Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh vivian you are really in a rut! Do you think you will come back to any of those books? I liked Midnight Run and Masques, but they both took me awhile to get into them.

I am reading Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine and really really enjoying it! I have had this book since March 2010, lol -- I can't believe I waited that long. I am listening to the audio of Wild Magic (Immortals, #1) by Tamora Pierce

I am also reading to my son Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling I forgot how absolutely brilliant the early books are. I keep reading even after he is beyong exhausted.

message 1761: by Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (last edited Sep 09, 2011 06:47PM) (new)

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Just finished Virtual Reality by Joey W. Hill . Amazing book! Plenty of explicitness, but a wonderfully touching (and sometimes tearful) story.

Next is Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews for Bingo. Then Chaos Forged by Kaitlyn O'Connor and Dead Alert (Guardians of the Dark, #5) by Bianca D'Arc .

After that - lots and lots of smut.......mostly BDSM. What can I say, guess my friends I trade books with are just as twisted as I am! And yes, some of those books come in series too!!!

message 1762: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Just started on Afterlight (Dark Ink Chronicles #1) by Elle Jasper .

How are you liking this one? I finished yesterday and loved it... The series keeps getting better as it goes. I was almost afraid she was wrapping up the series, but there is a 4th mentioned on her website: Nightwalker Pub date TBA, pheww!

Also finished listening to Claimed By Shadow (Cassandra Palmer, #2) by Karen Chance and thinking of starting Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance but might wait for our shelf announcement.

message 1765: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Still reading it Lis, RL keeps getting in the way unfortunately. Glad to know there's another one in the works.

I read Claimed by Shadow just before starting Shadow walker and loved it!

message 1766: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 18 comments I'm in a bit of a reading slump :0( I have just finished the Madison Avery series on audio, and have started to read Seers by Heather Frost and Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance but can't get into either of them.

I also started listening to Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend by Jenny Colgan to try a different genre, but still can't be bothered with that either!

Maybe it's time to watch some Buffy and have a book break for a day or two.....

message 1767: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Buffy is always good, especially the singing episode!

message 1768: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Thinking of Buffy... If you had to visualize Pritkin from the Cassie Palmer's series do you ever think of Spike?

message 1769: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 18 comments @ Sandra, I looove Buffy, but must say the singing episode makes me cringe! I've just finished the first season (for about the millionth time) so am ready to watch the second season. I hate it when Angel goes bad though, it makes me sad for Buffy :0(

@Lis, I didn't, but I probably will now you said that! I had a Buffy box set signed by James Marsters who plays Spike, he has the most amazing eyes ever. *sigh*

message 1771: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

message 1772: by Lis (last edited Sep 10, 2011 06:02PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I just happened to read a blurb on him today... and thought Spike!
"shock of pale hair""a square jaw""a slightly overlarge nose"
just not sure if his eyes are green?

message 1773: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) Just finished Sinful Magic (Wing Slayer Hunters, #4) by Jennifer Lyon which was really good.

Now reading Shadowflame (Shadow World, #2) by Dianne Sylvan One Salt Sea (October Daye #5) by Seanan McGuire The Hour of Dust and Ashes (Charlie Madigan #3) by Kelly Gay

I really liked that one, I cannot wait to read part two. What did you think?

message 1775: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I love the cover of Afterlight.

I just finished the Kushiel short in Songs of Love and Death All-Original Tales of Star-Crossed Love by George R.R. Martin I realy enjoyed it. I plan to read the Diana Gabaldon short in it.

I also just finished the Downside short by Stacia Kane and the Patricia Briggs short in Home Improvement Undead Edition by Charlaine Harris I am not going to read the Sookie short in it, just not interested.

Right now I am trying to figure out what book to start for the Bingo game - -fantasy supernatural shelf.

message 1776: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Dawn wrote: I really liked that one, I cannot wait to read part two. What did you think?"

I'm about halfway through and I'm really enjoying it so far. I was a bit worried as I read a few not so glowing reviews about it, but I like it. If only she wouldn't describe every single outfit she's wearing in detail, lol.

@Regina: I have to admit the cover was what drew me to it in the first place. It's quite a pity I have the Kindle version and not a lovely PB that I can stare at :)

Its a really good glimpse into the past and new direcion & possibilities we can expect in Book 8... There are additional teasers on her website for book 8 if you haven't found them yet. I wish we didn't have to wait 3 years for each book.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Still Reading: The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross

Started: Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant

Somebody please explain to me why, when I don't have much time to read as it is with the fall semester in session, that I've decided to start a bunch of 400+ page books?

message 1779: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Lis me too! Although it comes in 2012 right? Eek!!! We aré almost there. I actually havent finished echo but I have read the spoilers on her website.

message 1780: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Kerstin wrote: "If only she wouldn't describe every single outfit she's wearing in detail, lol."

That was one of the parts I could've done without too, lol.

So I finally finished Masques (Sianim, #1 - Aralorn, #1) by Patricia Briggs last week, which I liked enough to continue with the series. It's no Mercy, but not much is ;)

Also read Shift (Shifters, #5) by Rachel Vincent . I'm torn, because I want to love it, but I think I was more interested in the outcome then reading the actual story. I admit to skimming a little to get to the end.

Listening to The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness . About halfway finished, really enjoying this so far.

Lis | 4037 comments Regina wrote: "Lis me too! Although it comes in 2012 right? Eek!!! We aré almost there. I actually havent finished echo but I have read the spoilers on her website."

Cheater!! The last quarter of ECHO is crazy but so good! Have you read any of the Lord John series? I haven't been able to get into it, but it seems there are parts that would help with ECHO, so I'm going to try it again.

message 1782: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I'm reading Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane , seriously cannot put it down! I'm about two-thirds of the way through already. It kind of reminds me of the TV series Heroes, I loved that show as well :)

message 1783: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Josie, Mind Games is high on my TBR mountain and I'm really looking forward to it now. Loved Heroes as well, at least the first season.

I'm currently on Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini Singh which I love and Everdark (Dark Ink Chronicles #2) by Elle Jasper .

message 1784: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Finished Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini Singh yesterday and loved it, 5 stars.

Just trying to decide which book to read next, possibly Lord of the Desert (Immortal Sheiks, #1)(Harlequin Nocturne, #93) by Nina Bruhns as I really do need to get a move on for the Baseball challenge.

Sandra | 25908 comments Lord of the Desert (Immortal Sheiks, #1)(Harlequin Nocturne, #93) by Nina Bruhns was surprisingly good, for a Nocturne. Lots of Egyptology :D

message 1787: by Lis (last edited Sep 15, 2011 06:10PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Finished Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne and plan to continue with the series. Started Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane which is really fun so far.

Talked my book buddy at work into the Fever series so I have been re-listening to Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning and Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning which I also have in Audio, and I really really love this series. I am so going to miss Mac and Barrons, can't wait for future glimpses in her recent book announcements. Since I am feeling all sentimental on good series, I'm going to re-listen to Singh's Archangel series again before reading ARCHANGEL's BLADE. (DO NOT like that cover)

message 1788: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments No one likes that cover, but I did like the book :D

Started the middle of the trilogy, Shadow of the Sheikh (Immortal Sheikhs, #2)(Harlequin Nocturne, #100) by Nina Bruhns for fantasy baseball challenge. All about shifters & a vampire in the Egyptian desert.

message 1789: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Finished those Immortal Sheikhs yesterday and now I'm reading Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward for Bingo, though I didn't realise it was well over 600 pages. Just knew it was hefty. LOL.

message 1790: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments @Sandra, I loved Lover Avenged. I wasn't Rehvenges's greatest fan before this book, but after reading it he is now pretty high up on the list of my favourite brothers ;)

I'm still on Everdark (Dark Ink Chronicles #2) by Elle Jasper , it's not really pulling me in and also just started on Stormwalker (Stormwalker, #1) by Allyson James

message 1791: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Struggling with Blood Bound (Unbound, #1) by Rachel Vincent . I'm stuck @ 30%. The same situation with How To Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran but for a different reason. Some journalists shouldn't write books. Their writing style can become tedious after a while.

I reserved 11 books at the library the other day and now 8 of them have come in at once! I was gobsmacked because there were 28 people ahead of me in the queue for Virals and they only have a handful of copies.

Cheater!! The last quarter ..."

Lis I haven't, I have checked out his books but returend them -- both audio and print. Not sure what is holding me back. I have heard they are great. I didn't purposely cheat! Spoilers were everywhere about Echo and so I was dying to know, so I read the spoilers only that pertained to the two really pressing cliff hangers. :) I feel the need to get back into that series. When Bingo is done I likely will.

Ames, I hope you are able to find something to keep you interested. I hate feeling not interestedin reading but obligated to keep going. I have had that happen at the library -- so much pressure! Do you think you will get to them all?

I agree about Rev, he wasn't my favorite and still isn't but I really liked that book.

@Lis -- now you get to relive Fever again! I love getting local friends hooked into that series. I think it may be time for my re-read by audio of Shadowfever.

To all you reading the Disillusionist series -- yay! I absolutely love that series.

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments So I am reading Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee Reviving Ophelia Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls by Mary Bray Pipher and listening to Alanna The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce

Josie | 1967 comments LethalLovely~Don't Underestimate The Things That I wrote: "Currently Reading: Mortal Danger (World of the Lupi, #2) by Eileen WilksHeart's Blood (Whistling Tor, #1) by Juliet Marillier"

I'll be reading 'Heart's Blood' soon, I hope you enjoy it - Beauty and the Beast was always my fave Disney :)
Have you read any other Juliet Marillier books? I've only read Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier , loved it but haven't had time to read the second one yet.

@Regina: I loved Angelfall! Hope you do too :)

Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning arrived today so I'm finally going to read it (I will be also going into it without any idea of what's going to happen etc after avoiding any chat/conversation/threads/reviews relating to the books - go me!). First though, I'm doing a whole reread of the series since it's been such a long time - very excited!

But... I have to read Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness (looking forward to it) and City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare (not so much) before Fever.

I'm also currently reading Snakecharm (The Kiesha'ra, #2) by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes and A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin and enjoying both.

I hope I can. It looks like a good selection:

Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer Virals by Kathy Reichs Trial by Fire (Raised by Wolves, #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young

message 1798: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Hi, ladies. It's been a while!
It took me 2 days to catch up, there were like 5 pages of unread messages!
I still have a lot of updating to do though.

The last book I read these holidays was Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella , which was hilarious. Now I'm reading Blaze of Memory (Psy-Changeling, #7) by Nalini Singh and so far I found it a bit boring.

message 1799: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Ames I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Blood Red Road and Ultraviolet. All those covers are so pretty.

I am reading Heat Stroke (Weather Warden, #2) by Rachel Caine

I just finished Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee and absolutely LOVED it! I also just finished the audio of Alanna The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce

I am tryng to decide what to listen to next.

message 1800: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments @Lethal: Creepy? I didn't expect that but I'm most intrigued. Cool, I can't wait to read it :)

@CyberAlmu: Oh no! Boring? I hope it improves for you. I haven't got that far in the series yet, I've only read the first four. I'm most looking forward to Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling, #6) by Nalini Singh and Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh :)

@Regina: Glad you loved Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee , I thought it was brilliant as well! Can't wait until next year for the second one :D
