Pyjamas in public.

Stacia and Myles, thank you for making me feel less geezerish.

I could understand if the top were exposing skin, but the bottoms? Was there buttcrack in the equation?

And your son's reaction was...?
(In her defense, buttcrack is sometimes unintentional. Clothing designers are to blame, often.)

Huh?"
Banana's in pyjama's is an Australian thingy. Leigh will love them. I'm glad our culture is having some influence on your kids. :D

Maybe she is. She spelt pyjamas correctly.
Ahhhh yeah, it's 2pm on Monday.

I don't really know what B2 would reply. Maybe I should read further on that wikipedia link before snagging the picture, eh?

Oohhh, I am so glad it's not 2 p.m. Monday where I am.

Oh well, I am 1/2 a day closer to having 10 days off.
True dat.
Lets talk general pyjamas now. I don't wear them in public but I do enjoy putting them on a few hours before bedtime. This is a new, post becoming a mom/old/fat thing that I think is related to the fact that a lot of my pants chafe me around the hips so it is a glory to take them off and put on something with an elastic waistband.
But enough about that.
What kind of pyjamas do you wear?
Do you wear the same sort/style night after night?
Men, do you wear full on matching tops and bottoms?
Ladies, do you actually wear nightgowns?
How many fellow TCers have slippers on their feet?
Does anyone have more than one robe? If so, why?

You're not supposed to take those! That's why there was no robe for me when I went on a Celebrity cruise 9 years ago.

My winter pajamas are a medium purple polartec type fabric with celery green piping. They are very comfortable. If the bedroom is warm enough, though, I prefer to sleep in a t-shirt. I don't like having swaths of fabric enveloping my body. I need to move freely. I have a pair of Black Watch plaid flannel pajamas which I don't wear because they're not warm enough and the elastic in the waistband is itchy. I have cotton pajama bottoms I can wear if I have guests who don't need to see me in underwear. I think I have a summer pair of short pajamas somewhere. I don't have a robe - I just transition smoothly from towels to clothing.
I can see that part of the no robing; the only time I need a robe is after a bath when I'm all hot and sleepy. I do like a good robe hour or so in the morning while the coffee makes its way into my blood and into my brain. Then I can start to think about other clothes.
I wear bright orange and pink flannel pyjamas in winter. They have "Dancing Queen" printed on the front with a picture of a hippo in a tutu. They were a gift from my kids. I have a robe but it is rarely necessary.

Don't the rabbits nibble at the celery?

i have those blue and purple ones.

I have six different terry cloth robes, all very thick and plush and in different colors. I'm with Sallers on liking a post-shower robe hour for coffee in the morning. I sleep in either cotton jersey pjs or cotton jersey nightshirts, depending on how cold it is.

Kinda like this:

Or this:

Or even this:

Gilligan & O'Malley (a Target brand) used to make them and they were usually under $30. I haven't seen any for a long time, though. And when they do make them, they're not the white ones they used to make. The one that I adored the most was one I purchased off the sale rack at Crabtree & Evelyn about 15 years ago - it was full length, 1 in straps on the shoulder that criss-crossed across the back, had a little pearl button clasp below the strap line on the low back and a plunging neckline in the front that was sort of a 40s style cut. It was so sweet and feminine... and sexy, too. And HOOMG, so soft.
Instead, I find myself settling for this:

Are you ready for bed now RA? What time do you go down these days? Up at 3 am even during break?

Sallers, I love how you say "go down", not in a pervy way, but because you have a baby, so you're using baby vocabulary to describe how grown ups go to bed.
I "go down" as soon as I can after Leah. She must hear you rise, RA, because she's up shortly thereafter.

My goodness, those are fancy. You could almost wear them to a garden party or a wedding.

Oh! I wish... That'd be heaven to me.

How did the elephant fit in your pajamas?
