Do you guys have Costco in Australia. Costco turns Christmas in August, lol. I wish I was kidding.

@Suzanne Glad to hear that Cody was not injured, what a horrid thing for him to have to go thru. It does sounds as if you and your husband have done a fantastic job in raising him, kudos to you all.

They have Halloween ready to go in mid-June.
I think I need to get Costco a Calendar for Christmas, lol. That being said, I am a big fan of the holiday. Chances are I will watch The Polar Express way too many times for my own good :D

After my review of The Trivia Man, I had a lovely email from Deborah O'Brien, the author. So nice when that happens.

Thanks Melissa and Brenda. Congrats on yours too Brenda. Makes you feel you must've done something right. In writing the review to get a lovely response. That you and the author are on the same wave length.

You must be so proud that your son's first instinct was to help others. I am sure he'll be ok - and schools are pretty well trained up on this (I hope there is someone there for the teachers) - but you won't relax until he is home and you give him a big hug.
Suzanne wrote: "Hi friends, I have had an anxious 24 hours, Cody (11) was on the way to Dubbo Zoo for an overnight excursion and his bus was involved in an accident. I'm sure you're both proud & grateful he was unharmed.

When you see your son again, the moment will be more precious than ever.

B the BookAddict wrote: "@Suzanne Glad to hear that Cody was not injured, what a horrid thing for him to have to go thru. I really like our school, and its teachers, it's the school that everyone tries to get into out of area, and it's a 4 minute walk!

We are at Diamond Beach now - absolutely glorious weather, great place we're staying! We're looking forward to a lovely relaxing week!
Have a lovely time Brenda :)-
My Kmart didn't have xmas music on..Also couldn't really see xmas stuff but i wasn't looking....But some cheap novels there!! I didn't walk out empty handed lol
Thanks Laura:) And no, no Christmas music in KMart:D And I did Laura.....so difficult, but I was determined! lol
So it seems I stuffed up and the audible upgrades I had purchased from my collection where in America - problem being I'm in Australia. I had to find the purchases first (which took me awhile as I didn't know what happened) then organise refunds (which was easier than any other company I've been through) BUT I can not just buy the Australian equal, as in most cases the Aussie version is dearer, plus my refund will take a few days to come through. Disappointing beginning, but I'm still looking forward to playing with my Kindle Fire for my b'day next month...which I'm pretty sure is the brown paper delivery I had come today.

Our Kmart moved the book section (from next to the check outs) to the very back corner. You have to go looking for it now (past all the Xmax stuff!) so many less incidental (accidental?) book buying by me at least!
Is that good or bad, Carolyn? Haha Our books got moved too when the "rejazzed" the store about 3 months ago. It's close to the video games which is sometimes bad for me..lol
Yes our local store has done that too Laura - right beside the DVD section, at the back of the store and next to Layby (which is so far to walk to now!!) lol
Mikana wrote: "So it seems I stuffed up and the audible upgrades I had purchased from my collection where in America - problem being I'm in Australia. Amazon is pretty tricky, I have found, if you want something from the US site and you have a AU membership.
I have a swedish GR friend who uses Audible exclusively and she loves it but says there's not enough released on it.
It's good to hear about all the different sites and how they measure up.
My only gripe with stores like Kmart and Target having their books next to dvds etc is that it's often noisy. I like to concentrate when book-buying and I can't in those stores:(Okay, I'm admitting I often come out with a good dvd series tucked under my arm as well.

The driver of a car drove into the bus, and was..."Oh, Suzanne, glad to hear your Cody is OK. A bit late in offering my positive thoughts, haven't been checking the site during my first three days at work (aargh) but I can see you have lots of support here, what a lovely group Aussie Readers are!
@B - Lol! Years ago i used to collect dvd boxed series but when i found i watched it once it felt like a huge waste of money so i cured myself of that...Books on the other hand is different all together...lol
Brenda wrote: "LOL!!! Lots more chocolates and lollies near the checkouts though! :/"Buying books at the checkout was like buying lollies and chocolates for me!
Laura - I think it's good and bad - I miss out on lots of bargains but I bring home less books when I do the weekly shopping so my DH is happy! The KMart at our local shopping centre is the only place you can buy books since the A&R closed.
And KMart quite often have really good books reduced quite dramatically! (I gave in this morning!)

Thanks so much for your message, yes just love this group of people here on AR :))))))
I'm going to be cheeky here and type something that the kids would, but it really fits in. Ikr! I know, right!!
Just got back from the Sydney Book Expo today, the Tim Lea seminar about social media was good and well worth the trip. Did anyone else go?

Just back from seeing The Martian. What a good movie! I thought it was as good as the book, in different ways of course, but still as good.
Hi All from hot and sunny Saigon! :D we (reluctantly) left beautiful Hoi An Danang this morning and arrived (after 2.5 hours delay!) in 34C Saigon for a 3 day stay, then on to Cambodia for another 3 day stay.We have wifi here and I can receive emails but I can't send them, so all my emails will have to wait until I return home.
Having a great time so far, and have been very lucky with the weather and our plans coinciding nicely. Some very heavy rain on a couple of nights just added more variety to our experience. We were also lucky enough to be in Hoi An for the Summer Festival (a 3 day holiday for them) with beautiful night markets and stunning lanterns on display everywhere....sooooo pretty, and such a beautiful atmosphere, the people are so lovely, so calm and so happy. It's a very spiritual experience...Highly recommended 10★s :D
*No pics yet as I need my computer for that.

I often re-watch series, I don't have iView or pay tv and normal tv is rubbish.
Katie wrote: "Just got back from the Sydney Book Expo today, the Tim Lea seminar about social media was good and well worth the trip. Did anyone else go?"Was it worth it, Katie? Personally, I think we really need to take a good hard look at what's happening with social media. It seems it can be quite destructive.

Oh, Suzanne! I hope your son is doing alright. That is a tragic thing for a child to go through. Sending positive thoughts to you and your family.
