Roberta | 6 comments I just bought The War That Killed Achilles: The True Story of Homer's Iliad and the Trojan War, a historical review of the Iliad. Has anybody actually made it through the actual Iliad? I always meant to and I am an English major so I guess I should.

message 55: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I did, Roberta, but it was in HS when I had a teacher to guide me through it! I liked the story but I'm not sure I'd enjoy it so much if I read it on my own

Beverly | 194 comments I'm reading James Michener's book Chesapeake. I just started and can tell already I'm going to love it. It takes place over several centuries. I'm not always in the mood for long, detailed books, but when I am it's like licking on a all day sucker.

Kristina Salem's Lot scared the liver out of me when I read it many years ago. I remember throwing it across the room at a particularly scary moment.

Janice (jamasc) | 60011 comments Which app do you use on your iPad? I've got kindle, ibooks, and kobo.

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

I have ibooks, Kindle, Stanza and B&N Nook for the ipad apps, but I primarily use ibooks, and Stanza, but for me, ibooks gives the best reading experience over all. I also use ibooks and Stanza on my iphone when I'm away from my ipad and want to read. I love my ipad! I've spent so much money on ebooks since I bought my ipad.

message 91: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60011 comments I can't get B&N Nook here in Canada. I like Kindle the best because it offers the lowest prices (iBooks is the highest) and it has a night feature where the screen is black with white print. I can read in bed and it doesn't annoy my husband. He groans when I come to bed with a paperback. "Can't you read your iPad thingy?" LOL!

I love my iPad too. I have audiobooks on it as well which I listen to on my commute. I loved it so much I bought an iPhone and a MacPro.

message 92: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow! How funny, because along with my ipad and iPhone, I also have a Mac book Pro. My daughter and son-in-law also have iPads and iphones and my daughter has a Mac book Pro. I haven't tried an audio book yet because I enjoy reading so much on the ipad!

message 93: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60011 comments I'm still in the learning curve of shifting from PC to Mac on the MacBook Pro, but then I haven't spent much time playing with it. There's a tutorial that I want to follow. Once I get used to it, I'm sure it will be smooth sailing. I recently bought the audiobook Remarkable Creatures and downloaded it to the Mac. But when I sync'd my iPad, it didn't transfer over, so I need to figure out how to do that too.

I guess I'm not really off topic here because I just bought the MacBook. :)

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

Make sure in iTunes, u checked the box, sync audio books under books(at the top in itunes) after u have clicked on your device
