Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Re-listened to Halfway to the Grave. Now Halfway through One Foot in the Grave by.

Tavia Gilbert's voice for Bones has grown on me, a lot. I'm actually enjoying it very much.

Hope to finish the next two before This Side of the Grave comes out on the 22nd.

Now to go re-read Vic's instructions for getting the book titles and authors highlighted so they show up to the right..... Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost Jeaniene Frost

Looks like I did it even if they aren't in the right spots. Thanks Vic!

Carolyn F. Finished Son of the Morning audiobook, Natalie Ross does a great job.

message 53: by Lea's Audiobooks (new)

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) Carolyn - I enjoyed Son of the Morning in print but was totally captivated by Ross in the audio version. Audio is definitely my favorite of the two and I think helps me accept the leads' odd relationship development (are they together - are they not?).

message 54: by Yz the Whyz (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 4 comments Finished KMM's Shadowfever last night. Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross' performances were just great.

Started LKH's Bullet today. Not really that excited since Kimberly Alexis is the one narrating. I'm partial to Christine Holloway. For me, she is Anita.

I agree!

I'm listening to Rapture in Death.

If you're still looking for Changeless, my library has them through NetLibrary. Interestingly though Overdrive does not have it. Hopefully you have access to Net Library and can snag it!!

message 57: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (thebooktician) I just finished Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr . and am debating starting Shelter Mountain (Virgin River, #2) by Robyn Carr or Dream Man by Linda Howard or Portrait in Death (In Death, #16) by J.D. Robb . Thoughts? Recommendations?

message 58: by Brenda (last edited Feb 16, 2011 09:39AM) (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Thanks for the heads up about NetLibrary Tracy, if I renew my library card to the library in the City (two hours away) I can, as of the first of the year, have access to NetLibrary...

As far as a recommendation ...Dream Man all the way! :)

I'm starting Shelter Mountain (Virgin River, #2) by Robyn Carr today, I pick that one Tracy.

message 60: by Lynleigh (last edited Feb 16, 2011 05:24PM) (new)

Lynleigh (lynleighlove) I just finished listening to Comanche Moon. The narrator was irritating. It sounded like she had a bad cold and I could hear every intake of breath. Nevertheless, the book was excellent!! I'm tempted to complete the series.

@Tracy: I'd go for Dream Man. The story is great!

message 61: by comfort (last edited Feb 16, 2011 02:38PM) (new)

comfort | 42 comments I just finished Tough Customer by Sandra Brown

narrator Victor Selznick(sp)- must go check that out. Does really acceptable womens voices and fantastic gruff males- on par with Phil Gigante.

Recommendations- I do like some Sandra Brown- usually a reasonable crime/thriller and good love scenes

message 62: by Barbie (new)

Barbie | 24 comments Sorry I have been busy this month it getting close to midterms . Lea I heard I switch by sandra brown but I was not very impressed. I man i enjoyed some of the twists and turns but I like figuring out why it happened and I figured by the 1st hour the most obvious thing happened. I dont want to give too much away.
yester i finished listening to charlie all nite by jennifer c. I loved it ! Its soooo funny and wierdly it relatable even though it was written in the early 90's.

message 63: by Carrie (last edited Feb 17, 2011 07:48AM) (new)

Carrie | 296 comments I finished listening to Heaven, Texas and Dream a Little Dream on audio. I'd read them both, but this was the first time on audio. I already loved Heaven, Texas, but in print I only gave Dream 3 stars. After listening to it, though, I definitely would give it 4 stars. I still don't like Ethan or Cal much in this book, but Anna Fields' wonderful narration makes everything better. ;-)

message 64: by Lea's Audiobooks (new)

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) Barbie - the problem with Sandra Brown is that sometimes they are great and sometimes not great at all. I have discovered that I enjoy those narrated by Victor Slezak. Others are not a guarantee by any means - especially those originally written in the 80s and 90s.

I don't see an unabridged version of The Switch. Did you listen to the abridged version? I'm unfamililar with Jan Maxwell.

Doesn't Edward's little voice in Dream a Little Dream just break your heart?

message 66: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 296 comments @ Lea~
Fields did a good job with the child's voice, which could have come across like a cartoon but didn't.

message 67: by Barbie (new)

Barbie | 24 comments Jan maxwell did an okay job. But I would suggest if you want to listen to a sandra brown thriller/ suspen. The witness. That scared the crap out me and shocked me.

On SEP Dream a little dream note..I love that book!! I liked how she mixed a religious message with the characters. I loved the part where Rachel touches the little girl. I believe that there are faith healers, people who can talk to ghosts/spirits and the "mediums" out in the world . We just have to have faith. Its to me is amazing how Rachel is willing to give up for her child.I love strong Heroines.

message 68: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I'm listening to The Making of June, it's better than the reviews so far.

message 69: by Diane (new)

Diane Mason | 129 comments I finished The Masque of the Black Tulip (Pink Carnation, #2) by Lauren Willig and started The Deception of the Emerald Ring (Pink Carnation, #3) by Lauren Willig . :)

message 70: by comfort (new)

comfort | 42 comments Listening to The Silken Web by Sandra Brown an older book that she updated a few years later as her initial publisher went bust.

Not bad so far

message 71: by Diana (new)

Diana (dianadcmd) When I accepted Audible's suggestion to merge with my Amazon account all of my audios popped up on my kindle. Now they're on three devices. I've yet to use kindle for listening since iPod and iPhone are much easier to carry around.

Does anyone else stick your iPod in your bra? :) I commute on Metro where there has been a rash of iPhone thefts. I figure a grab and run thief would have to be pretty bold to snatch at my chest assuming he even knew it was there. My cell phone was stolen out of my coat pocket when a pickpocket bumped into me on the escalator. So now I'm a bra storage gal

message 72: by Vic (new)

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments I don't have any of my audible books on my kindle - I think the battery dies after about 4 hours of audio.

No, I don't usually put my ipod in my bra - though I have before! :)

LOL. Fortunately (I guess) I'm not in situations where that's necessary (our public transport is practically non-existent). It's a good thing 'cause I have an iPod Touch!

message 74: by comfort (new)

comfort | 42 comments Absolutely put the ipod in the bra-especially when I am out walking or gardening

message 75: by Terra (new)

Terra (terralyne) | 28 comments I started listening to No Chancebut the narrator, Coleen Marlo, has that crazy inflection at the end of every sentence (the one that anyone having a "normal" conversation would never use). Ironically, I also checked out Love Me If You Dareat the same time and (didn't realize) it's the same narrator! Ugh! lol I don't know about you guys...but I just can't trudge through listening to a book when the narrator's voice is so ridiculously distracting. So, I will be attempting to listen to Sex, Murder And A Double Latte next....fingers crossed!

message 76: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Finished listening to RUTHLESS (does that get to count as my first in a new series for the challenge ?) and then re-listened to a bit of OUTLANDER. Jumped into HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE and am quite taken with it. Thought that Bones's accent would be unbearable but it's okay. Hated it in FIRST TOUCH OF CRIMSON but it's okay in this one. Oh, and read MOON CALLED though I couldn't get into CRY WOLF (the love story was already set up -- what a drag!). Dl'd the newest Lisa Kleypas SOMEWHERE I'LL FIND YOU and that may come next. I do find it really depends on my mood.
I need some new recommendations!

Did you read the novella Alpha and Omega before Cry Wolf? It's the love story setup and is awesome.

message 78: by MaryK (new)

MaryK | 168 comments Krissie wrote: "I need some new recommendations! "

Check out the "5 Credits at Audible - What would you buy?" topic. It'll probably turn up some good recs. I'm about to post some recent purchase/wish list info (though I'm always behind on current releases).

message 79: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Is Alpha and Omega on audio?

message 80: by MaryK (new)

MaryK | 168 comments Krissie wrote: "Is Alpha and Omega on audio?"

No, unfortunately. Vic was moaning about that recently so I know. :)

You should read it though. It's possibly the best PNR novella ever. Briggs wrote it as a stand alone then it turned into a series and she was stuck with the relationship already established.

message 81: by Kaetrin (new)

Kaetrin | 93 comments @ Krissie - I second (or third?) the rec for reading the Alpha & Omega novella. It really is more like the first 1/4 or 1/3 of the book and I think it's essential reading to enjoy Cry Wolf. You can buy it either in the anthology or separately as an eNovella so the investment is pretty small and the pay off = huge. I wish they would put it on audio though!!

message 82: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Well, crap. I bought the entire book -- didn't see it as an e-novella. But it's upstairs on my Kindle, just waiting for me. Yum!

message 83: by Kaetrin (new)

Kaetrin | 93 comments Well, Alpha & Omega is pretty good so it will probably be worth it for that alone - who knows maybe you will love the other stories too! Let us know what you think of A&O. :)

message 84: by Beccam (new)

Beccam | 4 comments Hello.
I'm listening to The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold at the moment.

I am really enjoying it, the narator, Lloyd James is very good, and each character has a distinct voice.

I haven't read the book (which I usually do, before buying the audio version) and really had to concentrate to get all the names right in my head at first.

I am half way through and will be looking forward to the next book in this series/world - Paladin of Souls

message 85: by Vic (new)

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments Listening to Treachery in Death by J.D. Robb. :) Have This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost queued up next. :-D

message 86: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments You can feel better Krissie, Amazon hasn't offered the single Kindle download of Alpha and Omega for at least 6 months. I agree with Kaetrin it's worth the full book anyway. :)

Heading to Audible for This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost and will follow that up with Treachery in Death (In Death, #32) by J.D. Robb

message 87: by Diana (new)

Diana (dianadcmd) Listening to an old favorite Darkling I Listen by Katherine Sutcliffe read by Alyssa Bresnahan (too lazy to look up correct spelling). Highly recommend. I wrote a review at Audible the first time I listened to it.

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 225 comments I just stocked up on some audio...took advantage of the 40% off sale

Thorn Queen (Dark Swan, #2) by Richelle Mead Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare Magic Lost, Trouble Found (Raine Benares, #1) by Lisa Shearin This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris

Can't decide where to start...

Tough Customer by Sandra Brown One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost The Silken Web by Sandra Brown Long Time Coming by Sandra Brown Girl in Landscape by Jonathan Lethem Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments OK, I was thinking Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh was coming out 2/22. Finally twittered Tantor and they said 2/28. Maybe I knew that and forgot but thought I'd let you guys know.

And UGH on the photo for the audio edition. I'll DEFINITELY be pasting the book cover in for my iTunes cover!

What is it with the funky covers for the audio books....they should just use the regular book cover...I hate the ones for the Night Huntress Series...the book covers are way better

message 92: by Lea's Audiobooks (new)

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) Vic - I thought it was the 22nd as well but when I checked Tantor's site this past weekend, I saw the same. I know that was the original date but don't know my source. For all I know, I could be your source of misinformation!

message 93: by Vic (new)

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments Nichole wrote: "What is it with the funky covers for the audio books....they should just use the regular book cover...I hate the ones for the Night Huntress Series...the book covers are way better"

I TOTALLY agree! I think the deal is that sometimes the audio publisher doesn't want to pay for the licensing of the book cover or something.

I could maybe see it for graphic/digital artists who do covers (Dan Dos Santos: http://www.dandossantos.com/gallery.htm - known for covers for Patricia Briggs and others; Chris McGrath: http://www.christianmcgrath.com/MainP... - known for covers for Jim Butcher, Seanan McGuire and others). But those audiobooks seem to be getting those NICE covers!

What gets me is not getting the covers done by the publishing department of the book publisher. *shrug*

Diane Mason | 129 comments I finished The Deception of the Emerald Ring (Pink Carnation, #3) by Lauren Willig today and started The Seduction of the Crimson Rose (Pink Carnation, #4) by Lauren Willig .

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments Archangel's Consort FINALLY added to audible (US)

message 96: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments The covers to books are owned by the artists, not the publishers. I get cover approval from Tantor, but I figure it's no biggie. The photo will be pretty tiny anyway. At least I stopped them from putting a contemporary cover on RUTHLESS.

message 97: by Brenda (last edited Feb 28, 2011 10:04AM) (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Yea! Thanks for the heads up about Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh Vic, I had it stuck in my head that it was coming out tomorrow,

because most good things River Marked (Mercedes Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs come on Tuesdays. :)

For now Nalini Singh will provide a great listen for the day of house cleaning I have planned.

I stuck with the paperback book cover of Consort because it is much prettier than the audiobook cover IMO.

message 98: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I just finished The Making of June and Cry Wolf. I'm now listening to Hunting Ground and Murder List.

message 99: by Diana (new)

Diana (dianadcmd) I'm hoarding my 7 credits like a crazy woman. Problem is I've tried quite a few firsts of paranormal series and haven't fallen on love enough to commit.

Finished Fire and Ice last night and I'm going to do a complete replay. New-to-me narrator is fabulous. Her range is amazing...deep zen-like baritone for Reno and a girlish (oddly, not annoying) voice for Jilly. She nails all the support cast as well. Good one! I'm thinking about listening to entire Ice series again. Well, except for the one where Killian sounds like Pepe Le Pew. :)

message 100: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Oh, that's wonderful to hear! I'm holding off on listening until I can concentrate on the new Ice book. Right now I'm doing historical and paranormal proposals so that's what I'm listening to.
Hey, I love Pepe le Pew! But you're right . The narrator never got the point that he was really American and dropped any accent.
I'm so glad they got it right. In ICE BLUE Reno sounded like Charlie Chan.
