Michelle (shadowrose) Well I did finish The Aviary by Kathleen O'Dell and I posted my review here: http://inlibrisveritas.wordpress.com/...

I've since started (or restarted): Les Misérables by Victor Hugo - Which I started for another group and is going to take me a while. The Tigress of Forli Renaissance Italy's Most Courageous and Notorious Countess, Caterina Riario Sforza de Medici by Elizabeth Lev - An ARC that I've restarted lately, it's very good so far. Artemis Rising by Cheri Lasota - Which I received from Librarything, and it's really interesting too.

Ooh, I've been considering putting Les Mis on my to read list - not seen the play or anything like that but I thought it might be an interesting-ish read. Would you recommend it?

message 905: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) I haven't seen the play either but my boyfriend is always singing the songs, lol. At the moment I can't really say, I've only made it about 30 pages in. It's slow going so far, but I still like it. I do recommend getting a good translation of it though, I have one of the harder to read ones. I believe the Signet paperback version is the one that most people read.

Oh - is he a good singer? I'll look out for that version then, maybe next time I actually need a new book to read (have a few already lined up). Thanks for the advice!

No problem. Um sometimes he is, lol. Depends on the range, he has a deep voice so as soon as he goes for high notes he sounds funny, hehe.
Oh another warning it tends to ramble a lot. it is relevant to the story though. I personally enjoy the details but I know others don't.

John Rhodes (John_D_Rhodes) | 11 comments I've just finished a book on 'The Stig' by 'The Stig' and apart from some quite interesting bit and the fact the chap who was 'The Stig' shares my birthday it did seem to go on a little too much about car performance this and car peformance that.. I khow I know it's that type of thing but I was a l little disappointed, I wanted more background stuff... anyway I am currently reading two books, just started Bill Bryson's 'Home' - all about the history/background behind all the things we take for granted at.. well home!

THANK YOU!! My BFF and I totally disagreed over this book. I *loathed* it - she *loved* it. Granted, the writing is very good and I did like the specific wintry descriptions, but I really disliked all the characters. I had no one to root for, and just gritted my teeth to finish. SO GLAD I am not alone on this! :-)

message 925: by Lori (new)

Lori Baldi I loved When The Bough Breaks (Alex Delaware, #1) by Jonathan Kellerman . It's been a long time since I read it but I did enjoy it and it was the first of J Kellerman's books that I read. I haven't kept up with his most recent books, though, but my aunt is a huge fan of all of his work as well as his wife's.

I'm also interested in Jill Mansell's books. I've just recently heard of her and I'm wondering what everyone thinks of her books. Cammie mentioned that she just started one of her books.

I'm reading a lighter book right now, Veil of Night by Linda Howard & it's pretty good. I've read much better by Linda Howard but I'm very rarely disappointed in her work.

Annis (New Dimensions Reviews) | 4 comments Sandra wrote: "I am currently reading The Magicians. Ok, how do I get fancy and put the book cover here?"

You just have to click on add book/author in the upper right corner of the comment box. It'll ask you if you want to have a link or a cover, and you'll have to enter the name of the novel (or the author's name), click on "add" and voila, your comment has a cover!

I'm currently reading:

Seers by Heather Frost Air (Gollancz SF) by Geoff Ryman Spin by Robert Charles Wilson Betrayal (The Descendants #1) by Mayandree Michel

Almost done with Spin, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jenny (jennyc89) I'm currently reading The Three Musketeers and Wuthering Heights. I'm not sure I'm going to manage reading two classics at the same time that both have challenging language. I just picked up Leviathan Wakes a the library and didn't realize it's only a 14 day rental. I'm considering dropping Wuthering Heights for now and starting Leviathan Wakes instead, but I haven't decided yet.

Karen K. Miller (karenkm) | 16 comments I'm reading 2 books. The one I keep at home is Away by Amy Bloom. At first I thought I was going to be bored with it. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and it is starting to get interesting.
The other book I keep in my purse and read from it whenever I'm not home and am waiting for someone or something. This book is Caressed By Ice by Nalini Singh. This is the third in her Psy/Changeling series. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series so far.
