Of all the Fallen, Raze's hungers are some of the darkest and most insatiable. His brazen seductions cost him his wings, leaving him soulless and immortal, the most dangerous of seducers. He has roamed the earth for eons, hunting the rogues of his kind and protecting the humans who provide him with blood and sex. He is content with his life and the transient pleasures that

“The effort I expend will likely leave you hobbled in the morning,” he said harshly. “You have no idea what I need to get through tonight.”

The only good thing I can say for this book is that it was short! I'm not typically one to strongly dislike a book but for this I have to make an exception!
Fallen angels who lost their wings and souls for falling in love with a mortal. So they are turned into Vampires. And what the heck, why not throw in some rabid lycenthropes too?! Really? I feel like my hands just suffered from some kind of freaky finger diarrhea just from typing that!

This is technically book 0.5, but I'm glad I read it after book two because I feel like it made me enjoy it more than I would have otherwise.
Reading this before book one would have made it lose its punch - I would have been kind of lost as all the world building and character type explanation is done in book one.
So personally, I would recommend this be read after book one, if not book two.

Raze is one of the "Fallen," an angel fallen from grace, stripped of its wings and soul, leaving behing an immortal blood drinker who cannot procreate. He is the only one of the 200 "Fallen" who has never experienced the love of a human. He has insatiable appetites of another kind though, and feeds them nightly. Raze is a "hunter" and hunts and kills the outlaws of the vampire nation and their minions. He has done this for hundreds of years, but this job in Chicago has him feeling out of his el

There was nothing special about this book. It was so average and boring, that I was close to giving it 1 star. The good thing was, a) it is/was free, b) it is short.
The characters are characterised below
- Raze: a paranormal law enforcement agent. Big, strong, dangerous. Insatiable appetite. Used to one night stands (in fact, the novella begins with an one night stand which resulted in impaired senses that led to a dead body on his doorstep).
- Kim: is posh and high class, not wh ...more

Being drawn into a battle he was not prepared for yet, Raze went to Chicago to see just what the minions had in mind for him. Knowing it might be a trap, he called on the Angel (Adrian) that was tasked with keeping the Fallen (Vampires) alive to live with their punishment. Looking for a release and a distraction for the night, Kim McAdams hit on the handsome, stranger Raze. For some strange reason she felt more comfortable with him than she had with anyone in such a long time, if ever. Not being

I am still a bit confused to tell you the truth. This story is a short story & with all the characters that were introduced there was no background on them. It was hard to keep straight who was who & what they did. The romance part of the story was the only part that made sense. Although with the 3 main sexual encounters of the 2 main characters Raze & Kim the last encounter is the only one that was hot an steamy. The 1st two where skipped over & a tease to be honest. Which is a

It was a little confusing about the differences between the angels, watchers, fallen, etc. I had to keep flipping back to the glossary in the beginning to keep everything clear.

A Dark Kiss of Rapture? A Quick Bit of Bollock-All, more like - writing this review will probably take me longer than my reading did. How this has managed to get an average rating of 3.68 on Goodreads is beyond me - I can only imagine that there are an awful lot of significantly time challenged and very easily pleased people out there. This would appear to be a taster for Day's Renegade Angels series, but instead of building my appetite it's put me off entirely.

I read A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Day to see if I would like the Renegade Angels series. It is a very short read and since it was free on Amazon, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. The story is about the Fallen which are actually the fallen angels that have become vampires and I was compelled to read this just for that fact! Raze is part of the Fallen, a soulless immortal and other than hunting rogues he spends his time finding pleasure with women to curb his desires. No woman has ever mea

This was free on Kindle and after reading BARED TO YOU I wanted to read another tale by Sylvia Day to see more of her writing style. I had to work really hard to finish this one.
I can't even provide much of a summary, as I feel the story was all over the place. What I can tell you, is that I really looked forward to the scenes with Raze and Kim, and dreaded portions of the book that had more to do with the "plot." I felt there wasn't enough backstory or direction.
Perhaps reading the rest of the Renegade Angels series would help to clarify some of my confusion, but I doubt I could after this less than promising introduction. ...more

A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Davis is a pleasant read. It follows the basic good versus evil you find in many tales. This story has a different slant. Raze, at one time was an angel. During the early human civilization, some of the angels mated with humans. They were punished with their wings and souls being removed and they were the original vampires and they became known as the fallen. They destroy the minions of the vampires and the fallen who feel that humans don't deserve this world. Th

The love story portion of the novel was cute , but too short to really get into it. The real plot would have been ok, but we were just thrown into the middle of a world that seemed pretty complex, however the actual world-building was non-existent (we are given a glossary with terms to help us figure out what is what and who is who, but it's too much information for such a short novella!...)... Meet Raze, not exactly your everyday run of the mill guy. Out for the night; needing; wanting and desiring, in a bar when she sits down next to him. Who is she, she’s not his type, out of his league and oh yea, he’salready made plans to “do” the bartender. Conversation with this woman starts up, his mind still reeling. Confidence spools from her, she’s out to get the same thing he is, he’s perfect she thinks. Raze learns her name is Kim. They make arrangements to meet back at his hotel in an hou

This is a great little prequel to Sylvia Day's Renegade Angel series. I actually read this one after A Touch of Crimson and was able to enjoy it quite a bit.

Often, when one of the Fallen tries to turn a human, he meets less than ideal results. Raze must make sure the minions aren't doing too much damage to humanity or acting in a way th ...more

Okay...I love this short novella by Sylvia Day but I'm a little ticked off that it seems that she's just given up on finishing this series. I know this book came out in 2011 and I'm just now getting around to reading it (it's been on my Kindle forever) but now that I'm finished...and went to get the next book...it's not even out yet and there's no mention of when it will be out. Not cool! Don't start a series you're not going to finish! Now to my review...I really enjoyed Raze and Kim's story. B

The story takes place right before the start of the first book A Touch of Crimson. I had gotten this as a Kindle freebie a long time ago. Of course I didn't know that this was the prequel of the Renegade Angels series. I read an ARC of book one last year and I when I started reading my ARC of book two I realized that this was the prequel and had been sitting on my Kindle app patiently waiting to be read.

WOW! I loved this book from beginning to end. It sparked a whole new interest in this series for me and now I can't wait to get the rest of the books and read them as well.
Raze is your typical vampire. He prefers to get his blood and sex from the willing and then relax on his own. He's married to his work and wouldn't have it any other way. His friends are those who work with him. Even though they are all connected because they are the Fallen, they each have their own way of getting along with t ...more

A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Day
Renegade Angels Novella Book .5 (Prologue)
These books are about fallen angels, not only do they lose their wings but they are cursed to be vampires as well. Raze is one of them. He had never experienced falling in love and he is one of the biggest womanizers. It is all meaningless to him. Just a way of getting what his body needs; sex and blood. Until he goes to Chicago on a mission and meets Kim.
Kim sees Raze walk into the bar and feels drawn to him. With a f ...more

Not bad. This novella would come before the first book of Sylvia Day's Renegade Angels series. We're supposed to follow up on Raze and Kim's story in
, another novella. However, I'm seeing now it's not yet available.
The beginning is a bit chaotic as we're introduced to a bunch of characters which I imagine will be featured in subsequent novels in this series. The term "lush tits and/or ass" is thrown around a couple of times, which I honestly could have done without. (Don't care for crude dialo ...more

Prequel to Sylvia Day's new Renegade Angels series. Sentinels are angels who are on Earth to watch over the Fallen, fallen angels turned vampires as punishment for falling in the first place, who in turn police over those mortals who have been turned. Raze, a Fallen, heads on over to Chicago to clean up a mess some turned mortal vampires have caused. Here he meets Kim and so the love fest begins.

I wanted to read something vampirish and ange'ly, and came across this. I figured that if I love it, I can buy the whole set of books and read them. I was expecting it to be full of excitement and action as well, but I swear that I was reading porn. This book was a bit too short and the characters were well under-developed. I was really hoping to like it. Some of the names thrown I would have to go back to see who? what they were and why?. I wish that the characters would be a little more develo

This is a free prequel to Sylvia Day's Renegade Angels series. I really liked A Touch of Crimson, the first book in this series and was thrilled when I found out this novella had been released. While A Touch of Crimson tells the story of one of the angels, this novella tells the story of one of the vampire Fallen. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and fell hard for Raze, the only Fallen to lose his wings and never know love. Kim is a great match for him and I want to know how their story unfolds

A Dark Kiss of Rapture is a compelling story that may be short, but knows how to pack a punch. You can’t help but be intrigued by the Fallen while wondering how this will all turn out in the grand scheme of things. The sex scenes are sensual and the action is fast-paced. The characters are flawed, yet lovable with secrets that will either bring them closer together or destroy them both. Only time will tell what will happen as this saga continues. Bravo Ms. Day for writing an enticing prequel tha
