I've just finished One Good Turn, which I loved, and will start Garden Spells when I've finished on the laptop.
I finished The Iron King and was rather disappointed. I think I'm gonna re-read Inferno. I could use something light and fun after that last one.
i am currently reading the hammer of eden by ken follett. so far it is really good, he is a brilliant author i would defintely read more by him any day. :)
I'm finally almost finished with The Shield that Fell from Heaven. I won it from firstreads and was excited to get it. I'm now thinking I maybe wasn't a good choice to review this book. Its definitely not for me.
i am currently reading the spy by clive cussler, i am about half way i probably finish it tonight.
I finished The Dogs of Riga yesterday - quite good. Have now started A Changed Man and Other Stories - have read the first story and think I'll get on fine with it. I love Thomas Hardy's novels. When I read his work, I'm in Dorset again - one of my favourite parts of England, after Norfolk!
im currently read the innocent mage by karen miller, i should finish it later today. then i may move onto the dogs of riga.
I've just started reading caroline miniscule (sorry, the link won't appear) by Andrew Taylor. Not sure what to make of it yet.
im roughly half way through Empire of Sand by Robert Ryan. it is a really good historical fiction book so far i personally think
The Perfect DeceitAn intriguing and fascinating book on how countries vie against each other to be top dog on the world stage. Spies, double agents, love triangles -- it’s all in a day’s work for super spy Alexey! In today’s interconnected world, this book gives an interesting perspective on how much competition goes on behind the scenes with ambitions and stakes running high. Hearts are broken and for some power is gained.
Illuminating book on the espionage sphere. Lots of mind games involved. Great book with high drama which makes for a perfect summer read!
i am about to finish the burning wire by jeffrey deaver and havent decided on what i am going to move onto when i have finished the book that i am currently reading. .... god i hate to have to make a decision on what to read next..... :(
I started a third book this month, The Arraignment, just could not seem to settle in on one till the end. But reading 3 of them seems to be working.
I'm reading Dead to Writes by Cathy Wiley (fun), The Help by Kathryn Stockett (which I'm loving), The Quiche of Death by M.C. Beaton (also fun in a slightly acerbic way) and (as ever) The Master and Margarita. I think I'm actually making some real progress with The Master and Margarita and can even foresee a time in the not-too-remote future where I finish it!
I finished A Reluctant Queen: The Love Story of Esther which I really enjoyed. I also just finished Tiger's Curse and didn't really care for it. I'm currently almost finished with Darke and love this one. I think this one is the best of the Septimus Heap series.
Once again I can't stick to one or two books and have around 12 started! 3 audio, 5 kindle and 4 paperbacks, what variety! I'll take myself in hand and go for Susan Hill's The Vows of Silence and Friendly Fire by Patrick Gale
I'm about 1/3 of the way into One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd and really like it so far.
Just started A Reader on Reading on my kindle,The Pillars of the Earth in audiobook and finishing up Nights at the Circus in paperback. I think I'll start The Mists of Avalon when I've finished Nights.
Chemical Sensitivity, Volume I
I think this is the most important book you can ever read if you can get a copy. I had to get it on interlibrary loan and wish I could afford to own it.

I finished The Poison Tree this afternoon and shall finish the Thomas Hardy short stories today, as well, I hope. Think I'll read one of my library books next - The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and also make a start on Let the Right One in.

I'm interested in your opinion of this book.

I was really pleased to find it when I went to the library on Wednesday - was reading the Preface last night but just had to go to sleep!!
Today I picked up 4 more books at the library and started 2 of them. One looks very good but there is too much bad language and garbage in the other for me. One the girl drops a cigarette butt in her mother's drink to see if her drunk mother will swallow it. That gets me down right from the start and I had such high hopes for this book. Tithe
and this one is very good so far:

Well, I finished The Outsiders this afternoon. I think it's an excellent book - I love the characters and yes, I think Ponyboy is a wonderful character. I just wish I'd come across it in the 1970s, when I was teaching English to teenagers. It would have been a great book to teach about characters and for all sorts of discussion topics. Still, better late than never - I've been able to enjoy it for its own sake!
I have read the first three pages of the poison tree five times now and still not got beyond that. It could be me, but do you think this one I should press on with or put to one side for another time.
If you've tried it 5 times and got nowhere with it, maybe it's just not your cup of tea. I think I'd move on to something else and forget about it. It's annoying if you've just bought it, but there's no point flogging a dead horse. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing.
I've made it half way thru Titus Groan but I just don't think I can drag myself thru the other half. I'm gonna put it on hold any maybe come back to it. I think I'm gonna start Dracula in Love
I'm still reading Let the Right One in - not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped. I think I prefer the Sookie Stackhouse type of vampire story!

Angela wrote: "I'm still reading Let the Right One in - not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped. I think I prefer the Sookie Stackhouse type of vampire story!"Angela, I was like that with Let the right one In. I didn't like it from the start. Too much nasty imagery!

I'm curently reading Theodora: Empress, Actress, Whore (Sorry, Goodreads is playing up at the moment and won't let me post links). I'm enjoying it so far.
Edited to add - I can add links now! here it is:[book:Theodora Actress, Empress, Whore
A friend bought me Fantasy Lover after a silly girls night in (I won't go into what the comment was to trigger such a gift)! I've read about 50 pages and oh my word! I'm blushing even telling you I'm reading it!

One of our librarians looks like he's only about 12 (I'm sure he'd be delighted to hear that, since he's clearly old enough for a full time job, but it's the truth). He's definitely not old enough to be handling books like that.

Angela, I was like that..."
Glad you all warned me as I do not like nasty imaginery myself. Sookie is fine for me. I am enjoying Born on a Blue Day very much and also Fall Down Laughing. Learning lots from both of them.
Born On A Blue Day: Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant
Fall Down Laughing: How Squiggy Caught Multiple Sclerosis and Didn't Tell Nobody

Chris wrote: "Go on Jackie, you know you want to!"One of the reviewers of Fantasy Lover said it was really (intentionally) funny and there were lots of references to cheese. Are both those statements true? If they are, I'm going to have to read it, it sounds surreal (hopefully in a good way).
