Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I'm in D.C. with my family back in New Jersey. Jersey is getting hit hard with the hurricane turned noreaster. The weather is supposed to get pretty bad here, too. Our campus outside the city already lost power.

message 202: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments All of you guys.. Best wishes. Hopefully it'll make a story for later, and nothing more.

I have family in NY and they're staying there... apparently they also gathered hurricane stuff. My boss's daughter moved to Pennysylvania.

@Duane - Reading books sounds like a plan :) Defo better than TV.

message 203: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Well, the worst of the storm passed us and we seemed to have gotten a big fat nothing. Not that I'm complaining, because I'm very happy that nothing bad happened. Apparently, it must have affected the rest of D.C. though because classes were cancelled again.

message 204: by Arushi (last edited Oct 30, 2012 12:11AM) (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Thats good Claire that you're okay (and most of DC). Hopefully the storm will blow away without much incident.

Good luck with Weight Watchers, Duane and Zeenat. My father lost a lot of weight thanks to it but then he ate "normal" again and yeah... That was it. LOL

Welcome back, Mello! I took good care of Illium. :-P

I agree with Arushi, I hope the storm will pass away without causing any more big damage.

message 206: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Oh yeah.. Welcome back Mello! Here you can have Myrnin back *thrusts him at Mello* He was just visiting for a little while.

*whistles innocently*

message 207: by [deleted user] (new)

The storm passed through the DC area with no big fanfare - the winds and rain died down around 2am. Of course, now a lot of people get the day off because everyone announced closures last night when it was kickin'. Me? I go to work everyday.

@Sarah - I did WW before, went from 180 lbs to 155 lbs - everyone thought I had cancer because I was so gaunt; shallow cheeks, loose pants, baggy shirts, you know, skinny. I said screw that and started eating again. The truth is I feel bad when I'm heavy so screw it - people can think what they want - I'm dumping the weight.

That's the right attitude!

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments Our office is closed again today, but my manager called me last night and asked me to work from home. I so don't wanna. Nothing much happened around here weather wise, so I know I'll be back in the office tomorrow. Blah.

*sharpens blades made just for use on Sarah and Arushi*

message 210: by [deleted user] (new)

My office was closed, too, but I had to work from home. Somehow there is no justice in the fact that some don't have to work and some, like those who are in IT, have no choice in it. No big deal, I would be bored to death anyway; I was off for far too long for my own good.

message 211: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Duane - I know what you mean. We don't get anything off except Sundays, while India has like SO MANY holidays. But I guess its okay.. coz I like my work, and we're a small firm so we need to work hard to keep our edge. Plus my boss works more than I ever do.

@Mello - I'll come back when you've mellowed down :P *runs away*

message 212: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Sitting at work and drinking Mojitos. I thought it was totally worth sharing. The Mojitos are really really good.. and i am slightly tipsy... I like my workplace a lot today :)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Now that's a great job!! I've only really had drinkiepoos at work on the last day before finishing up for Christmas. It sure makes work a lot more fun LOL!

message 216: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Did you know starbucks has super size drinks now? Tenti? or something. They messed up my order, so they gave me a supersized passion iced team lemonade . . lol

message 217: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Yea, a Trenta. They came out with it like a year ago at least. A giant iced coffee is my preferred drink of choice when studying for finals.

message 218: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Trenta . . . ha ha sorry my friend is on BMS and we were talking about Trent ROFL

message 219: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Oh, Trent. I can't wait to see more of him!

message 220: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments So I just read somewhere (and where I can't remember) that choosing between vampires and werewolves is choosing between necrophilia and beastility . . . LOL

See why I choose faery?

I guess I'm the kind of sick puppy who likes necrophilia AND bestiality. But not at the same time, so that's OK, right?? ;)

message 225: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments so no Anita Blake orgies for you? ;)

Maybe I should change my title to "Lady Marlowe, Team Necrophilia" though I think that might scare off new members LOL!

message 229: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I suppose fae can be considered aliens--they are from a different world ;) I'm Xenophilic! Which is quite ironic . . . Zeena the Xenophilic.

Those two above (Cheech and Chong!)would be insulting to the aliens! Might start a global conflict.

So when you say "Those two above (Cheech and Chong!)" are you talking about Edward & Jacob or me and Zeenat LMAO!!

message 232: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm talking about Edward and his nemesis - I'd never be so rude as to insult you and Zeenat; at least not that you'd know of! LOL!

message 233: by Lannister (new)

I think we can say Bella got the man she deserved in Twilight, and leave it at that!

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments This might seem odd but since it's the random thoughts thread....

What the hell is it with women and pirates? I feel like I'm missing something...

message 235: by Arushi (last edited Nov 02, 2012 02:23AM) (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments So.. very nice guys :)
Necrophilia, Bestiality and Xenophilia.

I wonder... what about angels? (Demons has already been asked.) But I think that is covered in Bestiality.. or would that be Aviality?

@Claire - I think its the modern take on the successful caveman, which is not that modern now.

message 236: by Jax (new)

Jax | 831 comments *rofl*
Oh my!! Some people are just determined to take the fun out of everything! ;D
Clearly, from their point of view, I'm some kind of sex fiend! LMAO! **Shakes head and sighs** my poor poor hubby!
I'm on all of the above teams! lol
necrophilia, beastiality, Xenophilia... oh wait... Aviality on counts if I'm allowed the fallen too! :D
(Hey, I'm a Libran, we don't like to make choices like these! LMAO)

You like Captain Jack Sparrow? Excellent! But he is thankfully nothing like the Pirates in the books.. so I don't think he counts..

Eye patches ftw!

message 246: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Zeenat I was very exciting to see the holiday cups. While this isn't my favorite weather, it's definitely my favorite time of year. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday.

Still don't get the pirate thing though. They have bad teeth and scurvy and probably smell. Ick. *wrinkles nose*

Fun facts: today is the Day of the Dead both in Mexico and Italy. Do any of you guys come from a culture that celebrates this?

Today I found a postcard in my mailbox from the Sheriff's Department, informing me that a sex offender has moved in to the neighborhood. He moved in with the people right next door to me!!!

I googled the court records and found at age 27 he "sexually battered a person over the age of 12 and used a weapon". He was sentenced to 40 years and now he is out on parole after 20 years in prison.
I am not happy.

message 250: by [deleted user] (new)

@Enjee - If you really want to be shocked look at the State web site for sex offenders (all states have them as the offenders must register) - I looked in our area and there are so many dots on the map that it looks like a Christmas tree.

It's a sad state of affairs when our children aren't safe.
