Be proud, Ursula. I am not afraid to admit I enjoyed the Twilight series. I proudly sport a "Team Jacob" t-shirt. I can even give reasons: 1. That series helped get more teenage girls to read for fun; 2. It made me aware of the "young adult" genre which I am thoroughly enjoying now and 3. Jacob is dreamy.

message 5403: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've made my opinion on Twilight known, lol. But I will absolutely agree with you. It did make reading cool again, it did pull me back into the YA genre, and Jacob is dreamy. IMO he was the best part of that series.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Finished Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta late last night. Good thing I have no time for any more reading for a little while because it has ruined me for all other books. I LOVED it. Nothing else will compare.

message 5405: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It was wonderful. I loved it too!

Rachel (rmenard) | 6 comments Catie wrote: "Yep, Rachel I didn't really like Matched. You can read my review if you want to know what I thought about it. It was a hard one for me to get through."

I read your review. I'm only about halfway through but I agree with a lot of what you mentioned. I'm going to try and finish it, but it's hard to commit when I have so many others to read.

I have The Knife of Never Letting Goon my TBR pile. I might need some endearing characters after this.

message 5408: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) You will absolutely not be let down. That trilogy was... man I can't even think of words. I'll just say that it's been a long time since books have made me feel the way the Chaos Walking trilogy and Jellicoe Road did.

I guess they have cast Taylor Lautner for the lead in the movie - I didn't even know they were making it into a movie.

I'm seriously going to have to check some of her books out. I hear nothing but good things.

Becca | 1608 comments Jaimie wrote: "I guess they have cast Taylor Lautner for the lead in the movie - I didn't even know they were making it into a movie."

I'd heard that. It definitely reads more like a movie screenplay than a book.

message 5412: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lloyd do it!

message 5413: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Definitely Lloyd. Her writing has such a human apeal to it. And she is a master at manipulating your emotions as you read, but in a good way.

message 5414: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments The pressure! :)

You brought it upon yourself you know!

message 5416: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments My TBR list is pretty insane. Which of her books should I start with?

message 5417: by Heidi (new)

Heidi If you like fantasy start with Finnikin of the Rock, if you are impartial start with Jellicoe Road.

message 5418: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (marcher08) I just finished Austenland. Pretty good. Gread ending! I loved Princess Academy. This one was for an older audience.

message 5419: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I want to listen to Austenland on audio, but my library doesn't have it. Boo!

Lloyd | 415 comments Heidi I wrote: "If you like fantasy start with Finnikin of the Rock, if you are impartial start with Jellicoe Road."

Hmm...decisions, decisions. :)

Michelle (marcher08) Heidi I wrote: "I want to listen to Austenland on audio, but my library doesn't have it. Boo!"

With a good reader the audio would be really fun. I'd like to hear what you think if you do end up listening to it.

message 5422: by Heidi (new)

Heidi That is what I thought Lisa! If I find it I will keep you updated.

message 5423: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'd say start with Finnikin of the Rock. I loved Jellicoe Road the most, but I think already loving Melina because I read Finnikin helped me during the confusing start of Jellicoe.

message 5424: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Good point Wendy! I did the same thing. I went backwards with all of her books instead of starting with the oldest one first.

message 5425: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Right now the only one I have left is Saving Francesca and I'm trying really hard to wait until I can get Pipers Son.

message 5426: by Lloyd (last edited Jan 13, 2011 02:09PM) (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments So you all say Finnikin eh?

Let me get through some of these nine books I'm reading at the same time. :P

Big player, huh ? xP

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) He's a book slut.

message 5429: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments No. I just hit slump where I'm re-reading a few older books, then don't feel like one genre and start something else.

Or I'm a book whore. Either way. :P

(Normally I like just one book at a time.)

message 5430: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I just started Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

Nine books at the same time...Are you insane, wait don't answer that, lol. I have trouble sometimes reading two at the same time, depending on the stories, but nine I'd be lost completely!

message 5432: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Lloyd,

You sound like me, if I start any more books I will go insane!! LOL I need to stop buying books I really want to read and work on some that I already have! AAAAHHH :)

message 5433: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Thankfully, I think my 30+ years of former comic reading/collecting (as well as books) help me to keep from mixing stories together. But I need to read my way out of this mess so I can stick to the one at a time. It's been awhile since I've been mired in so many books at once.

As for my sanity...it's questionable lately. :P

I hope for your sake that you're able to plow through the books that you're reading, so you can finally just read one at a time......I'm glad you're able to keep from mixing....

I think everyone's sanity is questionable lately, hehe.......at least mine is....

message 5435: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments With working full time, being married and having a 4 year old son and wife demanding my time..."plowing" through books is not an option. But...I'm pluggin' away.

We'll see. Have to get there eventually! :P

message 5436: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments At least you're plugging away. I just plow through books because I ignore my boyfriend (he'll agree with me on this too, lol). If I'm reading a book and he wants attention, I tell him later or something. I only do that because he ignores me when he plays his Xbox.

message 5437: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Sara, you sound like me. My husband watches TV, I read.

message 5438: by Traci (new)

Traci hahahah that's hilarious because as I read, my boyfriend plays computer games. We're in the same room, but we might as well be on separate planets. I'm glad I'm not alone :)

My boyfriend and I will sit like 2 feet away from each other on our computers and chat on yahoo. I like playing games on the computer too. I mostly read my books online since I don't have my nook yet.

message 5440: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) wow this place has been very quiet today! :)

message 5441: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Or working. I actually got fed up trying to find time to read Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness and finally bought the ebook version for my iPod. It's much easier to find the time when I'm always carrying it around. But hauling around a huge hardcover? Not so much.

So I guess that would officially make me an ebook slut. :P

message 5442: by Tracy T. (new)

Tracy T. I finally picked up Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta Curse of the Blue Tattoo Being an Account of the Misadventures of Jacky Faber, Midshipman and Fine Lady (Bloody Jack, #2) by L.A. Meyer from the library. I plan on starting one of them this weekend.

message 5443: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lloyd I am shocked at your "loose" ebook buying behavior. Shocked I tell you! Where are your morals?

Tracy - both are great reads!

I'm easy...when it comes to books. :)

message 5447: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh ok Lloyd. You convinced me!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Do the books at least buy you dinner first?

At the very least. I have standards!

message 5450: by Heidi (new)
