I remember reading a while back on a CV discussion on another board "If ethan and merit don't stay together, I'm gonna just kill myself" and I was like . . . ummm. Not funny? lol I mean we make jokes around here all the time, but at least we make funny jokes ;)

I'm probably a fairly obsessive fan when I really get into something, but that's just crazy talk. I wonder how authors feel reading something like that. No wonder they avoid fan forums!
I was on a Night Huntress forum and people spelled "with" as "wit" and wouldn't write out complete sentences or capitalize things. I was just like...this is practically unintelligible!
Oh god, I HATE that! Now anyone can make a typo or a grammar error (god knows I do) but there's a world of difference between someone making a little mistake and someone who doesn't care enough to even try and write properly.The web is international and many people reading comments aren't native English speakers. I have no idea how they manage to decipher some of the crap that's written in some forums.
I have to say, in my experience, Goodreads is actually not too bad on this front (although maybe it's just the groups I frequent!)
I'm not a fan of people who get all fan girlish. You should have seen the KMM chat--these girls are all crazy. (And then KMM gets all surprised that these girls are all pigeon holing her characters--why are you surprised dude?) The spelling and grammar was worse than atrocious, if that is possible.
I kind of want to shake them and go "that's not the point!!!" I really don't like girls like that. I especially dislike women who hate a female character in a story because she's with a male character they like. I mean, really? Just because you don't like the pairing doesn't make her a slut, come on. As for KMM's fans...people are dead set on Ryo/Dani and coming up with all kinds of crazy justifications for her age. Ick.

I hate fangirls... They drive me crazy! I know, I make some jokes about Mircea licking my feet and there are topics I'm very passionate about but really... Some people take it to far. Worst are those who start the inquisition because you dare to criticize something and still think they are better fans.
As for the Dani/Ryo pairing... I know we all like different things and as much as I am against them as a possible couple, I do know there are people who like them together. But seriously, they justify everything. I don't care if it's fiction and I know she went through more than the average 14 year old but really... Being okay with (view spoiler) But some people want a HEA no matter what and would excuse any behavior.
I'm with you all the way, Sarah. Sure, we all joke about the characters, sometimes inappropriately, but that's because we know they're just books. I can't see anyone here jumping down someone else's throat for not liking what they said.And as far as Dani and Ryo go, I don't think there's any way to justify his actions. It's what makes me dislike Ryodan so much. Yeah, maybe Dani's mature for her age but Ryodan should know better and his behavior is inexcusable. I think people miss Mac and Barrons' relationship. They've decided that Dani/Ryo will give that back to them.

As for the Dani/Ryo thing, I don't know how any one can justify some of the things that he's done to her. I don't know why any one would even want that pairing. All I know is, I wouldn't be comfortable with Dani's HEA happening at the end of the Fever World books.
I don't know if I want Dani to end up with anyone. I'd be happy if she reconciled with Mac and found a good home to become a part of. I just want her to have a family.

Claire/Mello--From today's mish mashy q&a, I think that is actually what KMM is heading towards. She said something like Mac had a lot of love, but no strength, and Dani has a lot of strength but no love.
I would be completely okay with it ending that way.
I have tons of fan girl moments. Mention Pritkin, Trent, Lor, Christian, Tybalt, Anyan, Bruiser, Curran . . . I mean really I like all the fictional hunks. But it's like I rarely make it all about . . . the HEA. The only time I got pissed about HEA "with the wrong person" was because of the writing/plot it didn't make sense! It was bad writing that got it there. Besides--it's UF, the romance is NOT central.
Dude all that hating on Jo? It's like, she was sheltered and probably never had any guy touch her before Ryo--of course she's making "bad decisions". She is acting like TSTL, but it kind of fits because of what has happened.

I read an interview she had with Charlaine Harris and someone else, where she said that she had fans asking her for contact details for characters from her books, and then getting really pissy when she wouldn't hand over the info... even after she explained that they aren't real people.
I love my imagination, and we get on really well.
However, we (me, myself and I) also accept that some things shall never be...
And as much as I'd LOOOOVE a night with Pritkin, If he ever did magically appear in front of me, he'd probably have to help me scrape my jaw off the floor and possibly perform CPR.
As for the Dani/Ryo thing... haven't read them.. but from the posts, went ahead and viewed the spoilers anyway, and .... EEEWW!

I don't want this to turn into a Fever thread but I defended Jo in some of the threads during the chat. I personally don't care about her but the hate (and I'm sure in most cases because people want Dani with Ryo) is just too much.

The way some authors talk about their characters is definitely a little odd. Sometimes KMM seems rather full of herself when she talks about her process. But it's also creepy when people get so obsessed with characters too. I just want to tell people to calm down.I really don't like all the Jo hate. People are picking on her for the glitter and the haircut and basically calling her a dumb slut- their only problem is that they don't like that Jo is paired with Ryodan. It wouldn't bother me so much if people didn't do it in real life, too.
@Jax I've heard about people acting that way over characters. That's just taking things a bit far.@Sarah I'm crazy, but I'm not that crazy, so I know how to be fangirl without driving the folks I talk about books about completely nuts.
As far as Jo, while I think she's blinded by the awesome that is Ryodan, can you really blame her? A man like that pays attention to you when you've likely never had much attention before? I can't blame her for being sucked in. I won't feel completely bad for her if he drops her and she acts like an idiot about it, though. She says she can handle it, but I'm not so sure. If it turns out that she can, I'll be proud of her.

I think it's a lot of fun to talk about what we'd do with our favourite characters because it's fun escapism and most of us need a little bit of now and then (and I envy you if you don't!) but that's a world away from this kind of batshit crazy behaviour. It seems like whenever I read history books (factual, not fiction) about the Elizabethan age, they always make a big thing about how smelly London would have been. So that's probably the real Marlowe. A smelly dude, probably with bad teeth and head lice. But hey, at least he didn't have plague. I just can't get into guys with plague.
