Never rated The Lost Symbol last nite, cos I couldn't get into it. Maybe his last 1 I just can't understand. Might need to read it instead of listening to.

Starting Pride and Predjudice and Zombies!
I am enjoying The Book Thief by Markus Zusak right at the moment.
I'm currently reading Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's pretty interesting so far.
I'm just about to finish The Lost Symbol. It's not Brown's best Robert Langdon novel, but is entertaining.How is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?? I've been curious and tempted, but don't know anyone who has read it. I'd love to hear what those of you who have read it think.

I like P&P and Zombies so far (I'm about 50 pages in). Personally I think it helps to have the zombie element since I'm not a big Jane Austen fan. But there isn't too much zombie to take away from the actual story.

Alien Hand Syndrome is VERY cool. Just the kind of oddities explained book that I love. Bits of trivia abound, and it's all written in a bordering on sarcastic way that I really respond to. Oh, and I know the author. The Marx book was one that I got in an online warehouse sale, it's not exciting reading, but it is an interesting perspective on Marx's theories. That, and I really like Gary North
World War Z is just plain hilarious, and I thought it was seasonally appropriate. I also have the The Zombie Survival Guide Complete Protection From the Living Dead, which is brilliant.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies... What can I say... Of course, the original is better. It;s not all too bad. at times, the whole zombie scenario is annoying and out of place (especially the fact that they trained at Shaolin... =/ But the one thing I really like about the book, is that the author gave a lot of power to the females, the whole slaying of zombies, and how good and well-trained the women are.
I am now starting The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. It is becoming a movie and I'd like to see why. I haven't heard much about the book but it's a short quick read and I don't think it's going to compare to my last read.
I just finished DIRTY LITTLE ANGELS by Chris Tusa, andit was a very spell-binding story about growing up
in a poor New Orleans neighborhood. I now have to finish listening to SERENA for bookclub Oct 30, and try to work in THE INVISIBLE WALL by November 1.
I just finished The Woman in Black A Ghost Story by Susan Hill, a great ghost story. I'm now reading Sherlock in Love A Novel by Sena Jeter Naslund.
I'm reading 'One False Move' by Alex Kava. It's taking me longer to finish than usual, which is odd because I usualy like suspencful novels like this.
Almost done with Another Faust, and almost there on P&P&Z.
Just finished The Private Lives of Pippa Lee gave it 2/5 and now I am reading The Average American Male which is a completly different story

Was The Private Lives of Pippa Lee just your generic chick-lit? I feared this, but expected better of Miller because of who her father was.

It pretty much was chick-lit to me. I usually don't read books like this but I do like to compare books to films and I saw that it was a quick read so I went ahead and did so.
That's a shame. Call me a snob but if you're the daughter of Arthur Miller and married to Daniel Day-Lewis, I expect genius!
I'm reading (or rather, listening to) The Grey Woman by Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell.
Just finished reading "The Commoner" set in post World War II Japan where a prince marries a commoner, first time this has happened that someone has been brought in from outside royalty. Up on deck now is "The White Tiger" for my library reading group and "People of the Book" just because........So many books so little time.
Decided to read The Quickie - James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge.
Hi Linda, I recently read The Commoner A Novel too and really enjoyed it. It was an interesting look at the downside of a life many would think was a dream come true.

Just finished Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen was a great book, then started This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen in the bath last night so realxing.
Also re-listening to The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown.
I listened to Frankenstein on audio and it was ok.

So I was going to B&N to buy some books that I had on my list but I wasn't freeling well yesterday so I never made it over there. But since I was home early I dropped off some books due back at the library and there was one of my books I was going to purchase sitting right on the counter so I had to take it out so now I put Hummingbirds aside and now reading High on Arrival by Mackenzie Phillips.
I started today The Gaudi Key A Novel by Esteban Martin & Andreu Carranza. I am reading the hebrew translation.
I am listening to Pt 3 of "Serena" by Ron Rash. Mr and Mrs Pemberton could show Bonnie & Clyde a thing or three. We will discuss it in my real-time bookclubtomorrow morning. There has been so much going on lately that I am really not very far into it yet. What I can say is that a) it is not a book that I would have picked up of my own accord and b) it is pretty easy reading and although so far not much plot there are lots of interesting vignettes. When I finish I will post my thoughts in the what have you finished thread for you.
