Wow, LOL! Maybe I should stay away from this one. I read The Passage and my husband just finished The Twelve. He liked it, but he said he thought I might not.

I really loved The Passage too, so I had high expectations for this one. But he changes characters literally every 2 pages. It was so hard to keep track of. And the religious undertones weren't even undertones anymore, they were religious billboards. I'll be working on my review for it tonight I think, vent a little of the rage :)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Just finished Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning and I'm only going to say that the ending let me muttering all the bad words I know (aka cussing), in both English and Portuguese

I'm too upset to even pick Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning next. Which is not that bad since it's 11:35 PM, besides...I've learned the hard way that is better to let the brain process a book that doesn't end well before continue with the series...

message 1105: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished The Good Father by Diane Chamberlain by Diane Chamberlain yesterday morning. The Good Father is a gripping, touching and thought-provoking read. The three main characters are Travis, Robin and Erin and each of the chapters in the novel is narrated by one of these characters. Some of the chapters do jump from the present to the past but I thought the story was still easy to follow. Some parts of the story were very unrealistic and far-fetched and the ending of the novel was a bit of a letdown as I thought it was very predictable. It really seemed like the author had rushed out an ending just to make a deadline. I gave this one 3 stars.

Now I'm about to start Monday Mornings by Sanjay Gupta by Sanjay Gupta. I heard this novel is going to be turned into a TV series similar to ER. It sounded like a TV show I'm be interested in watching so I decided to read the book.

message 1106: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 27 comments *sighs* I'm currently reading Rachel's Totem (Cougar Falls, #1) by Marie Harte for a challenge (the requirement is one novella) and to be honest, I hate it. Within the first few pages the heroine already had an orgasm from dry-humping and kissing a STRANGER (seriously, she's known him all of 2 mins) against a wall and then she proceeded to obsess about how he might think her a whore for having sex with him against the wall and brag to his friend. Babe, seriously. If dry-humping constitutes as sex, I've been having sex since I was 14 with the neighborhood boy on his couch.

I'm definitely going to have to start an awesome book tomorrow to balance out the suck.

I'm reading The Vault by Jettie Necole. I'm about a quarter of the way in and most of what I've read has been set up, but it's showing a lot of promise. I'm excited to see how things turn out in the end because they don't look so hot right now. Let's just say semi-forced impregnation at 20 is not my idea of a good time. =p

Suzy Taylor | 9 comments I finished reading a book I last read twenty years ago, “Watchers” by Dean Koontz. I believe my intense love for animals began after I first read that book. A movie was made from the book, but the movie was so different, I didn’t care for it at all.
I also read, "A Miracle For Charlie", by Carolann Hays...it's a short story, and I loved it. I am following her very closely, and have read everything she has written so far. I can't wait for her next book.

Hey Laura. I finished The Vault yesterday and it ended up being worth my while. It was a bit predictable at times and the ending left me a little disappointed, but I can't explain why without giving something away. To be fair though, it was more of a personal issue as opposed to something the author did wrong. There were also quite a few errors on a technical level (using "except" instead of "accept," etc.), but those didn't bother me enough to stop reading and I realize that it wasn't the author's fault either. I know editors don't come cheap, so I can't blame her for skipping the copy editing. =p

To sum it up, I'd recommend it, especially because of the short read time. It only took me about half a day to get through it.

message 1126: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished Monday Mornings by Sanjay Gupta by Sanjay Gupta yesterday morning. I really enjoyed this novel. It is actually very similar to ER. At times during reading this book, I did feel like I was reading an ER script just with different characters! The plot was interesting, gripping, well-developed and well-written. The medical lingo was easy to understand. The characters were interesting, vivid and well-developed. My only gripe about this novel was that I would have liked to learn more about what happened to the characters at the end of the novel.

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty by Liane Moriarty. I really loved this novel! The plot was very intriguing, compelling and well-written with an interesting and unique premise. I loved the author's writing style. The story was very funny and some parts were quite touching and made me want to cry. The characters were all well-developed, vivid and believable. I found it easy to relate to Alice and the other characters. I was unable to put this book down for long. I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next! I gave it 5 stars!

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Yesterday I finished reading The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott by Kate Alcott. I really enjoyed this novel. It was very hard to put it down. I loved all the historical details about the Titanic and its survivors. I liked this unique take on the Titanic disaster. Not many books about the Titanic sinking feature the aftermath of it and how survivors try to deal with what happened and move on. I gave it 4 stars!

I'm also about to finish Twelve Sharp (Stephanie Plum, #12) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich and make a start on The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty by William Peter Blatty.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I just finished Stolen A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher and loved it!

Now I'm working my way through Genesis by Bernard Beckett for a reread/buddy read and A Drizzle of Zombies (Book 1 of The Annals of Absurdity) by Joshua Price which is technically a re-read as well (revised novel). Apparently I like to start my year by re-reading all the books I liked from the year before :-P

message 1135: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 11, 2013 06:49PM) (new)

I'm reading The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead and it isn't... bad. It's just not amazing. Or as good as the Vampire Academy books. I don't like Sydney as much as I liked Rose, I definitely don't like Adrian/Sydney as much as I liked Dimitri/Rose and overall they're both (this and Bloodlines) have just been really predictable.

message 1136: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I just finished reading The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty by William Peter Blatty. The Exorcist is an engrossing, gripping, disturbing and well-written supernatural tale. I really enjoyed this novel. I thought the author's writing style was excellent. I found it very hard to put this book down for long. I just had to know what happened next even though I've seen the movie half a dozen times! It didn't frighten me to death but it did scare me a good bit! Even though the book is over forty years old, except for a bit of seventies slang here and there, it really isn't dated at all. The Exorcist is one of the best horror novels that I've read in a long time. Even if you've already seen the movie a hundred times I'd recommend reading the novel as it's a lot better than the movie!

Just finished Fired Up (Dreamlight Trilogy, #1, Arcane Society, #7) by Jayne Ann Krentz . It started off slow but about the 4th or 5th chapter it started picking up and became a page turner.

Just starting Burning Lamp (Dreamlight Trilogy, #2; Arcane Society, #8) by Amanda Quick and I hope it is as good as book 1.

message 1139: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Burning Lamp (Dreamlight Trilogy, #2; Arcane Society, #8) by Amanda Quick . This book to me was boring to the max hence the 3 star rating I gave it. This second book in the dreamlight trilogy had the same story line as the first book in the series just different names and a different time period. All I can say is I hope the third book in the series is better than the second.

Just started Midnight Crystal (Dreamlight Trilogy, #3; Arcane Society, #9; Harmony, #7) by Jayne Castle .

message 1140: by [deleted user] (new)

Just read the first 6 chapters of Midnight Crystal (Dreamlight Trilogy, #3; Arcane Society, #9; Harmony, #7) by Jayne Castle and I can't finish it. I already see where this book is going from reading book 1 and 2.

Just started Sky Blue by Travis Thrasher .

message 1141: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've just finished Defending Jacob by William Landay by William Landay. Defending Jacob is a well-written, disturbing and gripping crime thriller with plenty of twists and turns throughout the novel to keep you interested. I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the very beginning to the end. The reader is kept guessing as to whether Jacob is innocent or guilty until the very end of the novel. Throughout the trial I kept changing my mind about whether Jacob was guilty or not. I thought this was a excellent read so I’m giving it a well-deserved five stars!

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford by Jamie Ford last night. I really loved this book! Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a beautiful, fascinating, tender and moving story from beginning to end. Like the title suggests, the story is such a bitter-sweet tale, heartbreaking at times and so warm and sweet in others. All the characters were vivid, well-developed and realistic. I really loved the characters of Henry, Keiko and Sheldon, and really cared about what happened to them. I found it really hard to put this novel down and I look forward to reading more from this author! I gave this novel 5 Stars!
