Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I don't think I've ever tried lavender flavoured anything. Unless that's the colour of them LOL!

message 1702: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments No, that's the flavor. I grow lavender in my backyard. Since I used the leaves of the plant, the batter is actually yellow-green. The batter itself tasted great, so hopefully the baked muffin will also be tasty.

I've been seeing a lot of lavender things on Pinterest, especially paired with lemon. Since I love lemon flavored things, I wanted to try it.

message 1703: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments I used to work for a candle factory that made hand made candles with essential oils ... lavender was my favorite scent. I loved the days we poored that scent since I smelled like it that day.

What is dumb is those products out there that say they are lavender scented and don't smell anything like actual lavender.

I don't really have a sense of taste anymore, but what does it taste like?

lemon flavored stuff is <3

What is the name of this special...you made me curious :)

message 1705: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Missdevora I'm sorry I don't remember the name, but I can tell you that it was on the History Channel.

In case you all were wondering (and I'm sure you were) sometimes when I don't want to stretch out I put my computer far enough away that typing requires a hamstring stretch. Goodreads is my warm-up motivator.

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Okay this is random ... harhar.
I have heard this before with other things, but I can't read it with my reader. I guess it is a graphic or something, because when I go over it character by character I get nothing.
In sarah's name/thing it says:
Sarah heart suth Vutch forever ... the heart thing is what I am wtf'ing about. Is it just a picture of a heart or <3?

My dogs are mad at me. I gave the one terrier (sprite) a bath, she is very good in the tub, and she-ra got jealous. So I washed her ass too.
After I dried them the best I could (she-ra is a fluffy dog--she is part pomeranian) I gave them treats. Now they are ignoring me and won't come into my room. I hope she-ra doesn't crap in here ... she does that when my parents piss her off.

The other night at dinner my mom is telling my dad a story about what she-ra had done that morning. (she crapped in their room. My dad asks "what did you do to her?"

It was raining, my mom didn't do anything to her, she-ra is a short dog, she didn't want to get her hoo ha wet I guess.

message 1707: by Missdevora (new)

Missdevora | 2142 comments @Llaph In Sarah's name there is a picture or icon of a heart before and after Vutch forever.
I hope your dogs will not stay long mad at you.

message 1708: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments it's a picture of a heart. :)

message 1709: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Thanks guys, I thought it was that. I wanted to be positive ... I am weird like that. :x

Dogs began to like me again ... after they dried all of the way. I am not happy about sprite thinking she will crunch on her milkbone on my f'ing pillow. That is just as bad as cracker crumbs....
I prefer she-ras hiding her treats under my pillows or comforter. She is dumb that way, get a treat and hide it. She forgets them a lot of the time.

message 1710: by Jax (last edited Jul 19, 2013 04:55AM) (new)

Jax | 831 comments @ Llaph - I'm not sure I'd be happy about having crumbs on my pillow either!!
Then again - Its beats having a 10kg Cat decide she wants your pillow in the wee hours of the morning, and sits on your head!! ;D
(Please note - not face - head!)
And my husband is convinced her super-power is increasing her gravitational pull by twice the factor of a Dwarf star to the coefficient of three times the average pull along the event horizon of a black hole... ;D

Thankfully cats don't hide their treats - though mine insist on spreading their kibble across the kitchen floor. Which is annoying as hell!

message 1711: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Jax I sleep with my door closed because otherwise the cat will come and sit on my head.

But when my cat comes into the room in the middle of the night, she gets up in your face and won't stop meowing until you wake up and acknowledge her. Sometimes she sneezes right in my mother's face. *wrinkles nose* Thank God she's cute.

message 1712: by Llaph (last edited Jul 20, 2013 07:06PM) (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments We used to have a dog who was very sensitive to sounds and well ... she was a candy ass scared of everything. When thunder storms hit she would freak out. We live in Texas ... it is usually thundering lol.
Anyway, she would freak and jump on your head/pillow and try to get as close to your head as possible. She was a 30lbs dog, it is also not cool when you are blind and she tries to jump on your head in the middle of the night....

When she-ra was a puppy she used to nose under my sheet/comforter and do a dig dug impersination. It was quite comical ... I have a queen size bed and she was a little thing back then.
Think like bugs bunny burrowing and there was this line/mound that appeared as he went along.

message 1713: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments My cat used to sleep under the comforter of beds when she was younger. It was funny because you'd see this lump in the covers and try to smooth it out, only to have that lump yowl at you angrily.

He was also the evil/Cobra Ninja from the first two GI Joe movies. He is beautiful & he can move. He is very fluid in his fight scenes. Amazing really. RED2 was also very good. :)

message 1717: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Arushi You're welcome! Believe me, it's worth it. I burst out laughing several times.

One of my favorite quotes from the movie (which they play in the commercial so it's totally not spoilery):

Marvin: If there's one thing I know, it's women and covert ops

Frank: That's two things

Han: No, grasshopper. It is not.

message 1718: by Arushi (new)

Grasshopper makes me think of Niko :) He annoys the hell of Cal when he says it :D

message 1722: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Is that the schools in England just finishing, Anna? In Scotland, they all finish at the end of June and parents are already praying for when they go back in mid-August LOL!

But Happy Holidays to you! :)

message 1723: by Anna (new)

Anna | 1680 comments Yep, thanks; wow - finishing in June - I had no idea Scotland was so different from England. Any idea why? Was harvest earlier there in the 1800s or something?

message 1724: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I'm not certain, Anna. I can only guess it's because our climate is slightly worse than England's. Honestly, by the time it gets to mid-September round these parts summer is a distant memory! But all through July we have extremely long hours of daylight (roughly 4am till 10pm), so maybe it's so the kids can take full advantage of that?

There's probably a historical reason, like harvesting, but I don't know for sure.

message 1725: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments My little sister just got back from Ireland last weekend, and she mentioned how much daylight you all had over there. I'd be jealous, but I don't envy you your winters!

message 1726: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I don't envy them--It's Ramadan right now. For the people fasting... eek! lol

message 1727: by Claire (new)

I'm off to get a new laptop this afternoon! I'm very excited.

message 1731: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Wee!!!! First official Goodreads post from my new laptop!!

I got a Lenovo ideapad. When it asked me to name it I named it Verity, because I personally wouldn't mind being a bit more like Verity Price.

This computer should be very compatible with all my math nerd needs

message 1732: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Happy new laptop, Claire! I can never get enough of computery stuff! :)

message 1733: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments good idea Claire. From now on all my possessions will be named by book characters. I think my next car is gonna be called.... Tybalt? ;) Damnit cars are supposed to be girls... Sooooooo Cassie? Dory? Dory. That seems to fit lol

Verity is actually on the list of possible baby names, you know when I possibly become pregnant lol

message 1734: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I run Linux and my desktop is named Marlowe. I love it when I open up the terminal and it shows "MyUserName@Marlowe". And my laptop is called Mephistopheles. It's a DEMON! And I have a little server called Casterly Rock (cos I want it to be impregnable).

Oh, and when I paired my tablet and my phone, I called them Loras and Renly.

OK, I'll shut up now! :P

Congratulations Claire!!!
Shiny new tech is awesome!!!

@Zeenat - Verity is a great name :) For the near distant future of course.

@Lannister - they're actually cool names.

So I have a question. A friend of mine has these really col luggage tags. Like one side has the symbol of the direwolf of Winterfell with the "winter is Coming" and the other side has her name.

Now, I refuse to copy hers - especially coz I am NOT obsessed with ASOIAF right now. So I need suggestions on what to you use on my own luggage tags that I am now inspired to create. Book symbols ppl!!!

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Cars are guy names in my family.
My sister Tina's first car was Mr. Kia ... then Mr. Dodge ... the car I had when I lived at home was Mr. Z )was a ford ZX2) I forget my sister Angie's car's name at the time.
They pick the car names from the first letter of the model. Angie had a sonata she called Sammy and she has an altima now that she calls armando ... the guy at the dealer helped her name him. :x

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments On a side note ... I brushed she-ra for the first time last weekk and she now associates my room with "that evil f'ing brush' and won't come into my room. She stays in the hallway, even if I have string cheese to share )she loves cheese)
I think I brushed like 5 lbs of hair off of her. My mom says that she looks loads skinnier and pants less, unappreciative bitch.

hahaha... typical. My boss has a cocker spaniel called Waffle - and he gets so sulky if someone tries to brush him. He was given a bath today and the first thing he did was come and demand cookies from all of us. Like really demanding. Plus once he figures out you won't feed him - you cease to exist. Until you again have food near you.

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Arushi wrote: "So I need suggestions on what to you use on my own luggage tags that I am now inspired to create. Book symbols ppl!!! "

I think you need to go for House Basarab. From Touch the Dark
Mircea’s family crest showed a dragon, the symbol of courage, embracing a cross
Maybe something like this:

dragon with large wings wrapped around a cross

Or how about a quill in an ink pot to represent Marlowe:
https://encrypted.google.com/search?t...

Or maybe Pritkin in a bathtub? :D

message 1741: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I vote Pritkin in a bathtub!

Anyway, I think Verity is a bit of an odd name for a person...but it works for my computer! It's funny because between my faint NJ accent and the family's Italian heritage, my family thought I was saying "verde" instead of "verity." Which is silly because I'd never pronounce the "e" like a "y".

@Lannister That is a really cool rendition of the Basarab family crest.

message 1743: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Oh that is cool! I'd love it with a lower neck. Built as I am, t-shirts that come up too far over my chest never work out.

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Okay guys I could use your help/advice. I just changed my Goodreads profile picture and on my profile it shows up the right way, it shows up the right way in my documents folder, but when I post on threads my picture shows up rotated the wrong way. Has anyone ever had that problem?

message 1745: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I guess it's because it doesn't fit the right way? weird... I have no clue.

It's a pretty picture though!

message 1746: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments That's a really odd quirk! I've never encountered that before. Only thing I can suggest is that you post in the Goodreads Feedback group. They have a thread for bugs there (though you'd need to join the group).

http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

I kinda like it angled though. You look quite sultry! :)

Arushi | 3652 comments @Lannister - you're awesome!! I love the Basarab crest and the inkpots :) Now I am thinking I will get lots of tags made coz I cannot decide...

@Claire - that is definitely a unique problem. Maybe try cropping the image to a square and then uploading it again? It is a really pretty pic btw.
EDIT: You look Beautiful. I finally saw it the right way up :)

message 1748: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments well thank you for the compliments everyone! I appreciate you all trying to help. =]

I emailed the photo to myself first and it was rotated in the email but when I hit "save to computer" it popped up the correct way. I have no idea why it's not cooperating. Oh well.

Things I realized today, trying to get to the car wash: When I get lost I violate traffic laws in new and interesting ways.

message 1749: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments You could use MSPaint and flip it, then uploaded it to GR and see what it does. Though years ago when I still did photo manipulation just opening and resaving the file in a graphics program fixed it for some odd reason when the picture was doing weird stuff like that.

When you take a pic with your phone and uploaded it to GR does GR squish it to the reqs itself? I don't ever take pics of me ... just she-ra ... too bad I can't collect cats.

btw ... cheezits worked to make her come back into my room, what a spoiled brat dog.

message 1750: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Llaph I opened the file in paint to do just that...and it opened in the correct orientation
