Oh no! I'm sorry Bethany! That totally sucks! But the series is amazing anyway!

Jen, yay! I'm glad you're reading it! It is seriously good!

message 102: by Angie (new)

Angie (angiebayne) I just started

XVI. So far it is ok. The writing isn't the best (dialogue is a little stilted), but the story is interesting. Anyone else read it?

message 103: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 03, 2011 03:23PM) (new)

I haven't! I've been wanting to though! You'll have to let me know how it is!

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Ok - finished Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie - good, not as good as I was hoping it would be, but not bad.

Have started Bruiser by Neal Shusterman

message 105: by Emma (new)

Emma Okay guys, I need your input. I just started Delirium last night, I'm only on chapter three but I feel like the story is being told by a 12 or 13 year old not a 17 year old. Did anyone else feel this way? Something about the way she writes just seems very young, and not in a good way. Is it worth reading because I do like the story line and does that ever stop??

I guess the characters are all kind of naive/inexperienced because that's the way they've been moulded. Perhaps you'll find she develops some backbone as the story goes along? I think it's definitely worth a read.

message 107: by [deleted user] (new)

Very very worth reading! I really liked that one! I hope it gets better for you!

message 108: by Emma (new)

Emma That would be nice lol. I'm going to keep reading but as of yet I'm not impressed.

message 109: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Just finished Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer & The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher . Both were very very good. Obviously Water wars is a little more suited to this group, but if you like fantasy too then check out Nightshade. I finished these books in two days...I couldn't put them down.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked Nightshade too! I haven't read The Water Wars, but I've been curious about it! I think I'm gonna have to start it soon!

message 111: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just finished Beastly last night.

I'm trying to decide what to read next.

message 112: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments I just finished

Impossible by Nancy Werlin

and have started the follow-up

Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin

message 113: by [deleted user] (new)

Amanda, I read Beastly a couple weeks ago! I thought it was pretty good. I'll admit that I only read it just to see the movie. But after reading it and then re-watching the movie previews, the movie just looks like it's not going to be anything like the book and that really bugs me. I haven't seen it yet haha. Hope you find another book to read soon!

Jen, did you like Impossible? With Nancy Werlin, I always found myself loving the way she writes, but not loving her stories. What about you?

I saw the movie the day it came out! There are some differences from book to movie but I thought it was really good. It's not like twilight were there are many differences from the book. It still keeps pretty loyal to the book. Plus is has Alex in it!!

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

That is very true haha. I'm thinking I'll see it only for that reason lol. Sigh...he's so hot!

Yeah, I actually read it in prep for the movie as well. I can already see some of the differences just in how he turns into a beast. I will admit that it was a quick and easy read. I liked it and that is saying something since it is a retelling of fairy tales and I usually don't like those.

I am hoping to see the movie soon.

message 117: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments I just started reading Dark Life by Kat Falls. Has anyone read it yet?

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't heard of it. Is it good so far?

message 119: by Laura (new)

Laura | 59 comments I'm one chapter in, so can't tell you as yet! I think what's going on is that the ice caps melted and there isn't much land left anywhere. So people either live Above, in high rises, or in the ocean. The narrator was the first kid to be born undersea. Intriguing . . .

I thought water wars was good in the beginning but in some places it just really fell flat for me. All in all an enjoyable read but needed a little more substain.

Oh! JK! I have heard of that one! I've been really curious about it! And from your description of the first chapter, I think I want to check it out! It's just not available for the Nook at the moment...which bothers me more than you know...

Amy, I'm a serial read-reviews-of-a-book-before-actually-reading-the-book type of person and a lot of them have said exactly what you mentioned about The Water Wars, which is why I'm really iffy about reading it. I really want to try it because of its synopsis (because it sounds really good), but it's not very high on my TBR list.

I am the same way but I thought I would give it a chance. Must be an Amy Thing!! LOL

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha must be! :)

message 124: by Sara (last edited Mar 08, 2011 10:28AM) (new)

Sara (meatball77) I got Dark Life through vine last year. It's one I recommend to 12 year old boys. It's a good book, but it's a children's book, not a YA book that transitions into the adult genre.

I just got Afterlife

message 125: by [deleted user] (new)

So Afterlife and The Hunt of the Unicorn both come out today, and I don't know which one I should read first! I've been immersed in the Evernight series since it started, but I was a bit disappointed with Hourglass. I think I'm leaning towards the unicorn book haha. I'll read Afterlife later this week. Let me know how it is Sara!

message 127: by Sara (new)

Sara (meatball77) I'm reading The Devil's Kiss (Billi SanGreal, #1) by Sarwat Chadda I haven't gotten into it yet.

message 128: by [deleted user] (new)

That series is pretty good! But I liked the second more than the first.

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

I just started Across the Universe. =)

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

That book is seriously so good!

message 131: by ♔ Shayna (new)

♔ Shayna | 11 comments Just started Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth

It's really good so far. It's my first First Reads, so I'm probably already biased though. hah. So far I can tell you to watch out for it in May.

message 132: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahhhh! You're so lucky! That one sounds soooo good! :)

message 133: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Just finished The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa ...very good book. Now i'm working my way through The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa . Love this series!

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

That series is amazing! Just wait till you get to The Iron Queen! It's so good! I can't wait till the fourth one, The Iron Knight!

I'm so glad you're liking that series!

message 135: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just started The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I have heard a lot of good things about it so I hope it doesn't disappoint.

message 136: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 10, 2011 09:21AM) (new)

The Forest of Hands and Teeth is good, but weird. The MC is really hard to relate to and sometimes really annoying. But the world building is amazing. No matter what you think of this book, you definitely need to read the sequel The Dead-Tossed Waves. I thought it was way better than the first. Also, the third book in that series, The Dark and Hollow Places comes out on the 22nd! So excited!

message 137: by Amanda (last edited Mar 11, 2011 07:46AM) (new)

Amanda (amonika) Amy, I completely agree. I finished it last night. I'm reading books at a crazy speed right now. Mary was just hard to relate too. I thought I would understand her and then she would change course. It was hard to follow at some points. The story was good though. I'm going to read the second one but I hope the MC is more tolerable than Mary(I guess that is a good word for it). She just seemed all over the place in that book. I will start the 2nd one tonight.

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay! The second one is waaaay better!

I liked Impossible more than Extraordinary, but I'm with you - her writing style is great, but the story is lacking. Impossible reminded me of an old fashioned fairy tale. It was a lot better than Extraordinary though!

message 140: by Jen (last edited Mar 11, 2011 01:30PM) (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments I'm now reading Blackout (All Clear, #1) by Connie Willis

It's pretty interesting. How cool would it be to have "time traveler" as your job?

message 141: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds really good! It's been added to my wish list :)

message 142: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Ok - Blackout (All Clear, #1) by Connie Willis was really good, but ended on a cliff hanger! guess I'll now have to get All Clear (All Clear, #2) by Connie Willis to see how it ends!

message 143: by [deleted user] (new)

Curse you cliffhangers!!

message 144: by Bethany (new)

Bethany WOO HOO...Just grabbed Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead from the library...yay! I can't wait to get to the end of this series...I love it. I am also gonna start House of Night...just got the first book...so we'll see.

message 145: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Amy wrote: "Curse you cliffhangers!!"

I know! :) But, it was a really interesting, captivating story, so I really want to know what happens next!

message 146: by [deleted user] (new)

Bethany, only two more after that one! Yay! I think I tried the first House of Night like a year-ish ago. I read about 10 pages before I gave up and returned it lol. I hope you like it more!

Jen, is the second one living up to your expectations? Jeez, I might have to read those books now!

message 147: by Amanda (last edited Mar 14, 2011 08:20AM) (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just finished The Dead-Tossed Waves (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #2) by Carrie Ryan . I really like the way she creates the world and builds it up. I struggle with forming a connection to the main character. This main character was almost the exact opposite of the one in The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan . I'm not sure if I'm going to read the 3rd one or not. Do you think it focuses on Gabry or a new character all together (like Annah)?

message 148: by [deleted user] (new)

It's about Gabry's sister. Yay! I'm excited! Only one more week!

message 149: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Hunt I'm currently reading the original steam punk novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne .

message 150: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I just picked up Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead ...Yay, I've finally reached the end and I can't wait to see what happens. I'm also reading Betrayed (House of Night, #2) by P.C. Cast ...I really like this series too. Not as much as VA, but it is definitely entertaining.
