The English language is funny; it is neat seeing how it varies between Australia and Canada.
I have noticed that both Australians and Kiwis love the word 'reckon'

That is too hot, lol. I would be melted on an Australian sidewalk somewhere. As for cold, I have memories of going to school in minus 50 degrees. As is Canadian tradition (albeit ridiculous) kids would put their tongues on metal poles thereby sticking themselves to said pole.

I've always liked the little memory prompt "Spring forward, Fall back" to remind you to put the clocks forward in Spring and back in Autumn/Fall.

Imagine stumbling into the loo in the middle of the night and finding that. I'd **** myself!"
I now feel the need to look before I sit because of this, lol. This is coming from a part of Canada where the worst we have is a little garden snake.

Yep, the lady of the house was out at the washing line and left the door open for the dog, when the dog started barking like crazy she went to investigate. Not the first visitor like that but certainly the largest so far.

Lol, I think he was trying to get down the holes!

Uh uh!! :[

OMG Rita and Jools! I'm going to be having nightmares for sure! I have a bad snake phobia.
I spent my teenage years growing up in W.A where we had dugites (poisonous black snakes) in the bush at the back of our high school where they made us go cross country running. I always came in last cos I was so busy freaking out about rustles in the undergrowth.

I was always afraid of

meanwhile in Canada, we occasionally get bears breaking into people's houses. just a few weeks ago someone had to take down a grizzly as it had entered his child's bedroom.

Urgh!! Fortunately...even after living in the bush...I have never had any up close and personals with snakes, we used to catch all types of lizards though when we were kids..blue tongues, frill necks etc :)

That's intense Melissa! :{

At least all our nasties are small and can be squashed or trapped once seen. How exactly do you tackle a grizzly?

Carefully?
@ Carolyn, it had to be shot in the end. This was a rare thing for a grizzly to do. usually it is the black and brown bears that do the breaking in.

After a serious snake 'hullo' in Illawarra, I have a HUGE snake phobia.

And they call us the lucky country. Have they even seen all the horrid slithery, creepy crawlies we have?
The Bird Spider of norther QLD, for instance, ahhhhhh!

I had a nightmare bushwalk in Tasmania once, around Lake St. Clair. It was a really hot day and I was getting a migraine as we walked so I had blurred and spotty vision. There were copperheads everywhere along the sandy track including the one with a sandy imprint of my DH's shoe that wriggled off into the scrub just as I also went to step on it.

Yuck :( Yeah, I travelled up the coast during the summer time and was so weary NOT to go into bushy areas because I'd totally freak if I found a nasty snake.
