Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
What are you reading now?
I agree Wendy. Nothing compares to real live books. I don't enjoy it as much when reading from my ipod. And I only do that when I feel its absolutely necessary.
Oh, sure, expose me for a freak when I'm just trying to open up. :PActually, I have been such a collector (used to collect comics for almost 30 years) that I have just become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of paper that I have not only on shelves, but boxed up in the garage, etc.
And now my OCD side won't have to worry about bending the spines, etc. I can't help looking at
and thinking how nice that set would look on a shelf. (Damn collector side of me!)Besides, I still haven't bought one yet, so I'm not totally committed. (Though maybe I should consider it, eh?) :D
Heidi I wrote: "Stormi you must read the Chaos Walking series! Loved it."I agree. It's good and worth the read. :)
Okay so I am reading the ARC of
and I don't know if its just the sci-fi feel of it or what but I just can't get into it. :( I am 36 pages in and just nothing real exciting has happened. Since its sort of a big book I am going to give it 100pages but after that if I can't do it, its going on the DNF shelf. :( I hate not finishing a book though.

Aw we would never think you're a freak. A guy a know his whole basement was his own library, he owned every single book that James Patterson wrote, and buys each one that comes out, I was in pure Heaven in his basement.
I like the Lost Hero cover, I haven't read it yet though, but it's on my to read list.
The only DTB I have read since I got my Kindle a year and a half ago is Catching Fire. I love my Kindle and never want to go back to "real" books.
I've only read one and a half books on my Kindle and I can already say honestly I prefer it. I can change the font size to my preferences and no need to worry about page turning or losing my page while turning (has happened to me).
Hey, Im in no way saying don't get a Kindle. I agree with you completely. I have way too many books, so a Kindle is nice in that way. I'm very glad I have it. It's just not quite as nice.

Oh, I didn't take it that way, Wendy. I was just sharing the Kindle love. :)

See...that's how easily I can talk myself into getting one again. :P(I just wish they were in stock NOW!!!)
Wendy wrote: "Did they say when they were getting new stock?"No. Just that they are on order and they aren't sure when they will be getting more.
Oh that totally sucks! It would drive me crazy knowing I had the money but couldn't get the ereader. Feeling your anxiety Lloyd. :( :)
Lloyd I am sure you want a Kindle, but they sell the ereader I bought at most Best Buy's for $119 - it is a Cruz Reader. It has a Kindle App on it, so I can get any Amazon ebook I want. I can also get ebooks from the library Overdrive, Borders, and B&N because I have apps for them. Just in case you are really anxious to get an ereader. No problem if you want to wait :)
Just a warning though that they aren't the same thing. The Cruz reader is backlit (I think), whereas the Kindle uses e-ink. It looks like you're looking at a book. I guess it would depend on what you want to do. As for the ereader vs. paper book debate - can't we all just get along? I am an equal opportunity reader.
I am a equal opportunity book reader....LOL I like getting ARC's of of Netgalley and they are in ebook form..and I also love shopping in the bookstore with the smell of paperback books....book heaven..lol
I'm a paper book gal as well. I've only read 2 books on my Nook and it's just not the same. anyway.. just finished
which I loved!Going to start

I want an actual hardcopy of a book. I love flipping pages and re-reading favorite parts or looking up things I've forgotten. I guess that would be why I haven't yet gotten an ereader. That being said, when I travel I think an ereader/kindle/whatever else is out there would be fabulous. Especially if you can access library books from them.
I don't own an e-reader yet, I have my e-readers on my computer, which works perfectly since I'm at my computer quite a bit. I really want a Nook, so when I'm out of town, I can have my book(s) with me, I hate going days without reading, it just puts a damper in my mood.
I'm right at halfway through Nightshade, but I can't make myself wait anymore. I'm starting Awakened as soon as I'm done with the chapter I'm on!

I just love flipping through pages and fanning the book. I'll hold my book while I talk to my husband and just flutter the pages in my hands. Relaxing.
