Hi Alexa,
I am open to all inspirations... Right now I am finishing a novel inspired by Bronislava Nijinska, Vaslav Nijinsky's sister--both fabulous dancers and choreographers who grew up in St. Petersburg. Later Romanovs figure quite a bit in this novel, for their fate is being decided right then. But this time it is the Imperial dancers who captivated me....(less)

Hi Sara,
Are you concerned with choosing which historical events to write about? Once you understand your characters, you will know what is likely to impact or interest them. It really all depends on the overall goal of your novel. The Anatomy of Story: 22 Steps to Becoming a Master Storyteller by John Truby is a wonderful resource.
Good luck..

Reading during the pandemic

I grew up in Poland, in the rather grim 1950s and 60s, and books were the most reliable means of escape from the reality of the post war years. I think about this time often, now, when we are locked and limited in where we can go.
