I've looked at that too Duane. Lots and lots of dots........and I live in a very safe city. I opted to not look at it again. My work experience has taught me there are a hell of a lot more crazy people than I ever realized or wanted to know.

My Random Thought for today...**cackles evilly and GRINS**
Expecting loads of Hate mail, cos I simply couldn't keep my proverbial mouth shut...
It really bugs me when ppl who don't enjoy books for whatever reason, then try to use big words they don't understand to justify their dislike in an open forum where their opinion may or may not affect other readers decisions on whether or not to try it.(why not just say it wasn't your cuppa a tea??)
So, I just HAD to correct their misinterpretation of the word chosen...
**is going to run away like a coward now and avoid the fall out!! MWAHAHAHA!!**
**side note - it wasn't anyone from this group ;)**

ROFL! That's awesome
Every time yoga teacher says "perpendicular" and really means "parallel" I have to fight back to urge to correct her. It drives me crazy!!
Why use a big word if you are going to use it correctly - what's the fun in that? LOL!
@Jax - LMAO!!! So so true! My random thought for the day is more related to the convo before this one tho (started by Enjee and the neighbor she's gained)... and kinda serious.
I found this link.. and read some of the posts and realized they were scarily accurate. So much so.. that I realized they had my reactions nailed down pat. But at least I feel like now I m better prepared, which is sad, coz I should not have to think that.
http://herbsandhags.blogspot.co.uk/
I think its more than a thought.. but it deserved to be shared.
@ Arushi - that is truly depressing, while at the same time highly aggravating.Ppl are simply becoming more and more desensitized to what used to be unthinkable behavior.
And I honestly believe the reason for this are the people who use abuse as an excuse to "get out of trouble." Making it even harder for actual victims to dredge up the courage to report it, for fear that they'll be labelled with the 'imposters.'
Thankfully I myself have never had to endure such treatment, and couldn't possibly imagine the emotional or psychological pain. But I've had the misfortune to know a few of the imposters... And honestly, they make me angrier than the actual fiends who commit such crimes!
Took me an hour to vote today. 55 minutes standing in various lines and 5 minutes to fill out my ballot. My feet hurt. In my swing state of Florida, every vote counts so I can say I did my part.
Well done Enjee! I hope everyone else did too.I applied for a postal vote a few years back, cos I am that lazy! It used to be, many moons ago, that only if you lived abroad or were disabled or infirm could you get a postal vote in the UK. But I guess with election turn-outs lowering all the time, they broadened it to include anyone who wanted it. It suits me fine!
I was in line for 45 minutes - I guess VA is a swing state as well. Hope my vote makes a difference.
Holy crap, I'm amazed you guys have to wait so long!! No wonder people can't be bothered turning out. Even when I did used to vote in person, I don't think I ever waited more than a few minutes, with only a few people in front of me. We do have a shit ton of polling stations though. Most primary schools get closed for the day and they use their gymnasium/assembly hall for the voting. Is that not the case in the US? Is it more centralised?
There polling places all over the state. I've never been sure if schools were closed or not during the day so people could vote. Some schools are polling places, but not all of them are, so I don't think they close them. I don't remember not being in school on election day, anyway.Mostly, it depends on the time of day that go as to how long you'll be in line. The last couple of times we had elections (the last presidential election and the last state election), I took the day off so I could go in the middle of the day and not have to wait hours on end. I still had to wait, but not long enough to really matter. I used to go after work and would get stuck in line for 3-4 hours. It's why I voted early. Still got stuck in line for 4 hours, though.
Jeezus, I cannot even imagine having to wait four hours to vote! That's a nightmare. Well doubly well done Mello for voting!!
Thanks =]I try to vote whenever there's an election. I don't understand the people that won't do it. Especially people my age.
I sent in my absentee ballot about 2 weeks ago. Apparently NJ won't count them unless the vote is close. Which is absolute crap.Basically I dove into a book as soon as I got out of the shower and only recently surfaced. There is much nail-biting going on.
Wow! I am impressed with you guys, especially you Mello. I just heard that Obama will be the president again. I wonder if that is how it is. I think he is better than the other options.
Speaking as one of the only Republicans on my campus.....tonight sucks. I will self-medicate tomorrow morning with a peppermint mocha for breakfast. Thank God I'm going home for the weekend!
@Claire - I understand, but the mocha sounds good :) My random thought: http://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/20...
Has any of you guys heard of this? Planning to come? last year was the first time I attended and it was a lot of fun.

You're so right. Its just ridiculous when people with real issues get slanted because of fakes.
I also don't like it that guys have a lot of the authority when it comes to women. Its not that they're all evil or anything, but a lot of time they just don't get it. Sigh.
With respect Duane, I think politics is a bit of a hot potato and many of us have strong opinions, but I don't think this group is the place for them. I don't want arguments breaking out over political differences, because that's what always happens. Hope you understand.
I was simply responding to a previous post that made a statement. I'll refrain from posting anymore random thoughts as I'm not sure what may be construed as offensive, and I have removed the post in question.

Or, of course... one of my hubby's Hypothesis... ( I have no idea what the plural for that it...)
The little dude chiseling out the calendar decided he'd done enough, and just decided someone else could take over... but of course, no one did... ;D
Duane, I don't want you to stop posting your random thoughts, but Jax has nailed it. If we avoid politics and religion, I'm sure we can manage just fine. I've watched too many discussions in other forums descend into nastiness over subjects like this and I feel it's better to avoid. I hope you can see my POV here.Of course, vampire politics is fine!
Jax, LOL, I like your hubby's theory! I'm highly amused by the fuss over the Mayan prophecies. I'm still waiting for the end of the world that was predicted by Nostradamus in 1999!
LOL - His mind just works like that...And we can have Long discussion over various subjects similar to this.
Another theory, is that they mistranslated, and it will actually only be 12 Dec 2021... LOL
Not to mention the various hypothesis on precisely what is meant by "end of the world" - cos these days, that could be any number of things...
Technology ends... we get hit by a meteor, which for some reason our little genius astronomers just missed.
everything turns on its head when the poles shift...
Oh the endless possibilities...LOL
Actually, I should post his numerous random thoughts here...hmmm... there's a thought... LOL
LOL, yeah, you should post his thoughts. I love stuff like this!!Maybe 21 Dec 2012 is when ... vampires come out the closet and admit to being real! (This theory is every bit as realistic as some of the others I've seen floating around!)
At least if the world doesn't end, I'll get to see all The Hobbit movies, cos what could be more important than that? Oh, and the final Wheel of Time book!
Damn Straight!!It's definitely NOT allowed to end before we get to read the end of Jordan's Story!!!
I will be sooo mad!
(but hey, you never know, perhaps hell can get an illegal copy for me....)
;D
Random, but I love this website. All clichés/plot devices can be found there.
This is the page for Cassie and Dory.
I love
Chick Magnet: Mircea.

Apparently, they found other Mayan calendars that extend past 2012 a while ago. People just conveniently ignore this fact.and it's snowing at home, so I'll hopefully see some this weekend!

Oh noes, not TV Tropes!! Well there goes another three hours of my life LOL! :D
Heading to TV Tropes. Oh and my random thought... Though we've had this discussion before somewhere. We'll just bug our authors for the books in hell/heaven. The key would be to end up in the same place as them (and to move around if they're not all in the same place.)
I hope you haven't made any plans Arushi, cos once you start clicking around in TV Tropes, you tend to lose large chunks of time!!

Only just caught up with this post. Wow! I had to do a double take on the original article - The Guardian? and 2012? I'm quite shocked that Alex Needham feels blackmail/coercion of a 16 yr old to do a naked photoshoot was somehow justified because of fashion and a 'sense of the times'.
and Duane... come back I enjoy reading your random thoughts!
@Anna - Yes. Its quite surprising when something like this crops up in a time when people should know better.
Okay, so this is an amalgamation of many things. Bear with me (not that I am giving much choice!) IA's latest post said, today is 'tooting your own horn day' and they proceeded to explain that they were asking for votes for Gunmental Magic in the GR awards. Cool!
So then when I blogged about vampires today (today being Bram Stoker 165th B'day and all) I decided to promote my blog too coz goddamnit I want more likes!!! Comments would be even better, but I am marginally realistic today.
So *honk honk* http://inkedblack.wordpress.com/2012/...
Sarah ♥ Vutch forever ♥ wrote: "Yay! Pimp the blog! :-)"I know! I got 6 likes and one comment (the other's my reply so it doesn't count).
I make a good blog pimp! Or my blog is a good ho?? Either way *shrugs*
Love them! I liked the where's waldo one. That's awesome. I wonder why for a lot of these . . . ? Personal story of tragedy? childhood . . . I love dreaming up life for people LOL
There was some amazing art in some of those, but I think my favourite was actually the Narnia lamppost one. I often tend to like design that's fairly minimalist, and that one really appealed cos it was such a simple tattoo but so immediately recognisable. As to why someone would get tattoos like these, well is it really any different from getting a tattoo of your favourite band or whatever? It's probably better actually, cos in 20 years time, you'll probably still fondly remember a book from childhood, whereas you might hate what the band has become LOL!
lol Oh I just like finding out personal stories of people and their tattoos . . . it always is a good story!
