Will anyone be reading the Sequels to this book?

message 2: by HeyT (new)

HeyT Depends on how depleted my TBR pile is.

J-Lynn Van Pelt | 43 comments I have City of Ashes sitting at my desk right now and am looking forward to getting into it later this month.

City of Glass comes out March 24, 2009.

Ashley (readerandwriter) Of course. Once I start a series, I have to finish it, especially if it is really good. I already have City of Ashes and will be reading it once I am finished with City of Bones. City of Glass sounds like an interesting book.I can't wait until it comes out.

Ms. Hicks | 25 comments Yes, I'm looking forward to it. I have some must read books for work and school - but this is high on my pleasure list. I tend to put books in a series higher than other books on my to-read list.

Suzanne | 7 comments I can't NOT read the next book. I must know what happens; I've already got a copy waiting for me to pick it up.

Malena (badgalmalmal) I just finished City of Ashes. I'm so excited about the next one!

PandaRanda I'm reading City of Ashes right now and it's killing me!!! I'm meant to be studying for my mock exams but I can't when I'm constantly being distracted by that shiny book of angst-ridden, teenage urban fantasy! Oh it's too much! And then when I'm done I'll have to bite my nails waiting for the last book.

ARGH! And they better not be brother and sister T_T, it makes me so sad...it's so screwed up and ew SIMON! D:

Elaine (readingrat) | 24 comments I probably will eventually. I didn't really care for the first 11 chapters, but the rest of the book was very arresting - good enough to get me interested in the rest of the series.

message 10: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ I read City of Ashes and it rocked!! can't wait for the third one!

Nikki (nikk329) | 32 comments I'm with Elaine, I probably will at some point, and I also didn't care for first 10 or so chapters but the rest was interesting enough.

I am going to go ahead and read the next one. I am curious what is going to happen. I didn't ever read the sequels to the Uglies but this one is a must read.

message 13: by Brigid ✩ (new)

message 17: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ yup!!! in like ... i want to say in comes out in february, but i'm not sure. maybe in march? uh. i'll check. XD

message 18: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ hmm ... looks like it comes out in march. most websites say it comes out on the 24th. march 24, 2009.

Spoilers for the second book:

I was surprised that the second book kept the brother/sister love affair going! I really enjoyed Simon's story!

message 20: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ more spoilers:

well, i guess it's not really that surprising, since it's probably going to turn out that they're not brother/sister. cuz that would suck. and it would be really weird. plus, simon annoys me; he's soooo whiney.

I have City of Glass on reserve at the library! Can't wait for it to come out!

Malena (badgalmalmal) Neither can I. Bring on March 24! I need confirmation that Jace & Clary aren't related. I refuse to believe it.

message 23: by Angie, YA lovin mod!! (new) - rated it 3 stars

Angie | 2687 comments Mod
I refuse to believe it too!

message 24: by Debbie (new) - added it

Debbie | 30 comments Angie you are so lucky your library lets you reserve it already! Our library won't until they actually order it and that is only if they ordered it when it first comes out. :(

I can't believe Jace and Clary are related either. They so belong together as a couple.

message 25: by Angie, YA lovin mod!! (new) - rated it 3 stars

Angie | 2687 comments Mod
Yea I like that my library does that. The only problem is though you have to keep checking a few months before a book or movie comes out so you can get on the list early. For City of Glass I am number 5 so I am excited about that!

message 26: by Debbie (new) - added it

Debbie | 30 comments That is so awesome! I hope I can get it when it comes out.

message 27: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Yay I'm so excited for City of Glass!! :D I, too, have it on reserve at the library, and I'm waiting very impatiently ... >.< If it turns out that Jace and Clary are actually related, I will scream and throw the book against a wall. Seriously. lol

message 28: by Angie, YA lovin mod!! (new) - rated it 3 stars

Angie | 2687 comments Mod
It would be so awkward if they are related!

message 29: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ omg, i read city of glass a few weeks ago.
GODDD it was AMAZING. best of the series, in my opinion. :] i won't give anything away though ... lol ;)

message 30: by Debbie (new) - added it

Debbie | 30 comments I read it last week too and it was great! Although I thought Clary was a little bratty in this one.

message 31: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ she was always a little bratty though ... lol. to be honest i'm not a big clary fan. but JACE IS SO AWESOME!! lol :D

I just want my copy from the library already! It is like they loan them out to the workers first and THEN loan them out to the public! I have been #5 on the wait list forever!

message 33: by Debbie (new) - added it

Debbie | 30 comments LOL. Well, it's been awhile since I read the first two so I guess I forgot about Clary. Jace is totally awesome though :)

Angie-I have heard of some libraries letting the workers put holds on books first. Hope you get your copy soon!

message 34: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Yes, Jace is amazing. He's on my list of fictional guys I want to marry. :] lol

lol i tried requesting it from the library, but I couldn't wait. So I ordered it on amazon, got it in the mail, and read the whole thing within 24 hours. It is TOTALLY worth buying. It was soooo amazing! :D

Although, my favorite is the first one,I highly recommend book three of the series. There is a great turn of events and you end really satisfied.

Heather (literaturecrazy) | 3 comments Jess wrote: "... There is a great turn of events and you end really satisfied."

I totally agree, I tended to like each book a little less than the previous one, but the ending of the series was really good.

message 39: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ i thought they got increasingly better as they went along ... and the end was awesome. :)

Remember this thread contains spoilers:

So I have about 100 pages to go. Really thought this was a good book, a long book, but a good book. I have issues with a few things. LIke for example, was that demon supposed to be raping Aline? That was weird... no one said it but it was certainly being hinted at.

Plus ok what is with Clary and Jace? They were really going to sleep together knowing they were brother and sister? I mean I know we find out they aren't really. But at the time they thought they were. She let him spend the night and what not. I knew the only reason the book was keeping that going was because we were going to find out they weren't related. But still, gross!

And then she does kiss Sebastien who is her brother???? That wasn't even necessary. Aside from all the incest going on this book has been really exciting and fun. I wonder though that none of the world knows any of this is going on?

Who does everyone think is on the cover of the third book? At first I thought Alec but then I noticed that there are wings behind the guy on the cover. So then it can't be Sebastien either?

message 43: by Jess (last edited May 29, 2009 05:02PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jess (jessysbookends) | 27 comments The one in the cover is Sebastien.

HUmmm... I wonder what is with the wings? She says she doesn't have control over the art on the cover so whoever drew the cover must've not realized what Sebastien is.

Probably, but she should take control. It's her work!!!

message 46: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ the wings are symbolic ... i think it refers to the dream Clary had in City of Ashes

Who do you think Simon would be better ending up with? Personally I like Isabella. I think she would be better for him then a werewolf. Even though technically she should be hunting him.

message 48: by Jess (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jess (jessysbookends) | 27 comments I like Isabella too. She is perfect for him, she is kind of explosive and he keeps her centered. Let's see what Cassandra Clare does with Simon. I read she's working on a Simon's book

Yea that is what I read too. And a book about the Shadowhunters but like 140 years before Clary.

Brigid ✩ awesomesauce!!
haha yeah simon and isabelle are kinda cute together ... although izzy's a little weird sometimes. esp in city of glass ... O_o
