Brigid ✩ | 135 comments Just picked up from the library …  Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles, #2) by Kami Garcia

message 257: by Tintin (new)

Tintin (marimorimo) | 40 comments Went to the second hand bookstore and found a number of titles I liked, but I'm conserving space so I hauled in only 2 books (dirt cheap):

Beloved by Toni Morrison and A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly

Finding A Northern Light in the bin was like a miracle... I'm currently reading Jennifer Donnelly's newest book Revolution and I badly wanted to read her earlier award-winning work. I didn't find a copy in the local bookstores. And then reached into the bin and there it was in my hand :)

Lori (tyme2read) Carmel wrote: "Wow Lori, you're going to be one busy lady!"

Carmel, I have a book shelf FULL of books I still have to read. My problem is this, I enjoy buying the books(rarely at full price) as mush as I enjoy actually reading them and it has kinda gotten away from me,lol

message 259: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Carmel,I know what you mean.I haven't had a lot of reading time this month either. I have been too busy sewing Christmas gifts so I can make sure they make to the proper houses in time for Chrismtas. I am thinking I will take a break this weekend to try and finish Clockwork Angel which I started weeks ago,lol

I've heard only good things about the series. Thanks! Funnily, the woman at the library (probably in her mid 60's) told me this is her favorite series when I was checking out my books.

I love this series. Definitely more then I thought I would.

I thought they would be typical romances, and in alot of ways they are. But I do have to say that I was surprised by how emotional they can make me. It could be that I tear up easily, but they've made me cry a number of times.

message 281: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Woot! I used my 33% off Borders coupon to buy On the Jellicoe Road for $6.00. Next up I plan to buy North of Beautiful with another Border's coupon, so it should be the same price. I heart Borders.

message 282: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I got another armload from half priced books.
I finally got a copy of The Hunger Games hardcover, I had the other two in hardcover but could only find Hunger Games in paperback forever.
I also bought Lucky Charm (Lucky trilogy, #1) by Carly Phillips , Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews , Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews and Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy .
Now if I could only find a copy of City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare hardcover wihtout having to pay full price I'd be estatic.

message 283: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I need a hardcover copy of Hunger Games too, Amanda. I have Catching Fire and Mockingjay in hardcover.

message 284: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I got my hardcovers of Hunger Games and Catching Fire at Sams Club - I know Target has them cheap as well.

message 285: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (lindz101) | 6 comments Just bought Last Sacrifice - can't wait to see Rose back in action Last Sacrifice

message 286: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Just received Noughts & Crosses (Noughts & Crosses, #1) by Malorie Blackman and The Ring of Solomon A Bartimaeus Novel by Jonathan Stroud in hardcover (been waiting for this one for mooooonths!)

I'm so happy when I get new books. They're brand new, and fresh, and smell paper. And I sound like a maniac. But better be a book sniffer than a panties sniffer (okay that's a joke for Misfits fans ! XP)

message 287: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I brought home from the library yesterday:
The Enemy by Charlie Higson which I 've heard is a creepy disgusting horror story. I'm kinda excited!
The Black Dagger Brotherhood An Insider's Guide by J.R. Ward , I Shall Wear Midnight (Discworld, #38) by Terry Pratchett , I Was Told There'd Be Cake by Sloane Crosley and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak on audio, which I've started and can't seem to get into it.

message 288: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Reading the Insiders Guide now.

message 289: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Don't worry Amanda, I had a hard time getting into the Book Theif too, and I did it on audio. I think it was because the story is so slow, but it gets better.

message 290: by Jaimie (last edited Dec 08, 2010 11:34AM) (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I just got Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun (Tressa Jayne Turner, #3) by Kathleen Bacus , Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta , and Never After by Dan Elconin from Betterworld Books! I kind of want to wait until the weekend so I can read them uninterupted but I don't know if I can hold out that long!

message 291: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Finnikin!

Yay! Love the first two books and own Never After and plan to read it when I get through my current pile.

message 294: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Amanda stick with the Book Thief. I listened to it on audio and after the first CD I was about to give up. Wait until Max shows up - it really picks up after that. What is it with these Aussie writers, (i.e. Jellicoe Road), making us wait half of the book to really get into them?
