It's just as well it's so early in the season! They will be able to make a come back from that, and prove themselves, hopefully!

But I thought you liked the footy Brenda. Or do you only watch Geelong? Meant to sy they had a good win last week over Hawks.

Yes, Sydney are doing enough to get the points. Hate to be a Melbourne supporter- they are a rabble.

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments My other half is delighted that Power beat the Giants - especially because it was a tribute match...

In our 5 years together I've learnt more about footy than I ever wanted to know ;)

I like the AFL Dale, but with a sports mad husband, I'm like Amber... Amber wrote: "In our 5 years together I've learnt more about footy than I ever wanted to know ;)" except we've been married a lot longer than that! Sport is on in the background pretty much ALWAYS!!!! So I know about the majority of sports:)

Ah, I see. In our house it's strictly AFL. Hubby used to be a league supporter many years ago, till he met me and saw the light LOL. Around the time they first started televising Aussie rules, he became more interested in the game and then of course the Swans move to Sydney, where we lived back then. We are red and white through and through, but usually watch other AFL games as well. A while since Port Power's been up ther Michael. Hinkley must've done something good. Geelong did well to get that win last week Brenda.

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments lol now it's Showdown fever; every day he tells me by how much the Power will smash the Crows... how long 'til the end of footy season? *sigh* lol

I know! I'm sure they love to scare the cr** out of their fans, as well as their coach before they pull another one out of the bag! lol

Hahahaha!!! The worst part is when the footy is over, we have to sit around to watch/listen to paint drying while the cricketers take over;P lol

message 523: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PORT

I was following live updates of the game on my phone all night at work & was expecting a ten goal loss. When we got within four goals I was content with the effort and would have been fine with a marginal loss.
Then when I saw we hit the lead I was literally jumping up and down infront of everyone, It was amazinggggg. Going to finally return to Aami Stadium for the next home game I think.

message 524: by Amber (new)

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments lol I was at my friend's place for a girls' dinner and movie night, and I kept getting regular messages and phone calls from my other half; angry at first because the undefeated Power were losing by so much, then the calls got more excited and by the time the last call came my friend and I were almost hysterical with laughter because when I answered the phone I was serenaded with the Power song :) lol He's a very happy man! (now) lol

message 525: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6911 comments I'm a Sydney supporter but you have to admire that win from Port and the way they have turned themselves around.

They most certainly have from last year! And Dale, I'm sorry you got beaten last week;);) It was a brilliant game, but the Cats were awesome!

Yes it will Michael....

message 528: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments It will be indeed!
Port play Kangaroos & Richmond next, it'll be interesting to see how we can go against them, since they're both on some pretty good form

message 529: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments I havent been to a home game in ages man! I think the last one I went to was Primus's first showdown. I know right. Im so desperate to go to the Richmond game but I'm working at 4. Ughhh.
I've arranged to go with a friend to the home game after that, against Geelong. Ouch.

message 530: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments That is quite the plan. Or I'll find someone to swap a shift with. If we beat the Kangaroos that plan may become a reality :)

Very proud to say Michael Crocker is reading my novel and posted a comment on twitter, check it out.

message 533: by James (new)

James Loftus | 134 comments Yes, too right. All sport does so much to draw people together. What a wonderful thing. Even if I don't follow AFL, I bet it's cricket or something else in common, sporting wise.

message 534: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Disappointing loss against the Kanagroos, but I expected it. At least the final score was competitive, perhaps if we had kicked straight, as opposed to 1.7 in the first quarter, we would have won

message 535: by Kyla (new)

Kyla Corrigan | 94 comments Good win to Geelong tonight :D

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I hope Ken gives the boys a good kicking and tells them to sort their first quarters out. That was absolutely shocking. :C

Lit Bug (Foram) | 402 comments Aussies don't watch cricket? You're the number one team!

message 541: by Lit Bug (Foram) (new)

Lit Bug (Foram) | 402 comments I've always adored Aussies in cricket - they seem unbeatable most of the times. :)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Cricket is too boring for my tastes. Aussie rules all the way.

Getting a bit annoyed with the Crows' monopoly on local media. When Port beat the Giants, 'Big whoop, it's the Giants, nobody cares.' When the Crows beat the Giants, 'GIANTS SLAYERS EVERYONE, AWW YEAAAH FULL PAGES IN THE 'TISER'

message 543: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments hahahaha no kidding, now all of a sudden their season is "back on track". Come on.
What gets to me more is all my friends who go for the crows celebrating, yet Port have still only beaten "shit teams" according to them.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Yeah I've had a lot of Crows fans say that to me. I just let them work it out for themselves.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) That's what I left them figure out. xD

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I can barely hear them from all the way down the ladder.

message 547: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Hahaha

We've won more showdowns and its a great feeling, one they have never experienced tbh

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Yeah that's what I always come back to. "Call me when you've won more showdowns than us, kthx"

Donna Gallagher (donnag63) I can't believe I only just noticed this thread. I love sport, all sport but in particular rugby league. So much so that I wrote a series of romance books based around a fictional league team. Unfortunately my two favourite teams are coming last and second last at the moment. Boo! I'm from NSW so not looking forward to State of Origin either.

I prefer the AFL, but one of my workmates from Queensland (I'm also from NSW) loves to crow before, during and after Origin.
