yeah, it's great, makes you more absorbed in the story. well, sometimes i get annoyed that it gets so slow,it could take hours to finish a book. but at climatic scenes.. it's just worth it XD

yeah! it's awesome, Brandon Sanderson is a master at weaving intricate plots. The characters are interesting, and you can't help but sympathize with them, and he's one of the few authors that can make a girl the main character without making her seem weak or annoying. And, as always his magic system is intriguing and rich.
There only bad thing so far was the constant change of POV... it makes us know more of the world but sometimes... well, just try it out, to me, this is his masterpiece, and i hate myself for reading it now. I'll have to wait for a year or two for the sequel...;p

Well I think you need to prepare for at least 10 year? because he planned the series would be about 10 books or so..:)

ooh.. stormlight archive! that was one of the best books i've read in years! finished that in one sitting, all night long. skipped work the next day. haha..

i know what you mean about the constant change of POV, but honestly, i kinda guessed he got that from trying to complete Robert Jordan's work. god knows Jordan has so many different characters and such. besides, if you've read mistborn and elantris, this was just so much different in his storytelling style. he really did mature a lot.

i seriously cannot imagine listening to the audio book version. the story was just incredibly vivid in details, i think audio books would just limit my imagination.

also the characters, dammit it was GOOD! the twist at the ending with subtle clues on the actual stance in the story kept me hooked. i've been plugging this book to Rachel for a long time, and sadly, she has not seen the light. hahaha..

i'm just hoping he won't be anything like G.R.R. Martin, and actually publishes on time...

Yeah, I've read elantris and mistborn, that's what lead me to the way of kings, and i was surprised that he got even better.
the audiobooks actually sparked mine actually :D

hopefully he published on time AND doesn't kill most of the characters we eventually care and love.

This is just the strangest thing. Just last weekend a friend of mine just. could. not. shut. up. about The Way of Kings, about Roshar, about B Sanderson.

Now I guess I'll give it a try.

Okay, I finished Theft of Swords last night. Now I need to decide which to read first between The Name of the Wind or The Way of Kings. I know both are a bit heavier plot than the previous book I read..:)

The name of the wind is "lighter" than the way of king. But both are very entertaining books.

Theft of Swords is pretty easy read..it doesn't have lengthy explanation on world building and on every plot. The author had managed concise and pretty straight forward story telling.

Quite a lot of surprise on the story itself. The author had also managed to put every reasons on both sides of coins. So yeah, I enjoyed it. Ready for the next book which is Rise of Empire, but I think I'm gonna take a break from the series and read something else. :)

Well...

I just finish reading Serpent's Kiss by Thea Harrison. Beside the romance aspect, I love this book, since its full of riddles and mysteries.
Now into Wicked As They Come by Delilah S Dawson. Kinda remind me of Alice in Wonderland, with bunnies that have fangs and Mad Hatter (or Chesire Cat?) that drink blood. Pretty unique!

That was me finally catching a breath after reading the Prologue of The Way of Kings. Daym, talking about action sequence and worldbuilding. Though I saw that it's gotten mixed, almost polarized reviews. :/

@Tasha and Jati: what can I expect from the rest of the book, in terms of plot, characters I can root for, and worldbuilding?

Haha.. But seriously, there are so many characters you can sympathize with in the story, and Sanderson was pretty straighforward in their depiction.

Szeth is the conflicted awesome asassin, and you just couldnt predict where he will go in the story. I felt sorry for the dude, though.

But Kaladin is central to the story. Pay attention to his details, so many discoveries along the way.

But you can't really root for just one character in this story. Its like the power rangers, separate people with separate functions which will be incredibly badass if/when they do team up..

Also, the worldbuilding and the action sequences. Holy crap. That's a reason on its own to read the entire story.

I'm trying to finish 3 books at a time: Un Lun Dun, Veronika Decides to Die , and To Kill a Mockingbird . These are not-so-newly-published books, but these books are the debts that I have to pay before I buy aother books. I got my eye for To Kill A Mockingbird actually. Shame on me to read it now, since I bought the book like almost a year ago. *sigh* if I could finish these 3 books, I could go for more book-shopping! Yeay.

couldn't have said it any better.
@reza: plot will get more awesome along the way, and you'll most probably sympathize with most of the central characters.
Sanderson's world is rich, and it's not fully explored in the first book, and since there's 9 books coming, I expect it's gonna expand even more.

Re-read No Rest for the Wicked by Kresley Cole. Still waiting Indonesian publisher will publish her IAD series. I found most of Indonesian's romance readers prefer Historical Romance or Contemporer, rather than PNR or UF :/

That's true. It happens when I read Virgil's Aeneid. I read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and even re-read The Count of Monte Cristo in between. (And haven't finished it even now)

Oh and I haven't told you what I thought of Paper Towns. I liked Q a lot; didn't appreciate the ending though. I actually liked Alaska as a character much better than Margo. And in retrospect, I think I also liked Looking for Alaska better. At least after reading LfA, I'm still thinking whether she actually off-ed herself or not. Makes my brain swirl, lol.

I'm currently reading Madame Bovary. Haven't read classics in a while.

The Knife of Never Letting Go, supposedly a YA book, but to me a good book is a good book, and it transcends categorization. Thank heavens.
