Mama'sGurl115 they think they have more than one wife...that they worship mormon and not jesus and god, stuff like that. but mormon is just a nickname. the full name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" and that's what they really r....it just takes longer to say. lol :)

message 5: by Carlie (new)

Carlie I had mormons come over to convert me. The girls were nice but I'm sorry I can't believe in 7 heavens or however many they say there are and I can't get over the fact that they used to believe that black people were cursed.

message 6: by Mama'sGurl115 (new)

Mama'sGurl115 USED to!!?? they never said anything like that to me and my foster mother is mormon. That's the past k? everyone makes mistakes. and there r three heavens. they are ranked. the best one is were you can be with god and jesus and the holy ghost. the second only jesus and HG. and the last only HG. then there's outer darkness...with satan. they believe god did this because it's sorta unfair to go just to heaven or hell. people all make mistakes and there's always some good in them. just because they've made some mistaes in their life doesn't mean they should go straight to hell. lord knows i've made mine.

message 7: by Mama'sGurl115 (new)

Mama'sGurl115 tomorrow i'm becoming a mormon....not just because my mom (foster mom) is one....but because i believe it's true. scratch that...i KNOW it's true. when i asked god to forgive me of all the sins i ever did...the hurt i feltinside went away. when i asked him to look over my mother (in REHAB) i felt comforted, i knew he was listening. u can think what u want...but i KNOW what they say is true.

Dave Russell The 7 heavens comes from Hinduism I believe.

message 10: by Lisa (new)

Lisa MzzzzB, my opinion on Mormonism is largely irrelevant here, but I'm glad you've got a good relationship with your foster mom.

message 11: by Mama'sGurl115 (new)

Mama'sGurl115 how is that irrelevant? it's in the world all the time and i hate it. isn't that the point of this group. plz explain lisa.....and thnks

message 12: by Shad (new)

Shad Does becoming a Mormon forbid you from using upper case letters? Oh, and when you convert, do you have to go out and buy the special magic undies? Or does Jesus send you a pair in the mail?

message 13: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Irrelevant because my opinion on Mormonism isn't all that different from my (atheist's) opinion on most organized religion. But I'm all for whatever's helpful to folks, and I try not to go all militant-atheist at people unless they're trying to tell me I'm wrong.

I'm actually pretty well informed about LDS. My high school was across the street from the Mormon church, and a bunch of my friends were Mormon (and one very opinionated, vocal ex-Mormon...). But because I believe in neither god(s) nor religion, I try not to comment on other people's choices and beliefs in that area.

message 14: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill Actually mzzzzzzzzzwatchamaholic, I've no beef with your soon to adopted faith. I wish you all the best. I say that because all those I've ever known who were part of LDS church were good folk. Heck, I even shared bong hits with some of em, back in the day. That's no lie.

message 15: by Carlie (new)

Carlie Go ahead and join your cult. You're quite free to do so. I actually prefer the cult of the Church of Christ cause they're so nice and they do stuff together A LOT. I just can't get past the "our church is the only true church" bs. But everyone says that right?

Reads with Scotch Look there is something wrong with anyone that thinks having more then one wife is a good idea. Trust me one is MORE then enough.

I could even over look that multi-wife thing if they stopped roping little children into it. Yes I understand that those are off shoots of the core religion. But you need to understand that those off shoots are actually the founding factions.

Mormons are like Jews, they own allot of things, and treat their "church as a business enterprise, I don't think they should have tax free status.

No Offence meant to anybody that is Jewish, I didn't mean to compare you with Mormons.

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Actually, Nick, all churches are eligible for 501(c)3 status. Not just Mormon and Jewish temples.

message 22: by Rusty (new)

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments Well, Mzzzzzzzzzzzzz, it looks like you and some others will be leaving soon, so let me put in my two cents. I personally can say nothing negative about Mormons. If for no other reason, than the fact that I dated one. She was a sweet girl and one of the best human beings that I’ve ever known. So if that’s an example of what the Mormon church turns out, you’re making a good decision. And Mormons make excellent desserts, so you have that to look forward to.

From what I understand the FLDS church has just about as much to do with the LDS church as the Methodists or Lutherans have to do with the Catholic church. When the U.S. government outlawed polygamy, the leaders of the main Mormon church abolished it. Mormons are very big on obeying the laws of the land. That’s one of the reasons that recruiters from organizations such as the FBI and CIA actively seek them out. Less likely to have skeletons in the closet, I guess.

And yes Nick, one wife is more than sufficient. Truer words.....

So good luck, Mzzzzzzzz. And personally, I would rather leave on my own terms than be kicked out. Just a word to the wise.
