I can't wait to read that one - I've got the free preview on my Nook, but I've got the real thing on order for my library. Hope it gets here soon!

message 5055: by Traci (new)

Traci finished Deadly Little Games (Touch, #3) by Laurie Faria Stolarz today.. now I'm off to start The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger . I've never read this one and I'm pretty excited to see what the hype's all about.

message 5057: by Katlyn (new)

Katlyn Quinn | 3 comments About to embark on the fourth book of the Bartimaeus Trilogy, 'The Ring of Solomon'. (Yes, that is an oximoron. I think it's a prequel.) We shall see...

message 5058: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (closer2coma86) | 83 comments I'm reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I listened to it on audio when it first came out. My brother bought it for me for Christmas, but it doesn't have blue text! So sad....

I've read the first one, but haven't gotten to this one yet, but it's on my to be read list. If you like that series, you should try The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson . So far there is 6 books but number 7 comes out soon!!!

I'm starting "The Ring of Solomon" next after I'm done with Sarah's Key. I love and miss Bartimaeus!!

message 5061: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Megan, I am reading Witch and Wizard but I am having a hard time getting into it. I am about half way through, I hope it gets better.

message 5062: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments I finished Bloody Jack #8 and of course I loved, loved, loved it. Best series ever!

message 5063: by Megan (new)

Megan (megg_reads) | 34 comments Mindy, its not the best book ever, but it did pick up more for me the further I got into it. So far in The Gift, its safe for me to say that im enjoying it more than the first.

Sarah, thanks for the recommendation! I read some reviews on those today and will adding them to my To read list!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Carmel wrote: "Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean about the blue text (I haven't read her books yet)?..."

Shiver's text inside the hardcover is supposed to be blue, and in the sequel Linger it's supposed to be green. It's sort of a lighter version of a grayscale/black though, so it's not garishly bright or hard to read.

message 5065: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 13 comments Grave Peril by Jim Butcher. It's the third book of The Dresden Files (about the wizard Harry Dresden) and I'm really enjoying the series so far.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) They're just doing a theme. The font color matches the covers.

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I have The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith , The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1) by Brent Weeks , Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price , Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta and Afterlight (The Dark Ink Chronicles, #1) by Elle Jasper all waiting to be read. I'm not sure where to start...

*I should place bets as to how many tell me to read Finnikin ; )

message 5068: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Elizabeth I just started Dash & Lily's Book of Dares. I also bought Secondhand Charm and The Fiddler's Gun. And I got The Wake of the Lorelei Lee: Being an Account of the Adventures of Jacky Faber, on her Way to Botany Bay. Super excited. This is going to be a lovely winter break :D

message 5069: by Linda (new)

Linda (lindajoysingleton) | 41 comments You'll really like CLOCKWORK ANGEL! Great book! I also really enjoyed WHITE CAT by Holly Black.

PS -- For the month of January my book, DON'T DIE DRAGONFLY, is a free download from Amazon for Kindle. This psychic series is lighter than most YA's but fast-paced, mysterious and romantic.

Someone posted about that on twitter. Since I'm so new to having a Kindle I was like "YAY FREE BOOK" and downloaded it already...(haven't started it yet...working through the Christmas gift books first)

Forever's is going to be red. I like the color changes. It goes with the lyrical emotion of the books.

message 5072: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments So, I just finished reading Something, Maybe by Elizabeth Scott and it was a super cute short little romance. I really enjoyed it. It was pretty predictable, but I really loved the characters. It put me in mind of North of Beautiful. Not quite as awesome, but still pretty well done.

message 5073: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm about halfway through The DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) by Kody Keplinger . So far, it's about three stars for me.

message 5074: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Just started Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2) by Charlaine Harris . It's pretty entertaining. I haven't really heard great things about the Sookie books, but I'm enjoying them so far..

message 5075: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I really liked the Sookie books however I didn't really care for Living Dead in Dallas.

message 5076: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Uh Oh. Well there sure is alot going on and I am only 40 pages in. Good to know you liked the others though.

I really liked it! The whole series is extremely good, in my opinion :D

I loved the first 8 or so Sookie books. I got the boxed set for Christmas a few years ago, but there's too many of them to reread before the new ones come out and I can never really remember what's going on in them anymore XD But the beginning ones are super good. Ooh Eric Northman. Swoon.

message 5079: by Amanda (last edited Jan 03, 2011 12:38PM) (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I like the later ones mostly because of Eric Northman. I think he is hilarious and "Bill the Vampire" drove me a little nuts with his cheesy crap in the first books. The storyline kept me interested but it's another one of those series I think is ready to end. Books 3-8 are my favorite.

message 5080: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments There are more than 8 books, wow. Good thing they are small, quick reads! And vampire Bill is definitely very cheesy.

message 5081: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Book #11 comes out this year Dead Reckoning

message 5082: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's on my TBR list, haha.

I like the series too. I mean, it isn't amazing writing and the story is getting a bit crazier, but as long as Northman is still in them I'll continue reading.

I liked Dash & Lily. It was cute. Yay for Bloody Jack! I am only up to book 5 (Mississippi Jack).

message 5084: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can't wait to start that series.

I just found out that The Land of Painted Caves is coming out in March! I've been waiting 9 years for the conclusion to the Earths Children series! I'll have to reread all of the Clan of the Cave Bear books now!

message 5085: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments I would love to move along with Bloody Jack but I want the audio and my library doesn't have it. I refuse to buy it off Itunes for 20 bucks.

message 5086: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I am only on Book #3 but I like the Sookie Stackhouse books..and I think I am the only one that likes Vampire Bill...LOL Though I do like Eric. I also am likiing the werewolf Alcide. :)

I just finished Rosebush by Michele Jaffe and it was pretty good. If you like books like The Lying Game or Pretty Little Liars to me it was sort of in that catagory though it was a bit different.
Starting the ARC of Across the Universe by Beth Revis really don't remember asking for it to review from the tour spot it came from so hopefully I will like it, its a bit out of my genre area. :)

Check out the free Library of Philadelphia. They have a cheap annual subscription rate and a nice sized catalog. I think Heidi was signing up and she said they had all the books.

message 5088: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Stormi: I'm reading Across the Universe next as well. Actually, I already started it but stopped to read two other books.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Kourtni wrote: "I would love to move along with Bloody Jack but I want the audio and my library doesn't have it. I refuse to buy it off Itunes for 20 bucks."

My library skips number 4 for some reason in audio. So I ordered the CDs off of Amazon (I listen when I drive & my ipod seems to have died and my adapter previously died). It was like $22 or $25 and I like the books/narrators so much it was just worth it for this specific series (others I can wait for the library on)

message 5090: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Peep,

I hope its good because its looks like a Sci-fi book and that is not usually something I read..lol.

I mailed in $15 to join the Philadelphia Free Library (thanks Peep!) because their overdrive has Mississipi Jack on audio. None of my libraries have the audiobooks for books 5 through 8. Boo! I can't wait to get my card in the mail so I can get it!

Whoops I missed this comment! Yes they have them Peep :)

message 5093: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments I will check that out, thanks Peep and Heidi! I absolutely love the Bloody Jack narrator so I have been holding out on reading them. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the books.

message 5094: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) You guys should also check out CCLS. I just checked and it costs $20 for a membership there. You can sign up online but you have to email them and tell them you are out of state and want to just use the digital resources. They are really nice.

http://www.ccls.org/cwo/My_Account/Li...

They are really good at adding new and good books. They have things that the Philly library doesn't have.

Here are some of their YA/kids titles sorted by when it was added. My hold list is GROWING!

http://overdrive.ccls.org/C5880B71-76...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The Golden Spiral (Hourglass Door Trilogy, #2) by Lisa Mangum and Born of Ice (The League, #3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . Loving both series so far which makes me excited!

message 5096: by [deleted user] (new)

Will check it out, Peep!

I am starting my re-read of Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning before Shadowfever comes out. :)

Yaaayy! I'm re-reading Fever too!

message 5098: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Please do Shannen. I need someone else who will grin as big as me. Sooooo many books. I don't know what to do.

message 5099: by [deleted user] (new)

i started to read YA books to screen them before my 12 yr old niece could and I really enjoy them. It's just purely entertainment and just fun to read. Now I am reading Personal Demons and The Lost Saint and enjoying both.

message 5100: by [deleted user] (new)

Reading The Scorch Trials right now... it's been on my shelf since it came out but I keep buying new books that I end up reading first... sigh. Basically I shouldn't be allowed in book stores unsupervised. I just went tonight with my sista (who doesn't count as supervision as she encourages me to buy more) and bought Matched and Revolution . Can't wait to read them both but I WILL read this one first! =)
