Tom Foolery (tomfoolery) Nothing fucks your day up quite like having to tell two widows that they're going to lose their homes to foreclosure and there's nothing they can realistically do about it. I'm sure it fucked their day up even worse, but still. Plan for the future, people. I know, it's easier said than done, especially if you're having too much trouble making ends meet today to think beyond where the next couple of paychecks are going to go. I know, some things you can't plan for and sometimes even the things you plan for are worse than you anticipated. Plan anyway. If you're married / have kids, do some serious thinking about what your family will do if something happens to you-- terminal or otherwise. If you're single put away every dime you can for retirement 'cause kids, things ain't looking good for social security.

Just as much fun as widows:

You're 85 and 3 years ago refinanced the house that you've lived in for the last 50 years? Damn shame, but i can't do a thing for you...you don't have enough income even after accounting for food stamps and public assistance for utilities. Not only are you gonna be foreclosed on, but i honestly don't see how you can possibly afford to live anywhere.

The plant you worked in for 25 years just closed, and there's no jobs within 200 miles? That sucks. Still can't stop your house going to auction tomorrow.

You're in a nasty divorce and your soon to be ex won't sign the modification agreement on the loan that's in both your names? Bummer. After the foreclosure sale, that'll be just one more reason to hate the ex.

Your husband has terminal cancer and can't work and you can't pay the medical bills on just your salary, let alone the mortgage? Damn. Well, in between your hospital visits you might want to think about where you're gonna live after you lose the house.

Your ex fell behind on child support? Your spouse/kid/parent died/got sick/was in an accident? You were laid off/injured on the job / became chronically ill and lost most/all of your income? Well hey, let me compound the suck that your life has become, and tell you that you're going to lose your house, too. On the bright side, that guy pulling in 10 grand a month take home...that was out of work a couple of months but still managed to keep his kids' private school tuition current and never missed a payment on his two luxury cars? Yeah, he's gonna get a nice payment reduction on his mortgage. So it's not all bad news, right?

God, i hate my fucking job.

Check the listings daily.

Honestly though, this was intended as a "plan for what you can 'cause bad stuff happens" thread, more than a i hate my job thread. And i do get to help some people. Some of them, i even think deserve help.

Isn't this your fourth or fifth vacation this year? What are you, Australian?

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments If it makes you feel better Tom, I'm planning ahead. Well, the wife is making plans and I'm going along with them.

smetchie | 5729 comments Rusty, I think you're close. I never carry over any vacation days if I can help it.

smetchie | 5729 comments Alright. I'll bite. What the fuck is a Texas Tuesday?

Stina (stinalee) | 653 comments In Texas, foreclosure sales must take place on the first Tuesday of the month. I would imagine it's a pretty shitty day for some people.

Stina (stinalee) | 653 comments PS. I googled that. Tom could be referring to something else.

smetchie | 5729 comments I'm sure that's what he's referring to.
