Heidi Hahaha! Wendy you are reminding me of my early days of cover angst about Darkfever. I even made fun of Peep about it (this was of course before my BDB book reading days!).
I will say that this cover Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning is much better than Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning -- of course my library had the later one as a cover!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) My cover looks like this... Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

And it's really really annoying that Goodreads doesn't have my cover as a paperback option even though what I have is this cover with a paperback... I tried to add it, because I'm anal and it's driving me insane, but GR wouldn't let me because your second cover shares the same ISBN as mine.

message 5603: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Why so many covers in the first place????

message 5604: by Jill (new)

Jill | 68 comments Okay!!! You have all convinced me to try Darkfever and Black Daggar Brotherhood series (Dark Lover?). So, the question is...which series to start first???

Heidi Jill wrote: "Okay!!! You have all convinced me to try Darkfever and Black Daggar Brotherhood series (Dark Lover?). So, the question is...which series to start first???"

If you want something lighter start with BDB - otherwise I would go with the Fever series.

message 5606: by Gwennie (last edited Jan 19, 2011 01:08PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hmmm, well I've read all the BDB's, so I'd say start with that one. I may change my mind after catching with Fever, but I love the BDB.

My Fever covers all match. They look like this...

Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning

I think she does a new cover for every printing. My copy of Bloodfever is the 7th printing.

message 5608: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I love my Kindle, but I find I miss alot. I love to fan my books. Hold them close to my face so I can feel the wind, lol. And the smell. Kindles are great for spacesaving, but it'll never replace an actual book for me.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I really enjoy both Fever and BDB for different reasons. Fever is an intense urban fantasy with lots of mystery and detail. BDB is just fun fluff.

I'm surprised there aren't any big Night Huntress fans here. That series is a nice medium between Urban Fantasy and PNR. It has a lot of the heat/steam from book 1 on, but still has a lot of action/plot driven storyline. It also has a strong heroine and a male lead that is just as appealing as Barrons.

message 5610: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Stacia you are cracking me up with your name changes!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Glad I can provide a source of amusement!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Becca wrote: "What part of Utah Brittany? It's where I live, lol!"

Well I have to go to Provo for an interview for grad school. Then I'm going to be spending the rest of my time in SLC with a few friends that live there.

It's going to have to be a quick 3-day trip, but I'm still looking forward to getting away. It only takes about 6 hours for me to get from my house to SLC. I was just out there this past August too.

I love SLC... Provo not so much, although in it's defense I was just driving through.

I like those covers Wendy. As Heidi was says, I was quite disgusted with the Darkfever cover when I got it from the library.

message 5614: by BirdiesBookshelves (new)

BirdiesBookshelves Just finished with Dark Flame (The Immortals, #4) by Alyson Noel . I was pretty disappointed with it so I decided to take a break from The Immortals series and start The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1) by Kimberly Derting . I am liking it so far and have high hopes!

I agree with "Stacia constantly changes her name for our enjoyment" I haven't technically finished either of these series, but I've read 3 BDB books and 4 fever books. Her accessment is pretty spot on.

I personally don't think I could read all BDB books consecutively, but I can only do fluff for so long. I needed to read other stuff in between. The fever books I did read consecutively because OMG the cliffhangers.

I'd definitely recommend them both though.

I feel like a puppet on a string now. :)

BDB is one that I wasn't able to read all 8 books back to back (although I did manage to choke down the last 4 within a couple of weeks of each other due to not being able to focus my mind on much of anything). It's too much of the same thing to be able to go the distance like that.

Shadowfever was epic. Just sayin...

I will probably finish out this month on my urban fantasy overdose, then start rotating in more sci-fi and fantasy in Feb.

Rebecca (bexsi) I have finished Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Halfway to the Grave This novel is an action packed page turner, which keeps the reader enthralled. I love the pace of this book, especially when it gathers speed towards it's exciting end. 5 stars

I'm on Part VI now. I'm feeling so sorry for Max Vandenburg's situation. This book is truly a masterpiece I must say.

Liz Fichera (lizfichera) @Julie - Am now at the point where I'm having to decide whether or not to finish NEED. Somebody please tell me it picks up. Started off strong, then it kinda lost me, and now I'm reading about pixies?

It's not what I expected but I'm willing to soldier on and give it a chance. But the whole pixie/fairy thing really threw me off. Wasn't expecting that at all. I'm also trying really hard to like the main character. I'm about halfway through at this point. It's not a long book--I should finish tonight.

message 5627: by Julie (new)

Julie | 17 comments @Liz: thanks :)

That's expected of YA novels, I experience the same thing too regarding the main characters. I especially hate it when they act so immature and irrational.

Kurukka It seems I'm not able to read these days. I'm more into tv show and shopping. I'm still stuck with The Amber Spyglass and I had a weird dream about it last night. It was about Lyra and Pan fleeing from some kind of Mrs Coulter and Glee characters were involved and Kurt died. What the hell. @_@

Becca | 1608 comments Wow, just finished Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop and this is the first time ever I've been completely at a loss on how to rate a book or even get off my chest how I felt about it.

The story was really intriguing and somewhat unique, but it was one of the darkest books I have ever read. Some of the things brought up and described in it...are literally making me sick to my stomach to think about. Anyone else read this series?

message 5642: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I'm jumping back and forth between Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness and A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin .

This is my second time with A Clash of Kings. The series is even better the second time around.

@ Jill,

Let us know what you think of them.
