Neko Thanks guys :)

Yes weekend is going to be very peaceful time..hahaha!!

That site with the bookstores, I really can't pick a fav as they are all so different. Would love to see something like that here. Actually one of them already does..The one that looked really cramped.

Megan | 114 comments I love the children's bookshop with all of the circles for curling up and reading in.

message 4860: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Those bookshops are amazing. By far the best is Shakespeare & Co. in Paris. When I was in Paris a few years ago, the hotel we stayed in was literally 200 meters from that shop, so I got to go in there almost every night. Its gorgeous beyond words, plus you can see Notre Dame directly across the road.

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments Long day today. Dad and I drove 7 hours to Mt Gambier so I could pick up my new car, then drove 7 hours home again!! It was quite daunting, my first drive in the new car being so long! Unfortunately, because of the travel time, I only spent a grand total of 30 minutes in Mt Gambier :-(

Wow that was a long, long day Amber:( I lived in Mount Gambier from age 7 to 27yo...lovely place, except pretty cold in winter. Love the Blue Lake! My hubby has family still there, and we visit probably once a year.

What sort of car did you get?

I saw the Blue Lake! I did actually get to see that :-) It was an incredible colour.

Ok my new car is a Toyota, a 1997 model. Just so you understand why I'm so excited about this 'new' car, I'll fill you in on a few problems my 1986 model Ford had:
- no horn
- rear windscreen wiper didn't work
- front passenger footwell broken
- no power steering
- no air conditioning, heating or demisters
- would overheat after 10 minutes of driving
- would go chew through $40 petrol ever few days; even though I would only make a few 10 minute trips each day

My new car got me through 7 hours of driving and only used half a tank of petrol - and I'd only put $50 in to fill it up.
It has POWER STEERING, air conditioning, cruise control, electric mirrors, lacks the death rattle that made my previous car's appearance so memorable, demisters, adjustable steering wheel...

Long answer to your question, and I bet you're sorry you asked, but I'm so happy with my new car!!! :-D

Hahaha!! No, not sorry I asked! That's a fantastic improvement on your previous car:) What sort of Toyota?..we have one too..it's a Yaris, and I love it!!

Glad the Blue Lake was it's gorgeous summer colour...it's amazing for sure!!! Have many photos of it:)

message 4866: by Amber (new)

Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments the Blue Lake was incredible! I'm glad I got to see it :-)

My car's a Seca - if I've spelt that correctly - and there's something I forgot: I don't know what to call it, my 'carspeak' is really pathetic, but it's got one of those things on a keyring. You hit the button, and the car locks/unlocks :-) I've offered to do the family's driving for the next few weeks just to show off the new wheels lol :-D

Opposite side of the road to the Blue Lake...as you drive around the Blue Lake and get to the big roundabout at the caravan park, turn right (not into the park) and follow it around...you end up down at the Brown and Valley Lakes...gorgeous. People ski on the Valley Lake and there are bbq areas and animals in an enclosed area, kangaroos etc. It's really lovely!

message 4884: by Adhityani (new)

Adhityani (dhitri) Hi everyone,

I want to do something called RAOK - Random Act of Kindness - wonder if anyone is familiar with this? Basically I want to GIVE AWAY some of my books as I have run out of places to store them! And anyway I want to pass the joy of reading them along to my fellow goodreaders.

So what I will do is, I will list one book each month this year to be given away, give a time limit for people to express their interest, then put the names in an online randomizer, which will come up with the 'winner'. All the 'winner' has to do is pay postage. How does that sound? Would anyone be interested in participating?

This is something my cloth nappy group does on a regular basis (yep, with cloth nappies, hehe). The books I am looking to RAOK are in good condition (you might find a dog eared page or two). This includes a set of Lord of the Rings (all three books in one binding), a couple of Haruki Murakamis...

Mods, please let me know if this something that I can do on here :) if you give me the green light will set up a separate thread of each book.

message 4885: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80174 comments Mod
Dhitri, that sounds like a wonderful idea...very kind of you..yes you can go ahead with it, that's fine. Do the thread in the Giveaway section I think, and then you could delete (archive) it at the end of each giveaway....does that sound ok to you?

I know I'd be interested, and I'm sure there would be many others:)
