Sophie | 2 comments Once i finish Nicholas Nickelby i hope to read Treasure Island, The Rainbow by D.H.Lawrence, Dracula, the Un-dead by Dacre Stoker, Anna Karenina, and Daniel Deronda by George Eliot. Usually i never know what i am going to read next but all of these books are library books which are due back except Anna Karenina which is my own copy and i am going to read it for the book group.

Monica | 1 comments my next five books.... I will change my mind a million times.... but here it is what I THINK i'll read next :)

The Out of Office Girl by Nicola Doherty Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James Monday to Friday Man by Alice Peterson It Happened in Paris by Molly Hopkins One Perfect Summer by Paige Toon

message 304: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (travellingsunny) This is ridiculous. I can't seem to stay focused long enough to actually read the five books that I list. I get sidetracked and read completely different books. Nevertheless, here's the plan as of today:
Out of Africa
Gone Girl
Three to Get Deadly
The Lightning Thief
The Tale of Genji

message 305: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) | 296 comments I am the same Sunny I can't seem to settle into what I want to read. I have to read Elantris and want to read Gone Girl (but it is too expensive and we have waiting lists at the library). I am awaiting a copy of the Bell Jar but I also have the new Matthew Reilly book.......

message 306: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (travellingsunny) Bev, I know what you mean about the library waiting list. I put Gone Girl on hold with my library back on July 24th (and there were 140 people ahead of me.) But, it's a month later, and we're down to only 43 people ahead of me, so I'm thinking I'll get it in another two weeks or so.

message 307: by Dani (new)

Dani I have finally decided to stop adding more titles to my TBR shelf as it hit 1200. My next 5 reads will be:

1. The ADHD-Autism Connection A Step Toward More Accurate Diagnoses and Effective Treatments by Diane M. Kennedy

2. Genie A Scientific Tragedy by Russ Rymer

3. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

which are 3 I am going to loan from my library

and then the other 2 are:

- Mockingjay (after I finish Catching Fire which I am currently reading)

- The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (been on list awhile and it is the month read so I tend to read them after the fact because of the amount I get from library while I can!

Also love the kindle eloan feature at my library it helps me read more, too!

message 308: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (travellingsunny) Oh, man! The Notebook... Get a couple boxes of tissues ready. I cried so hard I had to stop reading because I COULDN'T EVEN SEE THE PAGES THROUGH MY TEARS! Stupid Nicholas Sparks. I don't know WHY I keep allowing him to do that to me...

I read The Luck One and that was sad enough. I wish we could loan books on kindle in the UK. Very sad now.....

I am hoping to get the Bell Jar soon. Mockinjay was great BTW.

message 310: by Dani (new)

Dani it's not through Amazon, although they have a program to do that as well for Prime members. The kindle loan is something my public library does for members!

message 311: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) | 296 comments Ah we havent caught up yet here in the UK

message 312: by Julie (new)

I am the same! I went back to my post from June 1st about my next 5 reads and so far, I've only read 2 of them!! I keep getting side tracked! I've tried to put my TBR list in an order but I keep skipping around in that too!! I guess it just depends on my mood at the time when it's time to move on to the next book and the price, wait at the library, etc.

message 314: by Allison (new)

Allison I dont know how any of you know what you're reading NEXT let alone the next five!!! I have to play the eenie-meenie-miney-moe game to choose my next book. I think planning the next five will give me a heart attack! Im having anxiety just thinking about it lol

message 315: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 2 comments I think we should return to this thread once we have read 5 books to see if we really did read the books we said we were going to. I have read 5 books since my last post and i didn't end up reading even one of those books i listed! In the end i read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Madame Bovary, The Turn of the Screw, The Magician's Nephew, The Apple by Michel Faber, and i'm just finishing Oliver Twist. I don't think i ever read the books i plan to, i play eenie meenie miney moe like Allie. I own so many good books that i find it hard to choose my next book to read.

message 316: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) When I saw this thread a while back, I thought it would be a good way for me to stick to a reading plan. I also change my mind about what to read next, and as a result I have books that have lingered on my TBR list for ages. Picking out no more than five books at a time has helped me to clear some of those books off my shelf. I usually pick a few that have been on my list for awhile, then a couple I can't wait to read plus I mix up the genres as well. Right now though I seem to be a mystery kick. I read fast, so it doesn't take long to go through five books, usually. So, far I've been able to stick to the plan. Any more than five books in the lineup though and I would probably fall back into old habits. LOL

message 317: by Allison (new)

Allison The eeney-meeny game really helps doesn't it, Sophie? lol

As predicted, I have been side-tracked. Again. Not surprising at all.

I DID manage to read Out of Africa. But, Gone Girl and The Tale of Genji are still on hold at the library. (I'm next for Tale of Genji, but Gone Girl - there's still fifteen folks in front of me on the waiting list.)

SOOOOOO........ My next five, in no particular order, and assuming one of my library holds doesn't come up first...

A Thousand Splendid Suns
Three to Get Deadly
The Lightning Thief
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
