I know what you mean about revisiting a book you first didn't care for. I've done that, too!

No problem!

But then when the invite goes out, does it say that it's starting on the ending date?

BUILD MY OWN CHALLENGE CHALLENGE
Duration: October 1 - October 31
0/6 completed
Read ONE book that I have owned for at least TEN years.
1. TBD
Read TWO books that I have owned for at least FIVE years.
2. TBD
3. TBD
Read THREE books that I have owned for at least ONE year.
4. TBD
5. TBD
6. TBD

I'm thinking I'll do something like this:
Read 2 books that have been sitting on my shelf for quite some time.
1.
2.
Read 2 books that I have recently purchased.
1.
2.

Well as you know, I have been reading books I own and not buying any since May, so I think I deserve a treat! :)

Of course, I never thought it!

Wow! What makes you keep them for that long? I mean, why don't you get rid of them? Ten years is a really long time to have something sitting around taking up space when you aren't getting any enjoyment out of them!
I've read the last three out of that list!

Same answer as Anja's. I hang on to them because I might read them eventually. My reading taste has changed through the years and I find myself reading books today that I wouldn't be caught dead reading years ago, so hope springs eternal for all the oldies collecting dust in my bookshelves.

That makes sense! I've kept clothes for a few years hoping to fit back into it. (damn babies are ruining me!) I just can't imagine keeping it for so long. I would have given up years ago!

1. Dracula
2. Frankenstein
3. an author I've not read before: The Green Mile by Stephen King
4. A book that is released in October
5. an ebook
6. tbd
7. tbd
8. tbd
9. tbd
10. tbd

My mom tells me it's not horror, and it's nothing like the movies. She taught English for over 30 years, she should know.

Mary Shelley wrote it long before sci-fi was invented. I think the book is much more about the doctor than about his creation.

I guess I'll find out pretty soon. Is there anyone out there who has actually read Frankenstein besides my Mom?

1. Re-read something first read more than 25 years ago: Dracula by Bram Stoker
2. Try one recommended by Mom: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
3. An author I've not read before: The Green Mile Book Box Set by Stephen King
4. A book that is released this October: Styx's Storm(Breeds #22) by Lora Leigh
5. An ebook, perhaps Size Matters by Stephanie Julian
6. Something utterly silly tbd
7. Something with Ten or October in the title tbd
8. Something with a Halloween reference in the Title or Theme tbd
9. A paranormal romance tbd
10. Something referring to a disguise or costume in the Title or Theme tbd, perhaps Angels and Demons by Dan Brown which has been under my night table for a while.

I'd welcome suggestions on my tbd's... please weigh in with your opinion.

Frankenstein is AMAZING! It's NOTHING at all like any of the movies, which focus on the monster aspect. The book is NOT horror or sc-fi in the way we understand it, just good fiction about a creature and his relationship with his creator (BTW...Frankenstein is not the monster but the doctor who created him.) There were parts that had me crying my eyes out.

Dina!! Please read [book:It Had to Be You|73070]! I just recommended that book in RRRC's pick it for me challenge. I loved it!

Actually I've only read one other book by Celeste Bradley (Fallen) and I wasn't really impressed. If I remember correctly the heroine kept on getting on my nerves but as I look around loads of other people have given it high ratings, actually makes me wanna re-read - haaah, like I have time, my TBR pile is overflowing already. The reason I'm back to Celeste is that I stumbled on To Wed a Scandalous Spy, liked the concept of the book and decided to give the whole series a try. And lets be honest if I like the series I'm so gonna take another look at Fallen :)
