Indonesians Who Love English Books discussion
Hello and Welcome!

What Are You Reading?
Done with A Visit from Goon Squad which is a bit weird and at first I couldn't get it, why there are so many characters, but toward the end I got it. It was nicely done.
Then after that I read The Secret History which is awesome! I like it more than The Goldfinch. I think people should read it!

That's why I'm mixing it up with some Indonesian books."
It's in my TBR. I was worried I'm gonna stuck too XD esp since I'm not a fan of Secret History :p
I'm reading The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri. Cant hardly wait for Murakami's new book! It's in Opentrolley Preorder list..but the price is oh so expensive :p
I have finished The Diving Bell and The Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby. Amazing and simple narration about a man who suffered an unfortunate cancer, he could only communicate by blinking his left eye. Must read and the book is so light and simple yet touching your tiny and fortunate world.
Why didn't I realize that World After by Susan Ee is out? I am like, almost one year late to the party.
Is it disappointing, Winona? Angelfall was so good, so I guess it might be hard to up the original. I will still read it though. Soon, I hope!
So many books to read ^^"

Still reading Caesar's Women by Colleen McCullough. Good story but i still feel the first book in the series The First Man in Rome is strongest and has the most interesting characters. Perhaps its because i have been to focused on this series.. I might temporarily divert to Warhammer 40K novels for a while.
Starting another non-fiction The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration, about black people in the South trying to escape the Jim Crow land. Also another fiction Island Beneath the Sea, about slavery in Haiti.

, been putting this on hold for too long now. The time has finally come for me to read it :P"
INGSOC! Interesting read indeed.
Just finished with Doomed by Chuck Palahniuk. Pretty disappointed with this book actually. It's okay, but I've read better stories from him. :(
Now reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
I've just finished with Galbraith's new book The Silkworm (is he/she is going to put animal in all Cormoran Strike's books?), I think Cuckoo's Calling is better.
Now contemplating whether I should read Englishman in Madrid or Ghost Bride or Gadis Pantai.

At the same time I'm reading Vintage Munro by Alice Munro (short stories) and Red Sorghum by Mo Yan. As the reading continues my mind goes back and forth from the Japanese occupation era in China to suburb Canada in the present time. It's fun.
@Dina: Red Sorghum! I've heard many good things about Mo Yan. Is this one any good?I'm starting a travel book, Among the Russians, which is somewhat somber and melancholic (like Russia itself, according to the author). Then another fiction, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which was quite popular apparently. Will see if it lived up to the hype.
@Regina: oh wow. Someone else who is reading High Fidelity. I'm currently reading that book as well :D
I'm currently reading A Nation In Waiting: Indonesia In The 1990s (it's all in English). The title explains it all. I've been reading this book on and off for 3 months. It's hard to keep your attention to the book, but it's still worth the read. And, I don't know if this counts, but I'm also reading an english translation of "Noli Me Tangere". Just started reading, but I like it already.
I just finished Sputnik Sweetheart and I have so many lingering thoughts.
For those who have read it, talk to me please on our Haruki Murakami thread!

Just started
for NetGalley's review. This book quite funny so far (but I just reached page 20..too soon to judge)
Marathon-ing Cornelia Funke's book. After finishing Fearless now I'm currently reading Ghost Knight (I know that's a children book but....)
I'm halfway done with Lola and the Boy Next Door. I'm really liking it. The characters are very unique :)
I have just finished with Un Lun Dun by China Miéville. And I love it. Really love it. 5 stars no doubt. :D
Continuing with the Lunar Chronicles series, I'm currently reading Scarlet. Loving the story so far but Cinder and Kai is still my favorite couple :)
Halfway through The Ghost Bride, pretty disappointing so far...Starting another travel book, In Siberia. Same author, wondering if this one was a spin-off off his previous book Among the Russians.
Just finished Light the last book in the Gone series by Michael Grant. REALLY good, it's literally a crying and gasping festival. A really good series indeed - very recommended (but it's kinda dark and gruesome, so might not for everyone)Since I'm still in my mourning period (because end of a great series always caused this), I choose Lola and the Boy Next Door for the next read - a (hopefully) lighter book that might boost up my mood
So, today my copy of All the Light We Cannot See finally arrived (after 23 days of waiting). Just started it and liking it already.
Currently reading The Swallow: A Ghost Story and I think I might like this one. There are ghosts, for sure (even I hate horror story)
Stephen King's On Writing is on my first priority. meanwhile, Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi stuck at the third chapter.
I went on a YA binge guys. I've recently finished Lola and the Boy Next Door, Isla and the Happily Ever After, The 5th Wave and These Broken Stars. And now currently reading Siege and Storm.
Finished with The Book of Negroes, a great book that addressed slavery and slave trading. Currently also reading The Invention of Wings that also dealt with slavery, but it's not as good. For a change of pace, I picked up a humorous book about Africa: Whatever You Do, Don't Run: True Tales of a Botswana Safari Guide. I hope this one will lift my mood :)
I just finished City of Stairs last week and it was so good. One of the best books I've read so far this year. :)Now I'm reading Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I'm at about 27% and things are getting very interesting.
Started reading Let it Snow: Three Holiday Romances yesterday night.I'm not really a seasonal reader but I've been curious about this book for quite a while. Plus, it's December so it's the perfect time to read it :)
I'm reading The Way of Kings, since it's free from iBooks. Completely hooked! Now I have to look for the next book.
Hello, all! I'm currently reading It's Kind of a Funny Story. This book hits close to home, though. I definitely can relate to what the protagonist is feeling. So far, I like it.
Almost finished with Isla and the Happily Ever After. I can say that this is my favorite out of the three books of the series.Planning to read We Were Liars next :)
Finished with The Bean Trees. Boy, I love Kingsolver's books! This one had a tough, no-nonsense gal that I admired very much. So next, I'm going to read the sequel: Pigs in Heaven.Alongside, I'm also reading: The Light Between Oceans. Still okay, so far.

I really like Angelfall and thinking of buying World After, but after reading your comment (and the book's reviews) I think I'll postpone it.
