Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
Let's Talk About: Your Books

What are you reading AND what do you think?

I really loved The Passage too, so I had high expectations for this one. But he changes characters literally every 2 pages. It was so hard to keep track of. And the religious undertones weren't even undertones anymore, they were religious billboards. I'll be working on my review for it tonight I think, vent a little of the rage :)

I'm too upset to even pick

Now I'm about to start

I'm definitely going to have to start an awesome book tomorrow to balance out the suck.

I've tried on many occasions to read that one also so I know how you feel. My friends love that book! I couldn't even get past the third chapter.
I'm reading The Vault by Jettie Necole. I'm about a quarter of the way in and most of what I've read has been set up, but it's showing a lot of promise. I'm excited to see how things turn out in the end because they don't look so hot right now. Let's just say semi-forced impregnation at 20 is not my idea of a good time. =p

This book sounds interesting, let me know how you end up liking it.

I just started that one as well. Still working on Feed and The Diviners, too.

I also read, "A Miracle For Charlie", by Carolann Hays...it's a short story, and I loved it. I am following her very closely, and have read everything she has written so far. I can't wait for her next book.

Finished Target Underwear and a Vera Wang Gown: Notes from a Single Girl's Closet and Not Quite Dead Enough earlier this week. Enjoyed both.

The Vampire Academy series are really good. I have read all 6 books. If you don't know yet, the series Bloodlines is a spin-off series of Vampire Academy.

I just started The Paradise War. I got it for 50 cents at a thrift store and it sounded good. My kind of book. I hope it ends up to be a really good book.

I've tried Bloodlines and I don't think it comes close to VA at all.

Hey Laura. I finished The Vault yesterday and it ended up being worth my while. It was a bit predictable at times and the ending left me a little disappointed, but I can't explain why without giving something away. To be fair though, it was more of a personal issue as opposed to something the author did wrong. There were also quite a few errors on a technical level (using "except" instead of "accept," etc.), but those didn't bother me enough to stop reading and I realize that it wasn't the author's fault either. I know editors don't come cheap, so I can't blame her for skipping the copy editing. =p
To sum it up, I'd recommend it, especially because of the short read time. It only took me about half a day to get through it.

My Dad LOVES Stephen Lawhead. The Song of Albion is one of his favorite series.

I've tried it as well. I've tried it 3 times and those 3 times, I still couldn't get it into it.

I think I will give it a go once I have narrowed down my TBR list for January and Febuary. Thanks for the info!

Getting close to finishing Feed. Crazy stuff is happening and it's awesomesauce. LOVE the narrator for this one.

I loved Feed Mary, and Deadline is just as good. I think you will love it too.

I'm also about to finish

Now I'm working my way through

I'm reading
and it isn't... bad. It's just not amazing. Or as good as the Vampire Academy books. I don't like Sydney as much as I liked Rose, I definitely don't like Adrian/Sydney as much as I liked Dimitri/Rose and overall they're both (this and Bloodlines) have just been really predictable.

Now I'm about to start

Just finished
. It started off slow but about the 4th or 5th chapter it started picking up and became a page turner.
Just starting
and I hope it is as good as book 1.

Just finished
. This book to me was boring to the max hence the 3 star rating I gave it. This second book in the dreamlight trilogy had the same story line as the first book in the series just different names and a different time period. All I can say is I hope the third book in the series is better than the second.
Just started
.

Just started

Just read the first 6 chapters of
and I can't finish it. I already see where this book is going from reading book 1 and 2.

I was trying to wait until the group read, but I just couldn't let it sit there staring me in the face anymore.

I have been wanting to read that book. I am glad to hear that someone likes it.

Love love love that book. Let us know what you think when you finish!

Wow, LOL! Maybe I should stay away from this one. I read The Passage and my husband just finished The Twelve. He liked it, but he said he thought I might not.
