I just finished Bitter Seeds which I enjoyed despite normally avoiding alternate history books. I'm not sure what to start next though.
I'm currently reading The Heroes, which is every bit as good as Abercrombie's previous 4 books. If you liked his previous 4 books that is.I also just started listening to the first Mistborn book by Brandon Sanderson, The Final Empire. I'm about a quarter of the way through and so far, I gotta say, pretty great book.
Just finished House of Suns. First book I've read by Alastair Reynolds. Pretty good, but didn't quite live up to the high expectations I had based on a recommendation. Moved on to Into the Storm. Anyone read any from this series? I just started it and don't know quite what to expect yet.
Gail Z. Martin Is a fantastic author I love. She just started a new series following her last 4 in The Summoner series "Chronicles of the Necromancer". Her new book is called The Sworn and It follows suit with her last few. I've been looking for an author that writes good original Fantasy, and I thought I was just out of luck. ...Until I saw this on the shelf. Seriously, just try it out.
I'm finishing up The Stand. 91% as of last night. I hope to finish it before the end of the month. Then it looks like it's on to The Hunger Games.I watched the first quarter of the miniseries of The Stand last night as well. Molly Ringwald FTW!
Currently, I am still working on Game of Thrones, but also reading Steven Saylor's A Gladiator Only Dies Once and listing to The Last Days of the Incas.

Unfortunately this is another one that is unavailable on Audible UK. I am really sick and tired of titles not being available in the UK that you have. Isn't this supposed to be the age of the Internet? Age of the greedy barstard publishers more like.
I'm reading Redwall and am planning on reading the whole series this year to honor the passing of Brian Jacques.I think it is going to be slow going since I'm in school now...
Just started The Name of the Wind. So far I like it. The opening pages had a "mood" to it that I liked. Even though I could barely keep my eyes open last night, I continued to read until my iPad fell out of my hands and startled me awake. I'll need to re- read the last bit, since I was really sleep-reading, but I didn't want to put it down.
So finally finished the A Feast for Crows and not ready to go the distance with #5 A Dance with Dragons I read World of Warcraft: Chronicles of War, another "big" book (772 pages), but I guess you could count as being 3 books. It was the paper version, the first one I have read in sometime. Back on the Kindle now with The Windup Girl. I know I am late to the party on this one, but really enjoying it all the same.
I am currently reading The Born Queen by Greg Keyes. On my list after that is The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett, Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb, and Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. After that, I plan on reading Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld, The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin, The Magician's Apprentice by Trudi Canavan, The Ruling Sea by Robert V.S. Redick, The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, and Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss (after March 1st and that book will move to the top of the list).Plus, I'm going to catalog all of my books that are currently in storage and there will be a few old series that I need to finish as well.

Speaking of greedy publishers, anyone else finding themselves avoiding kindle books without text to speech enabled? I like this feature for the drive to/from work.

Don't forget The Desert Spear, the sequel to The Warded Man.

I was just listening to an old interview with George, where he is sorry for 'A Feast for Crows' being late, and will try to do better with the next book.http://www.dragonpage.com/2006/07/03/...
Finished The First Law Trilogy at the beginning of this month. All three books are excellent audible listens. Got through Good Omens on audible. Re-read The Name of the Wind. Still couldn't put it down on my second read. Slowly but surely working my way through The Wheel of Time series. Currently on Winter's Heart.
Sean wrote: "Tom wrote: "I'm still on The Dark Tower trek, book IV Wizard and Glass but I'm told before going to book V I should veer off and read The Stand and a few other side-univer..."Thanks Sean! This is good information. I started the Dark Tower series and was a little confused. I hadn't read any other King before.
I think I'll start Salem's Lot and then move on to the Dark Tower series again...and then read the other books before reading past Book IV.
yikes.
I'm about 25 pages into Riddley Walker, which is not easy to read! (Any suggestions?) I'm also reading The Sable Quean for another book club, and just downloaded Gryphon: New and Selected Stories by Charles Baxter from my new library-based Overdrive account (they recently updated the iPad app so you don't have to download anything to a computer, woohoo!). I recently finished listening to The Big Sleep and reading Eating Animals. I'm still slowly slogging through The Danger of Music and Other Anti-Utopian Essays as well as The Organization of Information: Third Edition.
I just plowed through GRRM's A Game of Thrones , A Clash of Kings and I am now onto book three, A Storm of Swords (all in a 3 week span). Great continuity from book one onto two with no let up in both story, plot(s) and fighting. It would appear I have favored both Jon and Arya stories and wish at times there were more of them.I have also downloaded both The Name of The Wind and The Blade Itself for future reading.
I'm on to reading The Hunger Games. 9% in so far. Not sure what to think yet.I like how well the author has painted a picture of a post apocalyptic world where technology is possessed only by the elite few. I realize that Panem is a microcosm of the world as it is NOW. Not sure if that was intentional...
Michael wrote: "Erm...it doesn't matter if you're ready as GRRM..."Ya, it is just he way he finished it that bothered me more then anything. Just seemed like that day he decided to end it abruptly. No wrap up, nothing. Just "bye, cya when I cya" Oh well....
Tom wrote: "I'm still on The Dark Tower trek, book IV Wizard and Glass but I'm told before going to book V I should veer off and read The Stand and a few other side-universe books."I know this is an old thread, but theres some news today. A new Dark Tower book will be published next year, taking place between Wizard and Glass and Wolves of the Calla. Probably shouldn't be read till after the 7 main books. I'd guess its not intended to be read in its proper place. It will be called The Wind Through The Keyhole.

It starts with The Dreaming Void You may want to check out the forums at The Unisphere which is a Peter F. Hamilton fansite for much more on these books.

Not yet. I plan too though. The Commonwealth books were so good. I am most definitely read the The Dreaming Void at some point. Thanks for the heads up on the forums too.

I'm a little more than half way through The Dreaming Void. I found it really hard to get into (unlike Pandora's Star). After chapter 3 things started to make a little more sense. The more I read the more I like it - I'm still not in love with it yet.
