on an external hard drive, and also online (MS SkyDrive, and my Google Documents storage). A new book takes no more than two minutes (literally) to back up on each of those systems, total time. Plus Amazon has them backed up. MS, Google, and Amazon can afford far more secure and reliable backup systems than I can.

message 5908: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I need to get a flash drive, and I keep meaning to back them up onto my computer too. I didn't know there were places to back them up online, I'll have to look into that too.

I'm the same, I just got a Kindle and I'm very very happy about it but I know I'll still buy books I love. For example, I can't wait to read Shadowfever and it would be quicker to get it as an ebook but I want to own it so I wait.

message 5910: by Chas (last edited Jan 30, 2011 10:32AM) (new)

Chas | 23 comments MS SkyDrive is free and it gives you 25GB of free storage, which would store, on average, about 25,000 ebooks.

message 5911: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Thanks, I'll definitely check that out.

I'm pretty sure I'd still by my favorites in book form anyway. I like having them.

message 5912: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylawrites89) | 352 comments my book backup is onto 1 tera bite external hard drive. i have almost 300 novels on it and i haven't even read half of them. hehe

message 5913: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) okay, this is a stupid question and one I'm sure I can figure out on my own once I try. But do you just download them to your computer and then transfer them onto a harddrive (flashdrive) or upload them onto a Internet hosting site. There's no special trick to it?

message 5914: by Chas (new)

Chas | 23 comments You download them to your computer or your Kindle, and then transfer them to an external hard drive, and/or a flash drive, and/or upload them to online storage sites. In other words, once it is on your computer or your Kindle, copy it or upload it anyplace you wish.

message 5915: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I want a ereader and I thinking about a kindle, I was going to get a nook, but now I am so confused. Right now I have ebooks on my ipod and its okay but it so small..then there are books like Darkfever..I know you all said it was good and it is and its so good that I really wish I had a actual book of it in my hands..I don't know its so good I want to hold it in my hands..might sound crazy but that is why I will always have actual book and not just go to ebooks because if I really love it I must have the actual book which means I will probably be buying the fever series in book form from now on...thank goodness income taxes are about in..I can get the whole series...LOL

message 5916: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That's what I figured. I'll have to steal one of my husband's flash drives now.

message 5917: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylawrites89) | 352 comments i just transfer them to my harddrive after i download them.

message 5918: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am reading Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning .

p.s. I've had an ereader for over a month and still have yet to read anything on it! I have 10 library books sitting on my nightstand, so it appears I will likely go at least another month without reading an ebook. I really have no need for ebooks in my life at this time when I can get any book I want from the library. I also find checking out multiple books from the library really pushes me to continue reading everyday because I know they have to be returned at some point. I only buy print copies of books I love 1-2 times per year.

message 5919: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I went into the Shadowfever thread without realizing which one it was (Email notification). I was confused about what people were talking about so I kept scrolling up to get to the part in the conversation I remember and then I saw V'lane and covered my eyes and clicked out really quick, lol.

message 5920: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I actually didn't see anything. I was lucky.

I don't mind spoilers when I go looking for them, but I have been avoiding that thread. I actually know nothing at this point, other then what I asked you about.

message 5921: by Bethany (new)

Bethany (b_shively) okay...I am trying to decide what to read next...here are my options: Shadowspell (Faeriewalker, #2) by Jenna Black Halo (Halo, #1) by Alexandra Adornetto Captivate (Need, #2) by Carrie Jones
which to you suggest?!?

message 5922: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Finished Impossible by Nancy Werlin the other day; it was a great read. Fairly light, fast, entertaining - and I loved the style of the narration, though I can't quite put my finger on why.

Have now started Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause , which is freaking me out a little so far...weird MC!

So glad you liked it, Catie! It's been one of my favourites for years - such a sweet book, which defied all my negative expectations at the time :)

message 5924: by Brandie (new)

Brandie Sump Because of a wonderful opportunity at my local library I am spending my book reading reading about India's History especially the rise and fall of the Raj period in that history so the first book I'm reading is Bhowani Junction and its getting really good. As well with my new Kindle app for my laptop, I am reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett and that one is also getting good. To top all of my reading, I am also reading The Hunger Games by Collins which is becoming very interesting and proving to be a quick read which is good.

message 5925: by Emmy (new)

Emmy Just started Red Riding Hood, really good so far!

message 5926: by BirdiesBookshelves (new)

BirdiesBookshelves I am devouring Rot & Ruin (Benny Imura, #1) by Jonathan Maberry right now. It is such a great book!

message 5927: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brandie The Help and Hunger Games were both excellent!

message 5928: by Brandie (new)

Brandie Sump Yep I know and agree with you Heidi. I am just thankful now that I have a chance to read both books.

It's Fantastic!!!!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I did it. I broke down and bought a Nook today. I'm currently travelling and had to pack 4 books to take with my on this trip. Then I said, "This is it" so... while on my trip I went right into B&N and bought one (after asking the guy about a million questions). I'm not going to mess with it until I get back home and have time to playa round, but still, it's a step in the right direction.

:D that thread has been haunting me too whenever I see updates on it. Lol. I'm still on Faefever myself, because life keeps on interrupting :p but I think it's best to savor it while we're at it as opposed to having Barrons withdrawal haha...

message 5939: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bexsi) I have finished Lover Awakened Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward The Third book in this excellent series is the best yet. Zsadist was amazing. 5 Stars
Spider's Bite Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep I would definitely recommend this book as a sexy, sassy read, especially if you're looking for the type of book where the female lead is strong, autonomous, smart and sexy. 3 Stars

Darkfever Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Darkfever is the first novel in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. This book is full of mystery, revenge and tension. If you're looking for a fantastic supernatural tale that doesn't degenerate into an orgy, this might just be the one for you dont judge this book by it cover. 4 stars

Bitten & Smitten Bitten & Smitten (Immortality Bites, Book 1) by Michelle Rowen They story is utterly captivating and fun. The heroine is very easy-going and she made me wonder numerous of times, if it is actually possible to keep such a cold head under such "disturbing" circumstances. I enjoyed reading this book immensely, and would definitely recommend it to paranormal romance/mystery fans.

Tempting the Beast Tempting the Beast (Breeds, #1) by Lora Leigh I like erotic fiction as much as the next person, and this series had real potential but it transcended a lot of the boundaries I'd previously read. This was the first Lora Leigh book I've read, and I was looking forward to trying something different, but now I won't be in any real hurry to rush out and read the rest of this series, unfortunately, unless they're a marked improvement from book one!. 3 stars for the plot

I am now reading The Iron Daughter The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa and A Hunger Like No Other A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole and still reading The Hollow by Jessica Verday

message 5940: by Liz (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'll read Nightshade for a group read too. I have it on my Kindle.

message 5942: by Haley (new)

Haley | 1 comments Gosh, I just started reading "Chasing Brooklyn" by Lisa Schroeder, got to page 41 and couldn't put the book down! I love to read all sorts of of books. This book though, is by-far my favorite. With all the tragadies going on,it kind of reminds me of my life. After I finish this book, on to a next one by Lisa Schroeder! She's such a good author!

Susan I'm going back to Twisted by Andrea Kane.

Connie Willis is one of my favorite authors. I hope you enjoy Doomsday.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments Yay! I have some takers for Nightshade. Are we supposed to make a discussion thread? I haven't done a buddy read in this group yet.

message 5946: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That would probably be best... unless there's already a Nightshade thread under 'series', but I don't think there is.

I'm reading Uglies too, but it's not been holding my attention. I think that I will like it by the time I'm done though. Nightshade was not bad for a shifter book, but the character of Shay was strangle worthy. Ren is a nice little distraction though.
