MacAfee is not an antivirus… if you find it on a computer it must be treated as a malware and in some cases will force you to format =PBlack berry users should go to user’s hell and burn in the same level as the Mac users and be torture till they repent of thinking they have “absolute control” over their computers without being there…
After a few calls to any support center they should figure out that you know what the hell you doing and give you a number that explain that you do FUCKING know what the hell is going on and send you what you ask for or to the department that you ask for… telling 3 different Hindi dudes yes, the 3rd light is blinking is not fun at all…

Any kind of software/hardware seller is a leach when you know the industry… they will try to convince you that they know what you want/need every single time… even when you know that they bullshiting about their software/hardware… and even when you tell them that you know that they bullshiting you… they will still try to prove you wrong…

Actually my s-i-l used to gripe about hers, and I figured since she's such a pill that it was her fault. She's the only one I know personally who has had a problem. I'm sure others have. Now that they used the Pentium, Mac is FINALLY compatible with most programs too.

I have to admit I don't use a computer for very technical things, but I can honestly say that I've owned a Mac since '91 and have never had to call technical support. Whereas my hubby uses a PC (he has to - he does a ton of work with Microsoft and it 's easier to do his invoicing thru their system on a PC) - he is constantly screaming and moaning about the problems he has.
Just sayin. It's no big deal to me, I just love the arguments the die-hards have, so I enjoy teasing a diehard when I see one. *naughty laughter ensues*

Mac’s are the cat’s meow Alfonso. It goes far beyond just graphics. I use both interchangeably because of work. This is coming to an end because Mac’s now run vista better then Microsoft OS’s can. For the record, I bought a desktop MAC for my wife in 99 and it has never frozen crashed or closed a program. No blue screen of death, no virus protection needed, no Mcafee, The pre loaded software is more then capable in protecting the system. The updates are free. So yes, you pay more right out of the gate, but you get what you pay for. Have fun talking to Dell tech support :p
Dude, Dell is the devil… talked to them twice one trying to fix a friends computer… (they couldn't help me I had to figure it out myself) and the second time well same problem =P I use HP, dude I’m not saying that Windows is the shit… it sux it has a lot of problems… but I can play whatever I want and do whatever I want… is like saying is more safe to stay home than go out and have fun and doing dangerous shit…. windows users that switch to Mac are usually morons who don’t know how to fix their own shit… I told you even if Mac was great… and perfect and did everything from hardcore gaming to right click I still won’t used cuz just the idea of acting like one of them makes me want to vomit.

And for the last time my problem is not with the OS (even tho it sux) is the users… Mac users are to the Computer World what Vegans are to the Culinary world….
Well you know, you wouldn't have to worry about "fixing" anything if you had a Mac, it would work the first time, every time. No stupid Vista security warnings, no stupid vista program crashes, no stupid vista Are you sure you want to open this program... Eh, I double clicked on it didn't I... The purpose of tools is to accomplish commands for the user, not debate the commands, PC's suck scab laden donkey dick. Deal with it. Just saying, just throwing it out there.

hey alfonso, i'm with lori here. and YES, THE PROS USE MACS. i'm a professional graphic designer; i haven't used a PC since i moved out of my dad's house and i've never looked back. not to sound like a fangirl or anything (they're having their share of problems now that they're coming into their own. for example, see the current 3G iphone fiasco). but i love it. it does everything i need. the only reason anyone ever has to call tech support on a mac is:a) they're running obsolete hardware or software. unlike microsoft, apple will force you to upgrade and keep up with everything, or your shit will stop working. it's kind of sucky, but when you look at all the problems vista has caused (and also, the adobe suite, which hasn't ever been fully rewritten even though it should have been 3 years ago when CS came out), then you understand why.
b) the user is an idiot and does something stupid. hard to do, but certainly happens.
c) it's a lemon. it happens. but that's what apple care is for. or, if it's a 1st gen device of some sort, it'll probably be corrected shortly (again, see the iphone disaster). and even if it does take awhile (like the finder problems that carried over into osX), there's usually workarounds that work decently well.
although i am with you on some of the mac users out there; they can get pretty obnoxious. but they're no worse than all the microsoft/linux fanboy, so i guess it just goes with the territory. but please, do not compare me to a vegan. that's just not cool.
I could say how much I used to love playing around with my PC guts (I use latop now) I could debate a lot of shit on what they use to build Mac Os… there is a lot of shit that can be said on both sides… and I don’t care… honestly…. IS THE FUCKING MAC USERS THEM STUPID SNOB MOTHER FUCKERS THAT DRIVE INSANE!!! That’s all I’m saying here but you see how they get mad aggressive and try to force you into mac??? Therefore this discussion is pointless… I hate Mac users and I don’t like Mac Os (if you pronounce that together it sounds like macos which means frogs in some parts of my country and I hate frogs (is just a freaking joke Macos… dot go crazy thinking that I’m using that as a point gosh!)) but what I want to know… is there a possible way to make a Mac user shut up?? I mean besides putting his Big Moca Latte Crema voala Cha lala puj ($10 at star bucks) and his organic muffing (like 50 bucks on that weird organic store in Soho… but it makes your feces more biodegradable) on his throat?and thank you tracy for making your point without trying to force your OS preference =)

Are you kidding me? Why do Mac users think they're so different. They're not. They're just like EVERY other Mac user.
Lets compare $$$ per performance shall we? For $1200 you can get an AMD quad-core w/ an Nvidia 8800, 4GB of DDR800 RAM, and a 10000RPM Raptor.
So how much would the equivalent hardware cost on the Mac side? And the record, the world is NOT just Mac and Windows.
Have any of you graphic designers looked at the open source alternatives? I.e. Gimp running on Linux?

So having an OS and graphic software w/ a price tag of FREE, you can use the difference in cost to get yourself a SATA-II RAID 0 that will allow significantly faster page file swapping.

Really? What if you're running a video-post studio where all the Mac clients connect to a 23TB NFS FiberChannel SAN to store all the finished rendered edits. And half of your users are complaining that they can't see the share?Or how about the presence of duplicate files that are all prefixed w/ ._

Or lets say you want to use the Unix shell of OSX to pass your credentials to a Kerberos realm for authentication to, say, a graphics server that holds the ad campaigns for presidential candidates [and thus requires some measure of security controls]?
Seriously Lori, operating systems are complicated shit; esp. OSX's unix core. Its a pretty complex and powerful tool that goes WAY beyond using FinalCut and Photoshop.

I love joking about it because people get so involved with it, as happened here. In fact...I think my favorite OS is the one running on my cellphone. You know that bad boy has never ever crashed...never needed a reboot or a driver update.
