What are you reading AND what do you think?

. Meh."Oh no! You aren't like a rabid fan of hers are you? I honestly am curious, because I am a HUGE fan of hers and haven't gotten to this one yet.
This is the first one of hers I read, and I enjoyed the first two-thirds of it for the most part, but walked away at the end asking myself why on earth I read it. The ending sank the entire experience for me.
Ahhh I see, that really sucks! The other Gillian Flynn books I've read the ending has been what sealed it as a fabulous book. But I'm hearing very mixed reviews on this one, I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.
I've finished the 9th book in the Stephanie Plum series (and the best one so far)
by Janet Evanovich. Now I'm reading
by Donald McCaig. It's Gone With the Wind from Rhett Butler's point of view.
I finished
by Donald McCaig earlier today. Basically the storyline of the novel is Gone With the Wind from Rhett Butler's point of view and it was a bit of a disappointment really. Gone With the Wind is one of my favourite novels and I found all the characters in RBP, even the major ones of Rhett and Scarlett, are out of character. There is also a lot of errors that contradict the original, characters dying when they lived in GWTW and vice versa, Melanie knowing about Scarlet being in love with her husband, etc. As a standalone historical fiction novel, Rhett Butler's People is okay but as a complement to Gone With the Wind it sucks! Now I'm about to start
by Diane Chamberlain.
After taking a forced hiatus from the book world, it feels nice to be reading again.I'm flying through Karen Marie Moning's Fever series and loving it. On
at the moment and it's pretty intense. How did I not hear of this series and its awesomeness before? Ahhh. Also started
, though it's taking a backseat to Mac's adventures in Dublin.
I finished reading
by Diane Chamberlain just a few minutes ago. It's a brilliant read! It took me a couple of chapters to get into this novel but once I did I was hooked! Every time you think you've guessed the big secret, it moves to another level and you realise what you think you've guessed is only a tiny piece of the puzzle. I couldn't put it down! Next I plan to read
by John Steinbeck.
Yesterday I finished reading
by John Steinbeck. It's an extremely short but nevertheless fantastic novel. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The ending is so incredibly moving that I cried while reading it. I truly can't recommend this novel enough. John Steinbeck is an excellent author (and one of my favourite writers)! Today I've started reading
by Jay Asher.
Ellie I remember reading it in school and crying. It's been made into a movie 4 times.
I really liked the 1992 version with Gary Sinese & John Malkovich.
Still finishing The Dressmaker
and enjoying it more than the speed with which I'm reading it would indicate. Also reading The White Monkey
which is the fourth of nine volumes of Galsworthy's Forsyte Chronicles -- Galsworthy is probably my all-time favorite author. Between this and the Alcott, I've got the first part of the twentieth century pretty well cornered at the moment. Reading The Book Thief
for a challenge and am not far enough into it yet to know what I think of it. Started Losing Mum and Pup
which I've been meaning to read since Mom died in 2008 but Dad followed last year and I haven't been able to pick this up until now. Also reading
Forever Liesl which is a feel-good memoir of making "The Sound of Music" and is proving to be a quick read. Last and so far least, Savannah: Or a Gift For Mr. Lincoln
which I expected to grab me a lot more than it has. Just finished A Walk Among the Tombstones
, Sand Sharks
, and Rules of Civility
within the last week or so. About R of C: stunning book. Edith Wharton meets F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I've finished a Turkish classic Kürk Mantolu Madonna by Sabahattin Ali, also write a review for this book.Unfortunately it has only German and French translations. I hope one day it will be translated to English.
The book is really one of the best books i've read this year.
Lisa i hope it will be translated to English. When it will be translated, i will recommend it to you.By the way, it has also translated to Chinese:) but not English.
I am reading
I am enjoying it a lot, the story is good. But some parts of it have me thinking "wait, what?" and scratching my head.
Wow, that's a lot! :-)I'm reading
by Joanne Harris for my book club. There are so many descriptions of chocolate - an absolute nightmare if you have a huge sweet tooth and you have no sweets in the house.
And I just started
by David Sedaris.
I finished reading
by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler earlier today. It's just an young adult romance but it's very entertaining and funny. I loved all the 1990's nostalgia!Next I'm going to start reading a Stephanie Plum book:
by Janet Evanovich.
Yesterday I finished
by Janet Evanovich. It's the tenth novel in the Stephanie Plum series. This novel had a far more serious and darker tone than the other books. It was a gripping and exciting read with an excellent plot and great characters. Right now, I'm a couple of chapters into
by Ian Serraillier. This is a re-read. I first read in when I was in school. I remember liking it but I don't remember much about the plot.
I finished reading
by Nicholas Sparks a few hours ago. The book was a bit of a disappointment really. I've read most of Spark's books and I think I'm too used to his writing style. I found the plot of the story to be extremely predictable and slighty unrealistic. But if you've never read a Nicholas Spark novel before, you'd probably like it. Now I'm about to start reading
by John Grisham. It's the october monthly read in a Goodreads group I'm in and I want to get a head start on it.
Ellie wrote: "I finished reading

I've finished reading
by John Grisham last night and this morning I've started
by Christopher Ransom.
I'm reading:Kitty Foyle
and The Caine Mutiny: A Novel of World War II
, the latter on audio, and the narrator sounds a little like Bogie when he reads the Queeg character, which I can't help thinking is deliberate. Also reading A Brew to a Kill
, The Paris Wife
and The Sister Queens
-- so I'm kind of all over the map at the moment!
I finished reading
by Christopher Ransom this morning. This book was one of the worst horror novels I've read in my entire life. It wasn't even the slightest bit scary. The author's writing style is terrible and I felt like most of the book was written by a horny 12-year-old. The whole plot was confusing and I disliked all the characters. I ended up not really caring what happened to any of them. This book is definitely one to avoid. Now I'm about to begin
by Stephen King.
I just finished
by Stephen King earlier today and I absolutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King and The Green Mile has got to be one of the best novels he has ever written. In fact, it's one of the best novels I have ever read in my entire life. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down! It is very beautifully written and extremely moving at times. The plot is original, gripping and heart-breaking. I'd give this book more than five stars if I could! My full review is here. Now I'm about to start
by Shirley Jackson.
Great review, Ellie! Yes, I loved that book (or collection of novellas when it first came out), too!
I just finished re-reading
. The first time I enjoyed the books, the second time, not so much... gosh they were so annoying sometimes...in introspect I can't believe I did like the characters and the dialogues the first time... oh well... that should teach me a lesson, not to re-read a book (or a trilogy, in this case) that wasn't that good in the first place. Now I'm in the middle of
,
and
(and procrastinating)Next, I have
in the waiting line
I am reading Altered Innocence by Carolann Hays....can't hardly put it down.http://www.amazon.com/Altered-Innocen...
Earlier, I finished reading
by Shirley Jackson. I was disappointed by this book to be honest. I felt the novel did not live up to the reputation it has gotten. I just felt like it was missing something. Plus I disliked all the characters and the strange dialogue between them really annoyed me. This is one novel where the movie, or in this case movies, are better than the book. My full review is here.Next I'm going to read
by Anne Rice.
I'm currently reading The Time Regulation Institute by Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar. It's really a very interesting and historical book.
Currently reading
. So far I am really liking it. Some mild irritations with the beginning but now I am totally on board and loving it.
Earlier today, I finished reading
by Anne Rice. The Witching Hour is an extremely long novel, 1207 pages, but don't let that put you off reading as once you open the first page you soon find yourself completely absorbed in the chilling tale of the Mayfair Witches. This novel has a spellbinding, engrossing, well-written tale with complex and mysterious characters. There are plenty of compelling twists and turns in the plot to keep you interested and the suspense is drawn out to perfection. The novel is completely unpredictable, I found the ending to be quite a shock! My full review can be found here. Now, I'm about to start
by Washington Irving and
by Mary Shelley.
Earlier I finished reading
by Mary Shelley. This novel turned out to be nothing like what I was expecting. I was expecting a generic horror story about a monster but what I got was so much more complex, it's actually quite a philosophical story really. I was extremely surprised and impressed by the actual story itself. I really enjoyed this book and I'm happy I finally got around to reading this classic. My full review is here. I'm planning to read
by Janet Evanovich next.
currently reading tweak growing up on meth by nic shedding..its highly interesting to know what it iis like to b a meth addict..not my kind of book..has anyone read this book if so do i finish reading it or put it down..plus i am reading forbidden games by l.j.smith I love this book it is sort of my kind of book but i am hhaving a hard time putting both of these books down..
I finished reading
by Janet Evanovich this morning. Stephanie's adventures still make me laugh after 11 novels. There are so many hilarious and witty scenes in this book. But I have to admit I was a bit annoyed by Stephanie in this book. I just wish she'd finally choose between Joe Morelli and Ranger! Now I'm reading
by Kate Morton.
In addition to
, I jst started
. It's kind of weird so far, and I'm not sure what the point was. I mean, you only got like 100 pages in this, move on!
Haven't been reading much in the last few months but things are starting to pick up again.
- Loving this! I'm actually enjoying this more than I did the previous books in the series. I love Dani's bravado and naivety. Refreshing! Some people are a bit put off by the sexual tension because Dani is only 14 but I don't mind. It's risque and fiction. Live a little!
