Hi Bun...Follow up question regarding my little pooch...
I took Pippa to the vet to see what was up with her sad leg a week and a half ago. The vet examined her and told me that it was nothing, gave me some anti-inflammatories and sent me out the door.
Pippa was sent to my parents' house to hang out for the week where she could hang out with my dad and be supervised during the day. While there, she went on walks using either 3 or 4 legs and "got better", meaning she wouldn't always hid under the couch and didn't look super pathetic anymore.
I picked her up on Sunday and before I left, gave her a bath. When I plucked her out of the warm water, the knob on her dog ankle was HUGE. I called the vet and made an appt. to bring her in yesterday. They looked at it, said "Yeah, that's a big knob" and made an appointment to have her x-rayed today.
Last night, she went into the grass all alone and will hop around (on three legs) when I pick up a ball and she's much better, she's just mostly on three legs.
I just received a call that there's nothing abnormal about the bone and when I asked what the deal was, the vet told me that she was going to refer me out for a joint tap. From what I've read, most joint taps are to figure out if there's a disease like arthritis or some weird auto-immune thing. I watched Pip trip in the hole and the vet knows it.
Am I being yanked around? Would a joint tap help a sprain? Should I wait to see if she gets better (as she has been) on her own?
I'm not going to lie, some of this is a cost issue... Ijust had her sedated today (to the tune of 230.00 and she'll need it again for the joint tap). If it's NOT NECESSARY, I don't want to pay for it. If it is necessary, I totally will.
I just would a second opinion from a stranger on the internet, who I trust more than my freaking vet. :)

Does it smell like dirt..."I fixed 'em! They're not broken anymore. I moved 'em into full sun (instead of just partial sun) and fed 'em some Super Bloom. The basil's gotten monstrously big for that lil ole pot. I think this is about the first time I've been able to grow basil.

Thanks Bun! I talked to her vet and we decided that just leaving her alone to heal for the next week is the best course of action.It was really helpful to have questions like that just poised and ready to go (even though I didn't have to ask some of them, because I didn't even have to get feisty with the vet!)

Hey Bun, I have a question... lately Robby's been doing this, errr, different thing, and frankly, it's kind of cute. As I'm getting ready in the morning, he sits on the end corner of my bed. When I'm ready to take him out, I lean down to scratch his neck a bit... and he'll lean in towards me and stick his snout in my armpit and nuzzle it, sort of. He'll then roll his head back and forth across that area between my armpit and my shoulder... like he's giving himself a scratch behind the ears on me. And then he'll just leave his head there, pressed against my armpit... like it's comforting or something. Is that weird? Or rather, is that normal?

His tail's usually wagging and he'll pick his head up slightly to the side and smile a bit (like a proud sort of gesture), so I think that's a happy gesture. In fact, that's usually his gesture when I'm ready to put his leash on him.

Bun, is there any chance my bleeding heart plant will come back? I haven't seen it in two years. I cut back the rambling rose and it's overshadowing the little corner where the bleeding heart is/was. I'm attached to it because maybe it was planted many, many years ago and it belongs here, with this house.
I haven't seen any flowers. There's stuff growing there but I haven't checked to see if it has bh leaves. I'll check it out!

They'll also grow in the ground. My mom's offshoots, fell to the ground from the hanging plant that she has dangling from her tree. Those offshoots rooted to the ground.
Bun, when you go to divvy up a rootbound spider plant, do you use a serrated knife or a plain one?

I get it, Jim.Did you see what Huntsman said about Iowa? He said Iowans pick corn and New Hampshire voters pick presidents. Surely that will get him LOTS of votes on Tuesday night at the caucus. It's sad, because he truly is the shining star of the bunch.
Bun, what's a toe of garlic? My aunt just said that's the proper term for a bulb, but that seems strange to me.
In Dutch a clove of garlic is called 'teentje' which means toe, so I'm guessing it means clove.
