What are new-in-2011 books are you looking forward to reading?
The last I heard, the script has been through a lot of changes. I remember reading somewhere that they fiddled with the premise to make the narrator more of a protagonist and gave him a family he was escaping with or something, but I can't quickly find the link, so take that with a grain of salt. ETA: Oh, and I think Brad Pitt could play Todd Wainio, but I believe he's going to be the fleshed out narrator? Think I read that somewhere? What baffles me is who Milo Ventimiglia will be playing.

Incidentally, if you have the opportunity to listen to the audio adaptation, you should. It's got a ridiculously awesome cast, though they had to cut some parts.

How was the rest of the book for typos?
There are a few, but it's not horrible overall. I know what you mean; I've encountered my share of books where an apparent lack of copy editing have thrown me right out of the book. (I say "apparent" because I once came across a blog post that pointed out that authors are allowed to write "stet" and that mistakes will be left in even if they're clearly wrong.)Edited to clarify: I am fairly sure there are less than 5 such errors.
Embassytown by China Mieville for me! I can't wait. I LOVED 'The City & the City', I had a lot of fun reading 'Kraken' and 'Perdido Street Station is very high on my to-read list...But before that 'The Wise Man's Fear' will also fall into my hands!

If you hate me for The Wise Man's Fear, you're going to hate me for The Lost Gate. I think Orson Scott Card has lost his touch and has done nothing good since about 2005, when he stopped Tales of Alvin Maker, and Ender Series. Those two work are his best, all the other novel he has done is great. I have read a lot of work, but he has been on the bandwagon what is popular today, which for me does not work.
Kevin, the purpose of this thread is for people to say what they are excited about in 2011... Not for people to tell them why they shouldn't be excited about it. Please... Give it a break?

I did not say a thing about Th Wise Man's Fear, I mainly said what my opinion was on Orson Scott Card was, okay. So don't hate me for having The Wise Man's Fear as a side to start a conversation. Lastly, Kara is the one that brought up about The Wise Man's Fear and me. I am giving my point of view on a different book, don't hate me if I am not positive. Life is not always positive.

I'm saying the thread is called "What are new-in-2011 books are you looking forward to reading?", not "What are new-in-2011 books are you not looking forward to other people looking forward to reading?". I don't care who brought up WMF, this isn't about that in the least bit.

When you are on your "My Books" page, look near the bottom, and there will be a "sort" window with a scrollable checkbox, click on it and you can scroll up to "Pub. Date" among others.

Me too. I'm waiting for the series to be completed, so I can read them all together.

I am looking forward to the translation of the new John Ajvide Lundqvist book Harbour. Although I haven't really looked for the date it's available yet. I'll be searching about it soon.

I have the first two, but I've only read the first one so far. No, it wasn't as good as Erikson. Not by a long shot. I've heard that the second one is better, but I haven't tried it yet.
It's still fun to visit Malazan though, even if it's different. I'll get back to them eventually.
The next book in the Dresden Files, Ghost Story, is slotted for an April release and I'm definitely looking forward to that.

@Michael - I can't believe Butcher was so spoilery in his interview. I woulda been very annoyed with him if I'd heard that interview, since I'm only up to book 11. *glares at Kevin some more*

Not really a spoiler, if Jim Butcher said it in a interview from the New York Comic Con on youtube. If you look on Wikipedia, it even has a little more extend plot. I am not trying to give more than anything that has not been released out on the internet.

Well for me I remembered hearing something about it a while back, so I'm not upset about the spoiler, but I've only read up to White Night. So anything after that would a spoiler to me.

How could anyone after that not know the end, even if one has not read it. Changes is that big of a book in the series, it does not matter you have read it or not, it will get out somehow. You basic point is that you have not read Changes, that is the bridge and gap that you need. Changes is just one of those books in a series that has so many that connects the plot.

Well, for me, it hasn't gotten out until now - so, somehow, I've managed to avoid spoilers since now. Part of this is because I've avoided thread which specifically discussed Changes, and part of it is because other people have had the decency to not blurt out what happened.
Sort of like my coworkers who haven't finished Harry Potter yet, and don't know all of what happens, and I simply refrain from telling them what's happened. And they have managed to not be spoiled, yet.
Don't feel sorry for me - just be more considerate in the future, and mark your damn spoiler.

Well, of course I plan to read it eventually. It's not like I have the intention of reading book 13 without reading book 12. My point is that I've only read up through book 10, and am simply not up to that point yet.

I think World War Z would have been better suited as a mini series or tv show, but now that The Walking Dead has come out, I guess the best option would be as a movie. I can't think whose character Brad Pitt would play..
