Donna (dfiggz) I am reading Shantaram and I gotta admit I am glad that it is over 900 pages because I don't think I ever want it to end! This one is def gonna be one of my top faves.

message 904: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) I was reading The Thirteenth Tale but my husband decided to clean one day and doesn't remember where he put it (the bookshelf was apparently not an option)

message 905: by Yvette (new)

Yvette (yjacobs99) I am currently reading a classic:Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I actually went to Concord, MA last year on a mini tour which included the house this book was written at. It is a small house on a little acreage/farm, but an amazingly inspiring and beautiful place. I am half way through the book and am enjoying ever minute of it.

message 908: by Susan (new)

Susan (seg4me) I finished The Time-Traveler's Wife and then saw the movie. I enjoyed the book far more, but it was interesting to experience both the book and the movie back to back. I am now reading To Kill a Mockingbird and I am loving every page of it.

message 909: by galya (new)

galya Am I the only one who has a problem with The Time Traveler's Wife the movie? :)

No. It was just okay. It was very disjointed. I think it helped to have just finished the book the day before. I'm surprised that a movie was even attempted.

message 917: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Elizabeth This is late, but I just want to add that I love The Thirteenth Tale. It's one of my favorite books.

I'm reading a YA Shannon Hale: Enna Burning. Shannon Hale's books are so entertaining, I can't put it down. Next I think I'll read either The House at Riverton or Shogun. But I'm in university, and school's starting soon.... so I don't know how successful I'll be at finishing either. :'(

You're not alone in loving TTT. It has almost a cult following... well, not really, but it should :D I recommend The House at Riverton - it's better than The Forgotten Garden.

This book is so good and to have a few pages almost impossible to read is just not fair! I am going to write to the publisher!!!!

You mean they're really faded?
Do write to the publishing house - maybe they'll send to a free replacement copy?

message 932: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) Some of the "invisable" pages are fairly legible given the right light but other pages are completely illegible. I emailed the publisher so...???

Re-reading Arcadia A Play for AS English Lit. I only read it in like July or August. Still, it is nice to go deeper, even if members of my class feel the need to perform it with a crude comic edge. :P

message 949: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasonct) | 38 comments Right now I have been re-discovering the classics and have 3 books going.

The Sun Also Rises - Hemingway

The Fall - Camus

The Jungle - Sinclair

I've found the re-reading these books after having lived a little they flourish with nuances I missed, and become less of an intellectual excersise that they were in high school or college.

message 950: by [deleted user] (new)

I started Wuthering Heights today for school. It will take me an age because we're reading it 'as a class'. 'Twill be my second attempt (found it OTT and exasperating before).
