Oh look what arrived in the mail! I hope to start reading this by the first of the year. The author will be in town for a speaking engagement around the middle of January and I hope to read this or be well into it by then.

I have just picked up Andrew Cooks's the True Story of Reilly Ace of Spies (apologies I am accessing this on a telephone app and can not see how to add the book link). Has anyone read it or gave any thoughts on the book? I have been rewatching the excellent tv series and wanted to find out a little more about this fascinating man.
I wanted to read the Lockhart book but it is not available on kindle.

Gentian, when you are online please go back and add the book cover and author links for both books. Thanks.

At least I purchase books that are already on my to-read list . . . So that means I don't have a book buying problem, right?

Paula McLain
The simple answer is "no", Alisa. Why?......because your TBR list, just like mine, is infinite and almost every book mentioned in the HBC gets added to it. But I will never see it as a problem.....obsession maybe, problem, never. :0)
The books in my TBR stash ARE books I own . . . eBooks, audiobooks, hardbacks, paperback . . . whatever format they come in!! Unfortunately every time I get on GR . . . I find more references to other books that look interesting as well . . . for everyone I read from my list . . . I end up adding 2 or 3 more . . . Boredom is NEVER a problem at my place ;-)
Went on a little internet shopping spree yesterday, so these are all making their way to my mailbox over the next couple of days. When shipping is free, why buy just one?

I see these are your Middle Eastern picks. Make sure to add them to the safari general thread because these are great choices.

Two of them are, and I believe I already added those to the general thread but will check and be sure to do so. Thanks.
Yesterday, I bought the soft cover Traitor to His Class: The Privileged Life and Radical Presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt by H.W. Brands

Happy birthday to me! Decided I had to have this, although I don't know when I will start reading it. This has been getting a lot of positive mention locally in the Seattle area, which it would of course because of the presence of the University of Washington.

Barnes and Noble's has a bargain priced section and I got two books for less than 9 dollars. I don't know when I'll get to read them, but they look good!

I have all three of books (Kindle editions) . . . I finished the first and I think I'm about half way through the second . . . (It's been awhile) . . . I've been distracted by all the book discussions I've been involved with . . . so I haven't gotten back to it.
Great series!

I don't try and control my TBR list. I just see it as a place from which I choose books to buy. There is not a chance I can read everything there. Thanks all of you for the suggestions.
Well I've added a few. I don't know if I should even add the one I recieved what was it for christmas? or was it my bday last year shock! I can't remember no it ws christmas woo ok so Im bad with reviews and such and just now going to tell you lovely lot what 4 books have been added to my shelves.

Ransom Riggsso those are all the books from the year so far. The Boleyn Inheirtance was kind of a bargain book at about $10 with taxes. Annette Vallon was $6.25, and Miss.P was only $8. So it's really cool that i find all these books. Not all from the same store. All different stores.the first one on the list like i said was a present.
My problem was that I joined GR . . . then I joined the HBC group . . . it's all their fault . . . I've doubled my TBR stash (Up to 450+ titles) and even if I manage to read 75-100 books each year . . . it's going to take me 4-5 years to get through the ones I already own . . . They say you can't take it with you . . . but I just might have to ;-)
Bryan, the two you bought look excellent. Have you read Candice Millard earlier? I really enjoyed "The River of Doubt"! I would also be interested in the library book, but a lot about Pinchot was in the trilogy I just read about Theodore Roosevelt.

Chrissie, I loved River of Doubt. Fascinating. I'm working on the first of Morris' books based on your recent praise. I might have to put it aside for a moment, but I want to finish it. It is great.

Bryan I am a big fan of Tim Egan. I think you will enjoy that book. He brings a story to life.

Even though the "to be read" collection on my Kindle has over 20 books in it, I am still a sucker for price drop notifications for my much longer "wish list". This morning I added this classic work about the start of WW I.
