Shadowfever was the last book in the series and just came out Jan 18th, that's why your seeing a lot about it on Goodreads. It's one of my favorite series.

Haha, that's it exactly. I went to Borders last sunday and had Shadowfever in my hands to buy. My husband convinced me it would be cheaper off Amazon, which it was, but as of this morning it still hasn't shipped out yet and all I can think about was how I should have just bought it! (I ordered it Tuesday morning, for goodness sakes!)

If I had finished the series before Shadowfever's release I'd probably wouldn't be this whiney. But knowing I'm waiting for something in the mail that I can go grab at my Borders, or better yet in seconds on my Kindle! Well, gosh darn it, it's driving me crazy.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Just finished the ARC The Liar Society (The Liar Society, #1) by Lisa and Laura Roecker and I really like it. I love all that secret society stuff..LOL

I finished it in two days I think but I had to go to work and it was so annoying because I was really sick but my mom was coming into town and I was begging already for time off later in the week so I had to suffer through it with a cold and 500 pages of intrigue.

message 5855: by Heidi (new)

Heidi My copy of Shadowfever has arrived my ladies (and gents). I shall pick it up from the library tommorrow. p.s. I finished Across the Nightingale Floor (Tales of the Otori, # 1) by Lian Hearn and liked it - can't wait to read more :)

message 5856: by Arphaxad (last edited Jan 28, 2011 10:41AM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments So glad you enjoyed it, Heidi! I thought it was a really unique series - one I should re-read, actually, it's been ages.

Never seen that cover before, is that what your copy looks like? Ours all look like this Across the Nightingale Floor (Tales of the Otori, #1) by Lian Hearn

message 5857: by Heidi (new)

Heidi It is a pretty cheesy cover here if you ask me! How many books are in the series - 3?

There are four of them: Across the Nightingale Floor (Tales of the Otori, #1) by Lian Hearn Grass for His Pillow (Tales of the Otori, #2) by Lian Hearn Brilliance of the Moon by Lian Hearn The Harsh Cry of the Heron (Tales of the Otori, #4) by Lian Hearn and then a prequel Heaven's Net Is Wide (Tales of the Otori, #5) by Lian Hearn , which I've still not read! *tsk*

message 5861: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I put The Silver Tide (Woodstock Saga) by Michael Tod aside, not really getting into it, it's about squirrels, and it just doesn't fit what I want right now.

So, I decided to request some books of netgalley, and was approved for two non fiction books which are Battlefields And Blessings Iraq/Afganistan( Stories of Faith and Courage (Battlefields & Blessings) by Jane Hampton Cook and Stories of Faith&Courage from Firefighters&First Responders (Battlefields and Blessings) by Gaius and Sue Reynolds . They aren't YA, but I love reading these types of books, so figured I'd read and review them, especially since my boyfriend served in Iraq and is also a volunteer firefighter, so they kind of hit close to home.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Squirrels, huh? Okay, that made me laugh.

message 5863: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments Yeah, squirrels. I think elementary school children would like it, but honestly I couldn't get into it. It's even a short book, a little over 100 pages and it was free. I'll slug through it later when I can't find something to read, lol.

Happy Day! I'm not finished yet, but I can't wait to see what you think. So far I'm really happy with it. But it's the ending that can make or break a series and I'm hoping for a good one.

I was a loon and stayed up last night reading until 2:30AM!! I couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock (and I still didn't wanna put it down). I definitely think I'll be finishing it tonight. I'm starting Part 4 tonight.

message 5865: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Okay, I've put aside books I was starting to re-read due to restlessness, and finished my 2nd reading of A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin today at lunch.

That leaves an opening to start a new book. But what? I'm considering The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1) by Michael Scott , The Book Thief by Markus Zusak or The Last Thing I Remember (The Homelanders) by Andrew Klavan .

Or should I break down and download Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta or Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta ?

Decisions decisions...

message 5866: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lloyd did you get an ereader? I saw you said "download" in your comment. p.s. you should def. read The Book Thief. It is on my all time favorite list of books.

message 5867: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I liked The Alchemyst, the other books I haven't read.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Do you own any of those books or are they available at the library? I'm always of the opinion to start with whats available unless your in a rut or just aching to read a book.

message 5871: by Anne (new)

Anne | 1 comments Hi!
I just joined the group. I recently finished a very heavy, very adult novel titled "Room." While I couldn't put it down when I was done I decided it was time to turn back to the YA books I love. I read "The Giver" by Lois Lowery before I picked up "Room," and now I'm on to her second "Gathering Blue." After that I'll read the third in her series. Where do I go after that? Suggestions? Please :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Let me know how Gathering Blue is! I got it free (long story--I work for Girl Scouts which is a non-profit, National Geographic donated a bunch of books to Christian Appalachian Project which they didn't have warehouse space for which ended up at Burchman's Birds who called Girl Scouts to come get a bunch of books).

Not yet, but I've been using the Kindle application on my iPod for the past couple of months now. It's just so nice and convenient to use instead of carrying around books that I've grown accustomed to it. So it's only a matter of time... :)

Lloyd | 415 comments Cassi wrote: "Do you own any of those books or are they available at the library? I'm always of the opinion to start with whats available unless your in a rut or just aching to read a book."

Yeah, I have all of these books available. Well, except for Jellicoe Road and Finnikin. But I just had my birthday and requested my favorite thing...Amazon gift certificates. So right now I've got a nice little "bank" built up for downloading books! Yippee!!!

Wouldn't take much to twist my arm and tell myself, "Ah, heck, I'll just get 'em both!" :)

message 5875: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Yay indeed! I've loved her books for years - I'm sure I spent half my time devouring every one I could get my hands on back in school :)

Daine's series Wild Magic (Immortals, #1) by Tamora Pierce is one of my favourites, too - though Alanna's Alanna The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce will always top the list, followed by the Trickster books Trickster's Choice (Daughter of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce .

I'm finding Impossible by Nancy Werlin really enjoyable as well so far - the writing style as much as the story. Loving the down-to-earth, likeable characters, and it's a good quick read. Only problem is getting myself to put the book down and get back to work! Haha

Jen (jennifer_ashmy) | 242 comments Just finished Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly and I have to say that it's a tough book to get through because some moments are so overwhelmingly sad/depressing, but I forced myself to finish it and have to say - it's a really good book.

Am now reading Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead . Oh and I have bought Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer Origins (The Vampire Diaries Stefan's Diaries, #1) by Kevin Williamson & Bright Young Things (Bright Young Things, #1) by Anna Godbersen but I'm unsure about which one I should start reading next. Any suggestions?

message 5882: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Jen,

I would go with Nightshade but that is because I really want to read it right now and I have it but I have to get through some other books first. :(

No Cassi, i haven't. I would like to though if you know where I can find it. :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Yep! It was on Malinda Lo's blog (I only saw it through twitter, I haven't read her book)

Jen (jennifer_ashmy) | 242 comments Thanks guys ^^ Nightshade it is then!! (:

Stormi- I totally understand. I've actually been wanting to read Nightshade since it came out but I was going through too many books at the time so that's why I waited to buy it till now.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I finished Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning this morning!

I get to start Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward and Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta sometime soon! Can't wait.

thank you Cassi, i've read the blog and i think that it was a very good blog. :) seeing that diversity is becoming more popular in ya books is important since not every person on the planet is straight or white for that matter. :)

message 5888: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) My copy of Shadowfever still hasn't shipped from Amazon, BIG Sigh.

They did email me to let me know that they are shipping Tiger's Curse out for me now, which I ordered at the same time. Little do they know that it's not the one I'm dying for.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments What did you think of the ending of Dreamfever, Wendy?

message 5890: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I wonder why its taking so long to ship Shadowfever..unless they are out and waiting for some more to come in. :(

message 5891: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have a feeling that that's why, Stormi. It finally says 'preparing to ship' since yesterday, but hasn't shipped yet. I think they're toying with me. It's been 5 days since I ordered it.

Brittany... It was intense. I immidately cursed that I didn't have Shadowfever to start immediately. The cliffhanger at the end of Faefever was crazy, but it was nothing compared to the end of Dreamfever.

I just wish it would ship out already!

I feel your pain. I'm pretty sure I did some cursing too once i realized I had to wait a whole 6 months. I was like hawk at the library website once it was released. All I can tell you is that it's worth the wait. But it is so much more difficult knowing the book is out for public and you don't have it. I think you can still download the first 2 chapters from KMM's blog if you're really dying. But it does contain some spoilers though.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Starting What I Saw And How I Lied by Judy Blundell (library book)

message 5894: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) As hard as it is, I'll just wait. I don't want to read 2 chapters and then have to wait again. It is hard not to just go get the Kindle edition and be done with it, lol.

message 5895: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I'm on chapter four of Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning on my ipod and its just now starting to hold my interest and I am getting really curious as to what is going to happen next...lol.. I like Barrons already and he hasn't been in it much. :)

message 5896: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I just blew through them all, and I can attest to what everyone says. They just get better and better.

message 5897: by Vanesa (new)

Vanesa I'm currently reading "Vixen" by Jillian Larkin and finished reading "Bloom" by Elizabeth Scott and "Revolution" which was pretty amazing! I didn't care for "Nigthshade" but I think is my fault since I just finshed the Stray series by Rachel Vincent when I picked that one up :(

message 5898: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Each book in the Chaos Walking theory is better than the previous one IMO Catie. I gave TKONLG 3 stars, The Ask The Answer 4 stars, and Monsters of Men 5 stars!

message 5899: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) So supposedly Shadowfever shipped today... um, it's Sunday. There are no carriers moving today, so see, they're toying with me.

Amazon drives me nuts how they send you a shipping confirmation then its DAYS before it actually ships & appears in the postal system. (They probably notified the carrier for pick-up today--thats normally amazons first step)
