I'm glad you liked the Host, Bekah! So did I. More than Twilight, I think.
It was definitely deeper than Twilight...I think though that she is just a great author...I can't help but devour her books.
I was surprised at how much more grown up, mature, her writing was for The Host, which was written before Breaking Dawn according to her website. So it wasn't just a matter of maturing as an author, she knows how to write for the YA audience as well as the adult!
Huh. Interesting info on The Host. I thought about reading it back when I read all the Twilight books but then never did...
I was not in a hurry to read it...especially when I found out it was about aliens...it was on my radar...but really really low on my radar. I'm glad joining a challenge brought it higher up on my to do list via Alycia!!!It was fascinating...the conflicts that the plot presented.
I'm not a fan of Twilight (and I read the 4 books) but I loved The Host! Loved it!
Does it have any steam in it? Yeah, I'm a hussy.

I know, I know, but I didn't miss it. Really.. Though the steam was good enough to make me wonder what kind of lovemaking scene she could write?
Maybe I'll read it one day. Honestly a book doesn't have to have a lot of steam if it is written very well and holds my interest. Like with the Twilight series, I was hooked on those books straight through to the end, and it had little steam in it.. but you're right, the little she DID write made me wonder what she's capable of writing! I want to read THAT book! :)
I remember a pretty interesting sex scene against a wall, Bekah. You don't remember that?
No, this a great book, Cheryl. I didn't miss the more graphic sex either.

I started The Host a long time ago and only made it around 50 pages into it. Later I was told I should have read the first 100 and I would have been addicted, figures! I'd like to try to read it again though because it does have really good reviews.
That's the truth, Megan. The first part isn't all that exciting. I stopped about 2 pages before it got exciting and my daughter laughed at me.
Luckily I didn't have that problem, I was pretty fascinated by the whole concept from the beginning. Which is weird for me because I'm not into sci-fi at all. Or at least I don't think I am....

about 75 pages in and LOVING it...very cute and funny. Molly is hilarious!!!
I loved this book! The scene where she throws her blue toy across the room was great

everywhere on GR's lately and had to request it from the library, I'm so weak!!! What did you girls think about it?
I'm suppose to start
on audio book next week at work because my coworker wants to read it too, but isn't a reader, so I get her audio books, lol. But I have owned the copy for a long time and it has been sitting home collecting dust. I may have to start reading it soon and listen to the audio book at work, I'm such a nerd, sigh....
Megan I really liked the Host. It kind of dragged at the start but then picked up speed and was very good.

, for the humor in both I believe. Since I recently read Bet Me and loved it, I thought I might like this one too. My to-read list is unnaturally/embarassingly huge, and then I go and read a lot of books that aren't even on my to-read list. Its a vicious cycle......

I've read Bet Me, though it was awhile ago, but I would say, so far(since I'm not done) Talk Me Down is better. I got about 120 pages in last night..or early this morning and was having such a good time, and it was so hot that I went to look up the rest of her books and (CONFESSION): I bought six of her books!! At like 2 this am... however...let me justify this...I bought the two left in the series online for 3.98 a piece and then the other four I bought for like 3.40 a piece and then one for 2.99....so that's my story and I'm stickin to it!
Where has Victoria been hiding all my life?!
PS: Now I hope this one book wasn't a fluke and I didn't just buy 6 crappy books. But honestly, she's talented...it can't be just confined to one book!
