Yes, it happened in the desert. That's why his son was constantly reborn there, it's the place of their rebirth. Also, this is why it takes him some time to get back to Mac every time he dies. He's reborn & then has to travel back to her.

LOL Ah, yes. One of my favorite Barrons/Mac convos relates to that. It's when they're speaking but not really & she tells him, I did not sleep with Darroc. When will you let that go? And, he responds: I'll forgive you for f*cking Darroc when you f*ck me.
Ahhhh, delicious alpha male.
ha! so right, I loved those conversations, he was sooo possessive..and childish at times, it really annoyed him when he couldn't help himself lol
I thought their rebirth was the place of their first "death." Not necessarily all of them are reborn in the desert. They were not aware of where his son died, that's why the son became unstable, they did not find him until after he was tortured and killed numerous times. But I am re-reading to remind myself.
<--- hangs head low, I was wrong, everyone else was right. The 9 (10 inc. son) were not born immortals. And they are all reborn in the same place in the desert. No disrespect intended by dbl checking. It was fun to go back through and skim Shadowfever again. I did pick up a couple other things. Does anyone else think Rhymer (another human that drank the elixir to live longer) is the same person as Dancer? Dani's BF? Just a thought, since Dancer is a poet and so is Rhymer. KMM must have mentioned the 2 for a reason.

GOD I LOVED THAT!

What did you guys think..."Ruby, I agree. Let me preface by saying I'm a die hard KMM fan. Love, love, love her writing. Having said that, ShadowFever's ending seemed like she dragged together everything you'd read or experienced in the book to tie off all the loose ends. I know, from reading her blog she worked a long time on this final book, but it didn't come across that way to me. There were too many convenient conclusions to some characters. And we hadn't been left any breadcrumbs to give even a hint of how it would end. When certain characters were revealed, you were left with 'Where did that come from?'
This is probably just me, and other readers will feel like she'd captured everything they thought or wanted, and I'm okay with that. I just felt a bit cheated.
This won't stop me from reading anything further that Ms Moning releases, but I had to have my say, for this book.
I wish the seelie queen woke up so we could meet her I mean any girl that can get the sexy love of my life UNSEELIE KING to go mad for her must be amazing too bad we may never figure out. :C
i think it would be interesting after reading shadowfever to go back and read the previous books to see if she maybe did drop some clues that we didn't pick up on
I usually reread the entire series after the new book. New book, entire series, e4nd with reread of new book.
The Highlander series, especially the last 2 books, The Immortal Highlander The Immortal Highlander and Spell of the Highlander Spell of the Highlanderand the short in Tapestry did leave some hints. Especially Tapestry - "Into the Dreaming" antho. You find out what happened to the real Seelie Queen. And in Tapestry

I just finished reading this series a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I'll be interested to see if there are any spin off novels. Now I need to read the Highlander series.

I feel the same way......I would love a Prequal book about Jericho and his guys!
http://www.slashfilm.com/dreamworks-h... YAY but at one point in time they say this "which sounds like a mix of Pan’s Labyrinth, Lord of the Rings and Twilight. Read more about it after the jump."
Which scares the hell out of me. I do not see how the fever series is a mix of any or all of those and it kind of is an insult.
I have read a lot of books! But this one was really good.. I actually heard about on this sight.. Barrons is my kind of man!! I just wish it wasn't over!
I haven't been this moved by a series since "Twilight". I loved every page turner. These books made me sit up and pay attention. When I wasn't reading them I couldn't stop thinking about the characters. I was always trying to figure things out, and then I would read the next couple chapters and would be back at square one. I was glad the author had the good sense to end it, I like the closure. I really like that Barrons wasn't your typical guy, all swoon and cheese. I like how he worked and I liked how the author slowly opened him up to us I liked understanding him, I fell for him hard in the end. GREAT SERIES! I am still numb, from reading the last chapter of last book, so much to think about so many good feelings.
This is has got to be the most politically incorrect series I’ve read! Most of the characters are not even really likeable, but it is SO much fun! This series is my guilty pleasure! What can I say? These books are addicting and thoroughly enjoyable in the way that the Twilight series for was me.
That being said,( I just discovered this discussion now and read the series last winter), I agree with what some of you are saying about the 5th book being rushed. There was so much information and I felt it did not all come together in the end. I also feel KMM could have explained more about what Barrons really was. It seems like she had not really thought it out herself. Nevertheless, I still plan to read her next books set in that world.
Just wondering..... am I the only one curious about how this series was received in Ireland????
Just finished the series this week. One thing is bugging me - how come they didn't think of using the cauldron of forgetting to cure Barron's kid?

Also, he wasn't Fey and the cauldron may not work on what ever species they are.
Good feedback ladies. I don't think this series is over. If I remember correctly Ms. Moning mentioned two more books after she finished Dani's story. Heads up! :)
I absolutely loved all these books! I couldn't put them down and read them super fast! I loved this last book and was so happy Mac and Barrons FINALLY got together! Took them long enough! I was happy with this final book and look upon the Fever series as one of the best series I've read in the para-romance genre and in any genre really! I found them extremely well crafted and the drawn out romance was awesome too! I liked the Fae aspects very much and all the different characters. I loved them from start to finish!
This post is way late, but my issues with this book were I never warmed to Dani and a few other things as well. I skimmed the Dani sections because I found her so flat and annoying. And I'm sorry the next set of books featuring these characters will be from Dani's illiterate POV. I never could figure out why Dani's diction was so divergent from the rest of the Sidhe Seers who raised her. My other problem was too many loose ends for a five book series. Never figured out who the mother was to Barron's son, or how he ended up part beast, part man. I suppose the reader never found out because the author doesn't know either. Those things happen. Overall, I enjoyed the series. They were a quick read. Mac's character changes which is understandable since this is a coming-of-age story for her. But Barron's character changes, too. I've read that Moning thinks he's a sociopath. I beg to differ. It takes more than someone who can kill and walk away to make one of those. He's downright maudlin towards the end in terms of his feelings for Mac. Sociopaths don't develop connections to other people like that.So those are my nitpicks.
