Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yay! The only problem with transferring PDFs straight to Kindle is that the page fits the screen, so the writing can be quite small. So it might be easier to email it if you're worried about hurting your eyes. I'm not sure if you pay for emailing or not? I've never paid for anything from NetGalley, yet.

Diane U (djuseless) Love on Assignment by Cara Lynn James, the sequel to Love on a Dime, is currently available on Net Galley. This book also has the kindle feature available!!!

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I have Love on a Dime but not Love on Assignment. I need to get reading the first now now!

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments I got Love on a Dime for free. What is Love on Assignment? Is it a sequel to Love on a Dime?

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, I also got Love on a Dime for free from Amazon! I'm so excited that Thomas Nelson put freebies on the UK site now too :) Will look into their books on NetGalley.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Has anyone figured out how to transfer Adobe Digital Editions files to Kindle? I have three books that aren't regular PDFs and can only be read as Adobe Digital Editions, but I can't transfer them to my Kindle :(

message 59: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Rachel, we cannot read Adobe Digital Editions on our kindles. That is the same format the libraries use to lend ebooks out. It just doesn't work! Boohoo!!

message 60: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Boo, that sucks :(

message 61: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I don't know what just made me look at Net Galley but I am super happy that I did!!!

A Time to Heal by Barbara Cameron is now available! Go get it everyone!!!!!

message 62: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yay! Will check that out.

Someone I spoke to today said that she found a plug-in that can convert the protected PDFs to MOBI format so you can view them on your Kindle. Will keep you updated if I find out more about this.

message 63: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Oh please do!!!

message 64: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) The fiction editor from the new blog that I'm writing for gave me these instructions. I haven't tried them but I'll let you know how they go:

You'll download the book like you normally would and open it in ADE. Once the book is open, press control-i and that will show you were the actual .pdf is located on your harddrive. You'll need to download and install a free program called Calibre. After that's installed they'll need to download Tools_v3.2 (http://www.datafilehost.com/download-...). Unzip the file and there is a readme.txt with instructions on how to add the plugin into Calibre. Once the plugin is installed, open the .pdf in Calibre and convert it to MOBI. The Calibre program has the option to send a book to your Kindle. Do that and you're set. If you have any problems with it, let me know. Of course all these instructions were for a PC. If you have a Mac, I don't know if they will still work.

message 65: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I am having trouble getting it to work. I tried it a few days ago and am not sure what I am doing wrong. If you get it to work let me know!

message 66: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It helped to READ the directions. *blush* I am so excited!!! Can't wait to do the rest I have!!

message 67: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Okay, I got it to work! Thanks for the great instructions Rachel!

Yes, it is, thanks, Diane! I just mentioned that over the weekend on www.AmishHearts.com over the weekend!

message 69: by Angie (new)

Angie | 9 comments This is a wonderful treasure. I signed up and was approved for The Journey, An Amish Love, Who's My Shelter, A Time To Heal, The Knitting Diaries, 14 Secrets to Better Parenting, and Starting Your Career as a Freelance Writer. I am so excited. This gives me an opportunity to read authors I wouldn't normally buy. I did notice on several that I downloaded a badge across the top right corner that says 60 days. I was wondering if I had 60 days to read them and then they disappear from my nook??? Better not delay off to reading I go.

message 70: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Yeah Angie, for Adobe Digital Reader they do limit it to 60 days, so that is all you have to read it. Next time I recommend not downloading the book until you intend to start reading it as the countdown doesn't begin until you download the book. :)

message 71: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Despite the fact that I've given you guys these instructions, I can't actually get them to work myself :P

message 72: by Angie (new)

Angie | 9 comments It says on there page that we have 60 days however we can go bback and download again as long as the book is still available.

message 73: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Nevermind, got it to work now! I was overcomplicating things :P

I've got a question... what do you do when you've downloaded a book, thinking you're gonna like it, and find that you can't stand it?

message 76: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (goodreadscombarbara_beers) | 1819 comments Mod
Did anyone else get an email from NetGalley that the kindle button should return in March?

Can't wait!

message 77: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Barbara,

I did get that email. If I hate a book I usually just select that I am declining to review the book. I tend to not write reviews unless I finish the book. I haven't had any problems with declining books and later having my book review requests granted.

I'm the same as Camille - you're allowed to decline a book if you don't enjoy it or if you don't finish it. According to the FAQ you don't have to review every book you request. Sometimes you'll request a boo and it'll turn out to be not your type of book so it's only fair that you should be allowed to not review it!

And yay for the Kindle button coming back next month!

message 79: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Yeah I got the email. I have declined a few books as well. .

Now there is also a way to download books to your android phone. If I would have known this I might not have bought my kindle but its okay because I still love it! lol

message 81: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) NetGalley have some new books from Thomas Nelson, including Lilly's Wedding Quilt by Kelly Long and Plain Proposal by Beth Wiseman!

message 82: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Yes I put in my request for both of those!! I am hopeful I get them!

I got approved for both of them, but you have to wait 30 days before the release of the book before you publish your review.

message 85: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Ugh I hope I do. With Thomas Nelson now on Netgalley I don't think I will run out of things to read any time soon between them and Barbour Publishing I have like 20 books I want to read! I hope I get approved soon for a few of the Nelson books I am drooling to read them!! Can I just say I LOVE blogging for books!! lol

I think I will just write it on my blog and then set it to publish on the date I'm allowed. A scheduled post, I guess.

message 90: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (goodreadscombarbara_beers) | 1819 comments Mod
I didn't know you could schedule a post. I'll have to look into that.

message 91: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, sounds good! Thanks for explaining, Lorie :) I would have just stuck a post-it to my desk to remind me when to post my review :P

Thomas Nelson STILL hasn't got back to my about the reviews, which is odd as apparently I'm on their "accredited reviewers" list as I'm writing for The Christian Manifesto now. I rerequested them in case it just didn't go through the first time. Anyway, I already have plenty of books to read for now!

message 92: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) If you missed What the Heart Sees: A Collection of Amish Romances by Kathleen Fuller, it's now on NetGalley!

Also, yay, finally approved!

message 93: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Yeah I am approved too! Its like christmas with 5 new great sounding books! Yeah!!

message 94: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I have FAR too many books now! And with my Uni reading, I'm going to do nothing but read this semester, it seems. Of course, that's lovely, but it means I may have no time to do laundry or vacuum :P

message 95: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments O I know I have over 20 review books right now! :p
