Right, my iPhone is officially called Robbie :)
On the subject of naming things, my mum named her car Betsy, and my friend named his balloon David.

We were at the Royal Show on Friday, and he brought the balloon. We parted ways to go with different groups of friends. Two hours later I got a text reading "Have you seen David? :("
Apparently, he had gotten bored of carrying the balloon around ten minutes after buying it, so he tied David to a post, and when he returned to pick him up two hours later David was gone.
Sad times as the Show :(
poor david!
I name my parents cars
dads is called belle ( its a yellow porche)
his 4x4 is called evy
and mums is called ariel (its red)

What sort of lowlife steals a balloon at the Royal Show?"
It was probably a child! As in 'look Mummy, a free balloon!' :)

Very interesting, Geoff. It looks like print books are in a state of flux. Will the future of books be - to take your Kindle, etc to a place maybe called a Library or Bookshop and borrow or pay for a download?
Had a bit of excitement on Monday night. Sitting chatting, watching a bit of TV, when suddenly there was a massive explosion! It shook the house! Went out the back, and could see black smoke in the night sky, and flames shooting quite high. We went for a walk in the direction, and discovered the firies there already, and a car destroyed! It was one street over, and we figured it was either the gas cylinder in the car (probably) or a car bomb (probably not!) It was a stolen car which had been torched!

Would have certainly been scary :/
In other news, I got a casual 5/6 in my french oral, an 9/10 in my english essay today :)

Morning Laurel,
Our local library has a section of e-books (fiction & non-fiction), haven't yet checked out the format or if they will work on Kindle. The e-books is a growing section near the audio books. I walk everyday around 6.00am and often have audio books on the mp3 player - one way of getting through those that you should have read earlier in your life :-o)
As for e-books, currently had an ongoing correspondence with Amazon about a formatting problem on my book ‘Ice King’ as I received a complaint from a buyer that it had faded font (turns out it was red in colour) and where I had a dash e.g ‘ – ‘ they had ‘3/4’ . I found 22 pages with this problem. Took a couple of days to get fixed, but all is well (I hope) now.
cheers
Geoff

I've been so busy these last two weeks that I'm ready to chill out, stretch out and read.
I built a chair swing this week, and am looking forward to better weather so I can sit, read, swing, doze, admire nature and catch up on some Vit D.
Sounds great Maggie!! So R & R will do you the world of good! Looking forward to meeting up with you tomorrow:)

Enjoy your break Maggie by the sounds of it you deserve it :)!!

Now I'm noticing the bad reason of owning a kindle...I've got too many books to read as kindle format and as physical format..Not enough hours in the day..lol :s

Swing completed. Job well done! thanks to Jai's help.

of course I never get many turns

Carmel, I should have warned you when the instructions say may require two people they mean you will need three but it is so worth it.
Wow, your swing looks fabulous Maggie! Love your dog too:) Good luck with yours Carmel...the instructions are written in chinese....interpreted to English by a chinese person just doesn't make sense!! lol
Was a lovely day...no dinner required >.<

I do understand Carmel, I've had the same problem before...it's hopeless trying to decipher the instructions!! >.<

Also, I am doing work experience all of this week. Its required for my whole year level-I'm working at my mums law firm. Two or three of my friends are nearby, so we're going to meet up for lunch in the city one day :)

Listening to audio tapes must be a pleasant way of reading and walking, Geoff. I'm glad you managed to sort your book out with Kindle.
A book you might be interested in is - How to Make, Market and Sell ebooks. All for Free. by Jason Matthews on Kindle. He might have it on Smashwords too. I found it very helpful and well worth the three dollars something I paid for it. All the best with your book. Laurel

I have a feeling they'll only swap the whole lot...maybe you should ring and ask before taking a part down? Really disappointing. It's such a shame the quality is so often not there:( Good luck with it Carmel.

Just letting everyone know Carmel has been called to Melbourne for work, so won't be online until Saturday. She's heading off about now, and couldn't get into this thread herself, because of a pic and her work computer not liking it!!

On Monday I went to two hearings (one was it that awesomely modern building with the green copper thing on the end of Victoria Square. You know the one im talking about?) That building was amazing. I also went on rounds, which was visiting all the courts and dropping off/picking up documents.
Today, my second day, I went on rounds and helped sort documents and files in the library. At 1:00 it was decided I had nothing to do, so I was allowed to do whatever. I went on a walk around the city-got to the Botanic Gardens. Was supposed to be back by 2:30, and at 2:20 I found myself behind Hindley Street, which, for all you inter-staters is veeery dodgy; strip clubs, dance clubs, adult shops, always fights taking place in the newspaper... My options were to cut through there, or be late.
I decided to be late.

Shit Michael-that sounds scary :S Glad the police came. Ive never walked Hindly street, and plan to for ageees to come :/

Went to a hearing with a solicitor, one of my mums friends. It was totally awesome: there was shouting and 'objections' and arguing and everything. All the hearings I've been to previously were quiet and quick-like five minutes. This one went for forty minutes and was intense. After they were dismissed, the other person came to discuss a date with the guy I was with. That started another argument, and they went into an interview room where they argued for another half hour. It was actually a really intriguing case, and Im pretty upset I wont be there for the next hearing, I'd love to see how it turns out.
What a great work experience day Jess.
When I did mine a thousand years ago, I worked in a library. It was pretty much quiet all the time. The librarians convinced me not to become a librarian.

Maybe that is a rare occurrence?

What a coincidence, I name things too! My eldest is called Jo and my other daughter is called Jai.
Seriously, I have been known to name things - I once had a beautiful houseplant called Tarquin, and my car is called Kellan (which means powerful).
I do like the idea of naming the ipods though - I have two and I wouldnt want to get them muddled up. I'm thinking Lars and Graham (cos its green).
And I recently purchased an azalea bush - usually these are called delicious names like 'Paradise Beauty' or 'Bridal Bouquet' etc but this one (and the only reason I purchased it) was called 'Roger'.
